What will the air sweeper do to air raids?
So I'd like to start by saying that I think the air sweeper is a nice addition, and the people who are saying air raids, specifically lavaloon, will now be impossible are overreacting IMO.
Let's break it down by town hall level, starting at 6
Th6: Giant/healer is the main attacking using air units at th6. Even with the air sweeper, it will be very possible to 3 star with this. Especially if you can see what direction it is facing. Not gonna have a huge effect, but will make them require a bit more strategy and pathing.
Th7: Mass Drag is obviously the big one here, and has many people complaining about it. It will still be pretty easy to 3 star I think, but hopefully the air sweeper will make it so you actually have to think about drag placement and not just spam them anywhere. I'm hoping this will finally add at least a little strategy to mass drags.
Th8: Mass Drag/Dragloon will probably be very crippled with the air sweeper. Mostly mass drag. Its already much harder at th8 than it is at 7 because of the third ad. If they are all level 6 and you have an air sweeper, it will probably make mass drags a 1 star at best unless it is a poorly designed base. I don't have much experience with dragloon, so I'm not sure the extent of how it will be affected, but it for sure will make it tougher.
Th9/10: I just lumped these two together because the air strat is the same at both. Yes I am of course referring to lavaloon and all its various forms. I'll also mention golowiwi and holowiwi because balloons are a pretty big part of those attacks. Starting with golo and holo, I think the air sweeper won't have too big of an affect on these because the loons are usually used to take out outside defenses near the edge, so you can just aim for the side that the sweeper isn't on. As for lavaloon, it will definitely be made harder, but not impossible. CB or shattered will probably see more use, and will be changed to try any get the queen, and AD and a sweeper if you can. Worst case scenario in think would be if all the pups get scattered from the sweeper, or the loons get pushed away from the AD and core.
Those assumptions I made will be largely be affected by whether or not you can see what direction it is facing. If not, then it will be much harder, or at least a lot harder to plan.
TL;DR To those saying air attacks are ruined, calm down. You will just have to adapt and try new troop comps.
