DaRT's Complete LavaLoon Guide - 3 Stars Assured - 50,000+ Users

Hey guys,

I wasn't going to make this thread but looking at all of the requests for help with LavaLoon attacks on here this morning I figured it might be useful.

Before I get into the guide, if you're reading this then you're probably looking to improve at using LavaLoon strategies - aren't we all - so as one Clasher to another, this will help. I've watched first hand as many members of my clashing family; the 9 Centum clans, have used these guides to become master's of this attack so if you're keen to learn then keep reading.

I'll break this guide into 3 parts; Beginner, Experienced & Expert. If you're brand new to the strategy (or Hounds in general) start at Beginner. If you are already able to 3 star with it but want to become more consistent then begin with Experienced. If you're able to 3 star at will and think you know everything about LavaLoon attacks then give the Expert video a go.

I have taken in the videos on previous occasions, and I can say that they all helped me to mature my understanding of lavaloon attacks, including their strengths and weaknesses. Now, I wouldn't say 3 stars are assured though, there is still plenty of room to mess up ;)

Lol - well I won't actually come round and do the attack but I will keep helping until you get it! I've actually got a few of my YT subs currently in clan, working on their attacks. So when I say I'm here to help, I mean it.

Great job with the vids and tutorials, Dart. PentaLavaLoon is an absolutely devastating attack, and it's no wonder all the elite TH9 designers are scrambling around trying to find a way to stop it.

It will be interesting to see how much LavaLoon is affected by the air sweeper, which I assume is SC's attempt to nerf the attack and perhaps make Loonian raids harder at the higher league levels.

We have to wait and see once we see different base designs and once bases have upgraded sweepers.

From what I have seen of level 1 air sweepers, you can completely ignore them at TH9+. Just go right into the wind. If you are extremely unlucky it might ruin your raid. Obviously, if you attack from its backside, then there is no difference whatsoever, except for the additional HP needed to take out.

Let's see how it works in real attacks when they are upgraded. It brings another potential challenge to this complex game. More strategizing sounds fun and exciting to me.

Edit: I would like to add that the Clash Wiki is currently incorrect. It does not push air constantly. It does so in wind gusts with a pause in between. If it did push air constantly we'd be in serious trouble!

Thoughts on new Lavapup AI?

Wanted to see if anyone else has noticed a change in the AI of the lavapups (once the lava hound is destroyed). Seems like the pups don't go straight to the queen anymore, which is creating a bit of an issue. Thoughts? Or maybe I just need to get better at lava loon... ha!

There are a number of people saying the Lava Pup AI is less persistent/reliable when it comes to the Queen Kill, which is probably a deal breaker. Ergo, Cold-Blooded and Shattered Kill Squads are the new meta and pretty much requisite for most hardcore clans.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that one of the update features was to make troops need to be closer to attack defendong troops.BTW DaRT, I am a HUGE fan of all your vidoes! I have just been made War leader of my clan, so I am sending all of our TH9s to watch your vds.

The aggro change affects golem kill squads quite a lot too. With very few wiz to create a funnel, it is not as assured that your heroes will go into the base to kill the enemy aq/AD. Big risk of them circling.

If you funnel properly with wiz you can easily prevent the heroes from wondering. Ive gone from penta (before update) to golava (after update) and havent had any issues with funneling. Send wiz to outer most structures, within range of the golem, once they are destroyed send heroes.

I've had hero funneling problems. it depends on the base design. It's easy if you're trying to hit right in the middle, but if you're near a corner, sometimes the queen ends up walking outside and completely jacks up your attack.
