Poll for clan leader

Hi everyone,

This idea came to me because of a problem we are having in our clan.

Due to an error, an inactive player was set clan leader. Unfortunately, no one in the clan knows this guy and so we are stuck with co-leaders.

After contacting Supercell through a series of e-mail we have only one option left, quit the clan and form a new one if we want to have a leader. This bother us because of the experience gained over some great clan wars.

I partially understand the reasons why Supercell does not want to demote an inactive clan leader, and completely why they don't want to give us his e-mail address so that we can contact him.

Therefore, an idea came to me to solve this situation. This might also help revive some inactive clans.

I would like a feature that would allow a co-leader to start a poll to take the clan lead. Each player in the clan à the start of the poll would get a vote, and after an amount of time, from 1 to 3 days, the poll will close and the result would then take effects. Only the votes expressed would be taken in account, and if the majority is ok, then the leadership would swap.

To prevent wrong use of this feature i would recommend some safety measures:
- Maybe raise the majority to more than 50%, like 66% or more
- If the co-leader who started the poll do not get the majority, then he could be demoted to Elder, preventing him to start another poll.

Let's give you some examples to be more precise, with a majority at 50% and a voting time of 2 days

Example 1
A co-leader wants to be leader so he start a poll. There are 35 players in the clan. During the 2 days of the poll, only 25 players vote. 10 of them vote no, 15 vote yes, so the co-leader has 60% of voters ok, he's elected as leader, the leader becomes co-leader.

Example 2
A co-leader wants to be leader so he start a poll. There are 20 players in the clan. During the 2 days of the poll, only 15 players vote. 10 of them vote no, 5 vote yes, so the co-leader has 33% of voters ok, he's demoted to elder, the leader stays leader.

I believe that our case is not isolated, and taking back your clan when you invest time and resources in it could be useful.

Let me know what you think of it, flaws and/or what could be better.

First, let me answer BlahBlah161616 :
Yes, we have a problem in our clan and this feature would be great for us, it's also our fault (well the exLeader fault) if we are in this situation. That was my introduction, and I do believe that before the Clan Experience update this was absolutely not an issue, and that we would have set up a new clan. Now we are close to the level 5, and the clan, as said ShaneHed13 the clan is still running on co.
Even if this is for our own purpuse, I think that this situation will soon become usual.
We tried to reach SC to solve this, but their answer where :
- Create a new clan
- We can't demote a leader
- We can't kick an inactive player
- We can't give personnal information (This one I'm clearly ok with :p)

The problem with the clan leader appened 1 week ago, the clan was already at level 4. But i think we are in the "can't engineer stupid out of the game" category ! And before coming to the forum i tried to solve this without a new feature !

I was also aware of the misuse that players can have with this feature, this is why I requested comments and improvements :D

I like the idea of polls in general, but i think that this was requested before and wanted to add something a bit different

Reading you was great, and again i thank you.

I think know that a poll might no be a good solution to demote a leader, maybe the automatic switch to a co-leader is a better answer. As said, if you are a responsible leader and you know that you are going away from the game, for good or for a long period of time, then you WILL promote someone else.

Having an inactive leader could also happen to anyone if he has an accident (IRL I mean) - Then it's not stupidity, it's just misfortune. Would you like to give up to your clan because of such reason ?

Thanks, any ideas on improvements that might made this feature secure and added to CoC ?

Don't you think a functioning Democracy will upset some of the foreign players?

I believe this:


1. if you have an inactive leader, then leave, and also, if he was promoted to leader then that's your clans fault.

2. Polls SHOULD be added, but simply for the power to create a democracy in which people get to vote, the poll itself should have absolutely no power on the result.

3. Why are you requesting them to code something like this, not to add more capability to the clan, as in create a slight democracy where people can use it out of the good of their heart, but simply so you and your clanmates are happy? I believe that requests added by Supercell shouldn't be because people are being greedy and want a way to overthrow e leader, but to make the game no fun.


In my opinion, you are trying to add a way to start a mutiny and overthrow the leader.

Let's say there are 15 people in a clan and they (senselessly) give out co after a certain amount of donations or co for free.

Now let's say that a group of 17+ trolls come and some get co.

The co could start a poll and get all the other trolls to vote for him.

Thus, the co is leader and now can do what he wants with the clan, and the trolls could repeat this process with other clans.

A game with raging barbarians destroying a village doesn't really need democracy...
