So how do People farm GOLD if every town hall level can spend GOLD into walls and other stuff? Do you even farm gold? Your argument is that TH8 need to Stockpile Elixir so that you can have enough to loot. How does that work for TH10 or to Gold farm? You are just used to loot 400-500k per raid and don't want to do 8-10 raids for a single Lego Wall, you are greedy and want to do 2 raids for a single piece of wall.
No other TH level starve from resource farm like you say TH9 would with elixir being used on walls.

You are just spoiled to hit NEXT just once and find a TH8 with 400k elixir to loot. You need to re-learn how to click next more to get better loot bases.

I was raided just as the maintenance finished and I lost 32 trophies... I'm a little disappointed.

Glad supercell fixed this. Just use gold like everyone else did.

I do get it. Having an easier method of upgrading stuff is great. And due to the fact that your walls cost more than mine it can leave more to be raided. And it is a TH thing as I cannot upgrade to lego walls. I get that the walls are the focus but telling me a TH9 that rushed up (having the option of better upgraded defenses/more of those defenses/more powerful troops/more of those troops/more troops space in the CC/ and X-bows) couldnt easily defend the elixer they have compared to any TH8.
Those of us TH8's who stay to max (because it is our choice to max) get picked on by these TH9's and others. But I am not upset about this. It is what it is. And my argument isn't for TH8's to keep elixer for walls. My argument is to make it for ONLY MAX WALLS. I already detailed it in my last post and how it would improve things so I wont go over that again. I really only want to fix the economic situation accross the board.

Maybe it is a gemming thing? Maybe the Skull walls are the top selling wall item for gemmers and SC doesn't want to give up that extra "loot".

Seems pointless though. The TH8 guys are the ones that get hosed. TH9 & TH10s can use their extra Elixer to upgrade the skull walls they already have while waiting on the gold for lower level ones.

Elixir is what is used to pay for those farming armies. Elixir is the lifeblood of the game.

When low-level walls could be upgraded with elixir, the economy dried up because:

1. Raiding bases that had enough elixir to pay for your army became much more rare because so much elixir was being dumped on walls. It only took increments of 200k-500k to get rid of it.

2. Many people that had previously ignored walls suddenly had a new resource dump on top of the fact that they could farm walls twice as fast or more. These people began dumping both gold and elixir into walls before logging out to remove any chance of other people stealing their resources.

This is where you are wrong. It IS a TH8 thing.
Because when you upgrade to TH9 you can spoil all that excess lix in lego's.
The problem for a TH8 player who knows what he is doing isn't maxxing skulls. The problem is all that lix just going to waste!!!
It is just rediculous. After about 2 - 3 weeks into TH8 we just don't have a way to invest our lix.
Sure there is pekka 3 and stuff but that is one time. One long session or a boost session later we are there again: sitting on 6M lix doing nothing.

SC should fix the economy, maybe reevaluate the update cost.
But the resource imbalance at TH8 is just a complete joke as it is now.

I saw someone posting here that he would give 1.5M for a lix wall.
Hell, I would give the full 6M for it.
Prices don't matter for an active TH8, it's seeing all that waste that is the horror.
Only viable option: rush to TH9.
In any game it is always a bad thing that 1 strategy is better than another so please SC, if you are out there, just fix TH8 imbalance.

Why does everyone complain about that Jr helps everyone with the loot they can't spend I am max on my low account on elixer so I used it all today on walls now I can't use any again thanks gemmers for complaining again

we all agree that there is an elixir imbalance at TH8. but being able to dump elixir into low level walls is not the answer. supercell tried this before. the experiment lasted several months and was a total and epic failure. i agree that something needs to be done, but this is not the answer.

SO I have one question to all the cry babies here, being still a early th9 I don't know much about this th9 and th10 resource world but don't th10 need elix aswell since all the th9 dump the elix into walls? SO why not make it that only zap's are upgradable with elix?? Since you made th8 the elix cakes for th9 wont it be fair to make th9 the elix pies for th10?? That would stimulate the elixir economy even more!

Those who defend Elixir on lego but not on skull doesn't make any sense. Their argument doesn't have any logic and can't be sustained.
Legos and Lavas updates with Elixir should be removed as well and let's make TH9 the sweet cake for TH10, since the economy for TH10 is horrible right now.
I still don't know how those guys pay for the 7 million gold upgrade for X-bow level 3 since they can't farm gold from TH8 that dump every 200-500k on walls and "never" have any gold to be raided.

this is what I have been saying. No one would argue it if they had done it for maxed walls only from the begining. and it would have given some relief to the top tier of players without too many people getting mad because SC took their candy.

I've never put lix into walls as a th9....maily because I'm working on barracks and just finished my lab stuff..but still, not all th9s use lix for walls.:facepalm: For th8 you just have to ignore raids with lix and go for raids with more gold. There is clearly an imbalance, but there is nothing that can be done about it without ruining the economy....Trust me, it's been tested....

Well you can still raid the other TH8s with an abundance of elixir as well. Just use your dragons against them! I think many would agree that extra elixir at TH8 is a problem but allowing elixir to be used on level 8 and below walls is not the answer. That much was evident after the first time they opened up elixir for walls at lower levels.

Trust me, you will get to the point where you will be thrilled to be able to use elixir on walls before too long. I'm just over 2 months into TH9 and walls is about all I have to spend elixir on now. I have 2 more smaller researches to do with elixir and a DE storage and DE barracks to upgrade but I'm not really in a hurry to do any of them. I have just 17 million more elixir needed for TH9 upgrades, but 158 million gold needed.

I have no problem leaving the Purple walls gold only. Black walls are the problem, and I fail to see how it ruins the economy?

Th8s cant pick off th7s and expect to get a hefty payday from them unless they're maxxed out and inactive. In short, th8s are getting royally screwed.

No, more like "boohoo, I have too much loot. Please let me destroy the economy and ruin loot for everyone else just so I can have it easy."

TH8s had it too easy between September and December. So easy that they were ruining the game for everyone else. They never should have been given that option in the first place. It was a mistake that has been corrected.

do you realize that supercell tried this before? they had it set that you could use elixir for walls for months. it was a disaster. this isn't something we are just making up.

Because the economy was horrible between September and December. Moving elixir up to level 9 improved the situation dramatically.

I would prefer that, but lix for legos is a VAST improvement over Q4 2014. For those of you still wondering why it is so imperative that TH8's have loot available I have done the math to help you understand. I did it back in Oct so my memory may be a bit foggy, but it should still be close . . .

Collector production:
TH9 generates 0% more loot than a TH8
TH10 generates something like 17% more loot than a TH8

For archer towers alone:
TH9 needs roughly 1700% more loot to max their archers than a TH8 does
TH10 needs roughly 7000% more loot to max their archer towers than a TH8 does

For full disclosure I did this math originally when lvl11 was the maximum for pumps and mines so the numbers have changed a very tiny amount. The core of the math is still there though. TH8 can generate and farm more than they need. TH9 and TH10 create . . . well, it almost doesn't even factor in. 17% raise in production, 40% decrease in loot by farming, 7000% increase in spending. The game is designed to FORCE TH9-10 to farm down. If you want to stay at TH8 you have decided to be the prey that makes the game possible. If you have no loot CoC can be turned off because it is dead.

That or they need to completely rework the economy, which is an idea that I am open to and have made suggestions ranging from mild to extreme. For now high TH8 is the honeypot that the entire game survives on. Stay below it, move beyond it or accept it. Ruining the entire game so that a very small vocal minority (late TH8 who refuse to upgrade) is a terrible, horrible, awful idea for the vast majority of the players (TH1-early TH8 and TH9-TH10).

I maxed all my walls at town hall 8 during the September to December period when you could upgrade them with elixir :cool:. Now I am town hall 9 and I see why they need the elixir... All the upgrades are between 4.5 million to 6 million... It seems weird to me the town hall 8 troop upgrades are only 2 million (not counting rage spell and pekkas to 3), why the big jump?

Saying that giving elixir wall upgrades to TH8 ruins the economy is a falty argument. The problem is not TH8 SPENDING their own resource, it's the high cost of TH9 upgrades plus your laziness to farm like everyone else does.
So the economy of TH10 is ruined because of you? TH10 can't loot your elixir so easily because you can spend it all, like you should, so when you hit TH10 you will petition SC to remove TH9 capability to use their own elixir just to make your life easier?

Were you playing the game yet when they first added the elixir for walls update? At first level 7 walls and up could be upgraded with elixir. I was late TH7 or early TH8 at the time and in the span of a day it went from loot to be had fairly easily to there being no elixir to be raided anywhere! It doesn't sound like it would make a difference but it was really bad.

I think the problem came down to the fact that you could bring the amount of loot in your storages really low pretty easily with level 7/8 walls. At TH8 working on skull walls if you are at 600k elixir before going offline, you'd probably dump 500k of that into a wall if you could leaving just leaving just 14k elixir available in your storages for looting.

Once you start dealing with level 9 walls at a million elixir a piece though, the math changes. You are ready to go offline and you have 950k in your storages so you can't get a wall, that leaves 114k for looting. Not a great amount but still better than the 14k. Maybe you like leaving a buffer so you go offline with 1.5 million elixir which leaves 180k elixir for looting. Now we're getting up to a more lootable amount.

As much as it sucks, much of this game depends on looting from town halls below you. With TH8s being able to basically remove all of their loot from the game, that killed the loot for TH9s which in turn killed the loot for the TH10s that prey on the TH9s that prey on the TH8s. That ripple effect was something that Supercell wasn't able to predict when they first started allowing elixir to be used on walls. As much as I hate to say it since I'm working on lego walls right now, I think it might even help out the economy a lot if elixir could only be used on level 10 and 11 walls.

Ha! Jokes on you Supercell, I did 40 skulls today, 20 of them with elixir, #anarchy

Those who are currently townhall 7/8 and arguing for elixir for skulls didn't experience the massive drought last fall. We can argue with them until we are blue in the face, but they just won't understand the impact this change had for the worse.

Save your breath and don't worry, supercell isn't about to bring back that disaster.

The Current crop of townhall 8s may understand when they upgrade to townhall 9 and realize that elixir starts to become more scarce.

There is the gap between getting enough elixir to cover a storage raid and not getting enough. Loot was definitely rough when it was implemented before.

At first I was saving elixir for my barracks upgrades, but how often do you get a chance like this? I did a boost for 6 skulls, elixir only. Almost have full skulls now, only 20 more to go :)

I'd love it if SC removed elixir for all walls. I farmed a ton of lavas at TH9 before the elixir change, and now all the new TH9s have it easier. :p

I used 4m worth of elixir on walls that would otherwise just sat around and waited for the lab to be done. XD

Ummm let me try to understand the logic here, u (SC and th9+) wants us (th7,8s) to sit here with 6 mil elixir in our storage and not be able to spend it on anything so ppl with th9+ easily raid us and get quick elixir??!!

That's the way a hell of a lot of people have done it.

Well, I ♥♥♥♥♥ed and gem'd the lab research times so I could keep my elix working for me and once I was about finished with lab work and my DE was getting too high (had 71k and BK was long before maxed) I just went to TH9. Come on up!

Yeah I definitely can't say I'm a fan of the "improved" wall graphics...

So i was upgrading my walls and i saw i was able to use elixar once again and i was so happy cause i was full on elixar so woohoo but later on i tried and the option wasnt there did u take it off again supercell?

Exactly. That's the point of being th 7-8. So th 9 can raid your elixir. It's the best thing th 7-8 can do for the community.

It was an error on SCs update, it lasted a few hours they did a maintenance break and reverted the error.

It's really unfortunate that there was a bug this morning where you could spend elixir on low level walls again. The whining about not being able to had just about died down and this morning's bug just started it all up again.

Look, the point is. Either I spend it on the walls, or I just burn it by crafting expensive spells and dragon raids. Either way, the TH9 people arent getting the elixir.

So I REALLY do not understand how it ruins the economy when they can't get the elixir to begin with.

I really fail to see how using the resources that I have hurts the economy. GO raid your own levels, and stop ♥♥♥♥♥ing because they throw a bone to help the lower levels.

I would prefer that, but lix for legos is a VAST improvement over Q4 2014. For those of you still wondering why it is so imperative that TH8's have loot available I have done the math to help you understand. I did it back in Oct so my memory may be a bit foggy, but it should still be close . . .

Collector production:
TH9 generates 0% more loot than a TH8
TH10 generates something like 17% more loot than a TH8

For archer towers alone:
TH9 needs roughly 1700% more loot to max their archers than a TH8 does
TH10 needs roughly 7000% more loot to max their archer towers than a TH8 does

For full disclosure I did this math originally when lvl11 was the maximum for pumps and mines so the numbers have changed a very tiny amount. The core of the math is still there though. TH8 can generate and farm more than they need. TH9 and TH10 create . . . well, it almost doesn't even factor in. 17% raise in production, 40% decrease in loot by farming, 7000% increase in spending. The game is designed to FORCE TH9-10 to farm down. If you want to stay at TH8 you have decided to be the prey that makes the game possible. If you have no loot CoC can be turned off because it is dead.

That or they need to completely rework the economy, which is an idea that I am open to and have made suggestions ranging from mild to extreme. For now high TH8 is the honeypot that the entire game survives on. Stay below it, move beyond it or accept it. Ruining the entire game so that a very small vocal minority (late TH8 who refuse to upgrade) is a terrible, horrible, awful idea for the vast majority of the players (TH1-early TH8 and TH9-TH10).

I read that. That doesn't answer my question though. What's the difference from me just burning the elixir instead of putting it into black walls. It still creates the same "problem" as you guys call it, because the elixir is either getting burned or spent, thus he TH9s cant touch it.

the difference is most people don't burn all of their elixir making big armies and thereby leave some to be looted. were you around the last time this was in place for months? do you realize the issues it caused when supercell first experimented with this?

Most people don't burn their overflowing late TH8 elixir down to nothing (with no return) every time they log on.

It doesn't get burned near as fast. As a TH8 I couldn't burn my elixir fast enough when skulls couldn't be upgraded with elixir. When they could I sat around 200k total often. Most people don't try and burn their elixir with drag raids and what not like you do, they continue to barch and farm efficiently. What you're doing is inefficient and you aren't netting the greatest possible amount of resources when you farm. The update allowing skulls through elixir killed the economy, and that's why they took it away.

Judgeing by all the Mad Face emojies you have been using in your posts, you are getting all pissy about TH8's not hording elixer for you to smash and grab. Get over it.
I personally don't care but the way you TH9's are complaining about it I do hope they take it away from you too and only have it for max walls.

I am a th10 and I would prefer have the option take from me as well as setting back all my walls to lvl1 before the th8s will get this option.
Elixir for walls at th8 kills the whole economy. Not only elixr, but also gold and dark will be completely dry.
