Should I upgrade my Town hall to 9?

Hi guys,
All my defences are maxed apart from 1 Tesla, all Archer Towers, and 2 Cannons, which are all one off max. All elixir upgrades are maxed apart from lightning spell (lvl 4) and my 2nd Dark barracks (lvl 3).
Dark elixir upgrades:
Minions: lvl 3
Hogs: lvl 2
Valkyries & Golems: lvl 1
BK: lvl 8
I have 4 Builders, but am close to getting a 5th.
Walls are at 12 lvl6, 188 lvl 7, 25 lvl8
I am wondering whether to upgrade to TH9 soon or not.
I am fairly active, but I never have too much gold or elixir, so I only upgrade walls when I choose to.
Whenever I ask people on global, they always say 'max your walls first' etc but I have almost finished my elixir upgrades, just lightning spell and my 2nd Dark Barracks lvl 4, so my elixir will be wasted.
Is it really worth it to press on with all my walls, or should I upgrade when all my defences are done, or go now?
I would also love to be able to use lavaloonion

Where are your walls at? I would say at least get a start on skulls if you can. Maybe minimum 1/3 skulls done. Otherwise you will just waste your elixir at TH9 instead of TH8 and it's harder to get up at TH9. Also you will be behind on d.e. upgrades if you go up now.

I definitely get the built up elixir at TH8 but unless you have at least a good start on skulls to dump it into at TH9 it's not worth pushing up.

If you can't spend elixir, then move up. The start of TH9 is very elixir heavy and then you can dump into walls if you have some skulls (like the other poster said).

Side note: farming at TH9 is GREAT. Having the AQ makes up for any possible complaints about the loot penalty vs TH7 and below. That queen will get you to the storages so well that you'll never look back.

I am a new-ish th9 and I can tell you from experience that you will want to upgrade all of your defenses first. The loot is goes down so much and for good farming I need to go to 1600-2000 trophies. That is decently high and you will find other good people there that can raid you so you should save yourself some of the trouble and max out all your defenses before th9. Clash On!!!

I was in a similar situation, had all my splash damage maxed but was 1 off on arc towers and teslas were behind.

But I did have my king maxed, and hogs maxed at th8 only because I'm a hogger in war. I sat on max elixir for about 2 weeks while trying to grind out skull walls before I made the jump to TH9, glad I did. I was halfway to full skull walls when I got to TH9 and just recently finished them up and starting with leggos. If I were you, I'd make sure all your builders are idle, and you have max resources and 40K DE when you make the jump. You'll want the AQ right away if possible. But if you can't get 40k at TH8, it becomes a lot easier at TH9.

Once you get to th9 I suggest building your farming army first, and farm in the Gold 2-1 range. I've had much success there. Good luck! :thumbsup:

This is just not true. You don't need max def when you get to TH9, you're going to be dumping all your resources into lab, spell factory, army camps, x bow, etc when you get to TH9. When you log off you shouldn't be sitting on loads of resources. Search for good farming bases on here as well. I've been at th9 for over 2 weeks and I've only been hit 2 times for other than a townhall snipe.

Getting to 1600-2000 trophies isn't that hard. There's still good collector raids to be had at TH9, I mainly farm with barch or bam and have had no trouble finding collector raids and 50%. Don't be afraid to upgrade because of "Loot penalty"

Having read all your answers, I have decided to do my tesla and cannons, and a few more skulls, then upgrade TH. Is this good?
Also, I will have time for one more DE upgrade before AQ, what should it be? I will be using lavaloonion at TH9 so minions or BK?

Sorry, I meant to put wall lvls in the OP, I have done so now.😃
25 Skulls should be enough for dumping elixir in for now :), there is a lot of elixir upgrades at the beginning of TH9 to keep me occupied anyway!
