Leaders should be able to substitute another member for someone who leaves the clan during war prep time.
There is no pratical way to do this.
That's basicly the bottom line. Human nature will cause some to exploit that, and would be a pain to balance.
(I'm sure someone else will give details. Still distracted by other things here right now to give details.)
Actually, I think there may be a way to do it, but in order to avoid the feature being exploited, the player that you substitute in would have to have equal or lower offense and defense than the person they are replacing.
I thought of that too, but that may give away too much info to players on how thier mostly secret matching algorithm works; especially if it gave actual numbers. :(
idk. I'm just guessing, but there is a reason why SC doesn't disclose what the basic details are, which is to prevent (but obviously not stop) gameplay ruining metagamers.
Warren is right. There is info SC does not want us to have (I myself don't see a harm in them sharing this, but apparently they do) and a bottom line that leads to is that it is going to always be up to you to absorb the problem when it occurs.
Myself and many others can offer a lot of advice on tricks to avoid it in the first place. I know that is not the solution you want, but if the reality was that it is the only solution you are going to get are you interested?
I get the issues, for sure. I do think there are solutions, though. Any tricks anyone has would be helpful.
1. Wait a period of time (week?) before including a new member in war.
2. Wait a until a new member has reached X donations before including them in war.
3. If they ditch your clan, ban them and don't let them back in.
Well organized clans do not have this problem. Simple rules for new members eliminates 95% of the issues people complain about most.
*In the old days, just by being in your clan with X trophies meant that the player was included in the war. This is no longer the case. You can opt-out anyone you want from war until you are confident they are committed to your clan.
If you have a high level of turnover during war time, it sounds like you are letting in too many shady people to begin with. I personally like to leave new people out of wars when they join just to see how they act in clan chat. If they never donate, don't play the game very often, don't chat with other members or seem to have any interest, they are more likely to leave at some point. Then it's just easier to boot them. There's no way you can substitute anyone in because the smart thing to do would be have a handful of low end accounts be part of war, leave your top 5 guys out, boot those lower accounts and substitute the top 5 guys in. Now your even war has turned completely lopsided.
Certainly there are easy measures you can take to prevent players from ditching out on war, but I don't think what I'm suggesting would disclose anything more about the matching than we can currently figure out for ourselves. For any member that leaves (or let's say tells you after you've done the search that they have an emergency and probably can't battle), there would be a list of players that the leaders could replace them with.
