New Trap Idea: Fools Gold

Thought it would be cool if there was a trap that would attract goblins and explode, hurting or killing the goblins attracted to it. This trap could be an always visible structure that resembles a random resource structure, or one that appears when goblins enter a certain trigger radius much like any other trap. It would be armed using gold like any other trap. Maybe you could consider loading it with real gold to get the goblins' attention. More gold (or higher level) creates larger trigger radius or attracts more goblins if you would choose to limit the number of goblins that would be attracted to it. Just a thought. Hope you can put it to good use. :)

I like the idea. But how much and how much per up? I assume it will be as expensive as the giant bomb... Just saying

Yeah man, that would make sense to me. Being that it would only be triggered by goblins (assuming Supercell would decide to use that version of the idea), it wouldn't be too hard on the piggy bank because it would only blow when someone uses Goblins and gets to the part of your base that has the trap, yet it could really help in protecting that prized Dark Elixer storage.

This still seems fair, as goblins can outrun any other trap, and if a player is wise, they can send less goblins in at first to avoid losing all their goblins from such a trap. it would be pretty obvious that most players would set it near a storage or group of storages, so people shouldn't be too terribly incapable of figuring out where it is placed.

I am new at forum posting, so forgive me if I haven't thought this through all the way.

I guess I would say it just starts with enough damage to kill level 3 goblins. How about it becomes available at TH6. If it were to be available at TH7, then maybe it would take care of level 4 goblins.

It would be nice if it only took up 2X2 space much like the giant bomb.

Trigger radius should be enough to cover 4 surrounding storages. It would be important that the "fools gold" take priority over other resource structures in the Goblins' AI, so that upon approaching a protected storage, the goblins would take the bait over their initial target.

Blast radius should be very small because it attracts the goblins to it anyway. maybe only 1 tile further than the boundary of the structure.

It would be great if it actually had a low health level, and when it reached the end of it's health, the explosion would occur. Then, it would kind of control the amount of goblins it takes out in a way. so a health bar could appear that was really just a gauge counting down to the explosion. If a player laid 40 goblins, but the time 20 or so start attacking, one after another, that should be enough to blow it up. Higher level goblins would damage it faster, so less goblins would be blown up by it because the explosion would occur before more of the pack of goblins reach the trap. Once trap is expended, life returns to normal for the goblins that didn't get to the trap in time and they continue to chase legitimate resources.

Cost, damage, and maybe even trigger radius should go up with level of trap.

Running with this idea ... because I think it is an interesting one ...

Fake Dark Elixir Storage

This means that you have two Dark Elixir Storages, one real and one cloned/fake.

Also deals with the lightning zappers ... although would need a way to not "fish" for the fake storage with one lightning bolt.

Generally, "snipers" just looking for DE would need to choose which one to focus on, vs. the "real attackers" who could take out both storages (and would thus "earn" the DE).

Well it would be triggered only when goblins enter the trigger radius, and sure, if it is the closest structure to other troops, then they would attack it to avoid adjusting every troops AI, but goblin AI would have to be changed to favor that target once it appears. The explosion could be "extra effective" on goblins much like the GB is on Hog Riders. This way, anything else that is near isn't wiped out to the extent the goblins would be.

As fast as goblins are, I doubt other troops would get there in time anyway unless the trap was placed outside the walls, but that doesn't seem like a deal-breaker to me.

Do people use goblins still? This seems like something that would only benefit low level people. I stopped using goblins at TH 5 and realized I'd rather have guys that attacked the defenses cause they would get the loot afterwards, rather than get killed trying to steal the loot.

Anywho, maybe they are still used, but im TH 10 and gob lv 2...

i say make it look like the lvl of gold storages u have. so if it looks like one it would be hard to determine which one is a trap and which ones arent

I assume, that he just used goblins because of there attractiveness to resources. I figure that it would be tripped by any troop that attacked it.
