Well, to answer your question, it is impossible no to go up in trophies. No matter how hard you may try, there is always some (since im TH9) maxxed TH 10 waiting to drop your trophies once more. I havent been able to leave gold 3 because of this update. Im not someone who is willing to literally WATCH my troops being created in order to avoid a raid. i have things to do.
And you seem to have forgotten one simple point... there are those inbetween the two groups you have mentioned. I am somewhere inbetween as I'm sure most of us are. I used farming a lot and I raided a lot, and I am drastically hurt by this update. what supercell needs to realize is that not all of us play 24/7. We dont sit and watch our troops train all day. And Supercell needs to remeber, it is those who dont spend millions on gems who play the game the most.
maybe if youre a th7 in champions youll only find th7s to attack :smirk:
:mad:This is the worst update I've seen in the 9 months I've played the game.
I'm also not willing to sit around tapping my phone's screen, watching troops being created, for hours upon end to get 5 or 6 raids in before logging off. This isn't fun. Far from fun. Normally, I'd queue up some troops, go about my business, log back on and raid around the time my troops should be ready. Once in a while, yes, I'd log back on in 15-20 minutes, and I will find out I've been raided. Totally acceptable, and what I've come to expect from the game. Now, I literally get raided, every time, and its within minutes or seconds of logging off. Not to mention, its usually by a TH10, much, much more progressed than my village.
This is just so incredibly frustrating. If the only way to succeed in CoC is to devote your life to it, and the lion's share of one's free time to it, fine. But this matchmaking (searching algorithm) change is permanent, it's going to kill it for the average gamer.
Just my .02.
Really? What levels are your walls and are your defenses maxed? I find this update not affecting my clan members. One of my clanmates, a newly th9 in one month is still getting loot in silver and kept his builders going. The problem is people did not max their previous THs and those who are hardcore like Ash, would have went premie because they could make a lot of loot one day. IS it really hard to boost for 2 hours when you guys have the free time?
Long time lurker, first time poster. I have been playing this game forexactly a year now, and I'm now a TH9 with near max defence, half waythrough Lego walls, with the other half being skulls, and sitting at level 98

Since the update, I no longer have to pressnext 50+ times to find a base worth looting (i.e., making a profit). I havetried going down to silver, but was zapped or demolished too many times, so I went back up to Gold 2 and I'm thoroughly enjoying this game again. For the last 5 days, I had the BK, one xbow and two archer towersupgrading at the same time and had no problem not being demolished. I was able to save up 5million for CC upgrade just yesterday. In fact, since the update, I havemanaged to upgrade BK to 14 and going on 15, 2 archer towers to max for TH9,xbow to lvl 3, leave blower going to lvl 4 and few other lab upgrades with no problem. I leave my TH out,and get snipped 95% of the time, although sometimes I can go for 8 hourswithout being snipped
I work a 9-5 office job, so I usually log on, raid, train troops then log off. I then log back on again when I have my next break. I have no issues with holding onto my loot. I often go for hours without being attacked, and when I do get attacked it is mostly snipes. Sometimes I do get more serious attempts on my base, but they generally only hit 2 of 4 storages, and get away with about 150k of gold or elixir. The trick is to not save both gold and elixir at the same time, I only save up on one type of resource at a time, and always keep a builder free to manage the other resource that I'm not saving. Sometimes I will use more spells than I need to drive down my elixir holding, and as I can only raid during work breaks (every 2 hours or so), I'm fine with the long spell creation time
I think people complaining on this thread need to re-think how they play this game, here are my tips:
- Get out of Silver, go up to at least Gold 2 or higher, than you will have a higher chance of getting TH snipped. This means it will be harder to find an easy base to raid, but you can't have the upside without the downside. Either you go to a lower league for good loot, or you go to a higher league for snipe protection, you can't have both
- Save only one resource at a time, never both elixir and gold. When I'm saving for gold for example, I skip past a lot of bases with little gold but 300k elixir, because I don't want to waste my time. However, if I see a base with 200k+ of both resources and 1k of DE, I'd drop all my troops and spells as it is worth my time and elixir cost
- Don't try to do 5 defence upgrades at the same time. I always do 2 or 3 defence upgrades and 1 or 2 elixir/DE upgrades at the same time, and leaving 1 builder free for resource management. Taking 5 defences offline makes your base far too vulnerable
My main reason to post is to provide a counter point of view to the many complaints, I think all it takes is a bit of thinking about how the game works for you to succeed in it. Before the sea of complaints drive Supercell to revert the matchmaking algorithm, I hope those complaining can try different ways of playing. They might find that a slight change is all that is required for them to start enjoying the game again
Ok, the matchmaking this is NOT working. I'm a new TH 9. I maxed almost everything I could before I came here. Now I'm getting hit by max town halls with max troops and max heroes! This is NOT FAIR! They say the matchups are more even, but they aren't even close. Supercell please fix this! I can see the same townhall matchup, but 2 townhall differences results in bigger mismatches than before. Besides most of the mismatches before were against inactive villages. Now I'm getting hit by people who are insanely better and can't even leave the game a minute before they attack. Please change it!
Just to clarify, I don't mind the other updates in the system, but the matchmaking system is messed up. A new TH 9 should be facing people his level, not maxed troops and maxed heroes. Supercell, there are many people complaining here, please hear us and make a change!
Sincerely,
Nathan
