The forum has recently lost a few mods & the ones who remain are stretched thin. Let's also keep in mind mods are all volunteers. They do have lives, families, jobs, & a need to sleep the same as the rest of us. <Gasp> Let's try to give them a little slack, at least when it comes to cutting persistent spammers off at the knees. Spammers putting a big pile of threads up on general! I can't report them as fast as they can put them up!
This is pure crazy. I have never seen this many spam threads. What is going on? If sc cant keep mods to maintain control they need to hire someone. That folks is my humble opinion.
Yes, it is CRAZY here with the spam!! Why are we so targeted? Makes you wonder if there are a lot of other forums in the world that are being inundated like we are...

Soon is weekend and the mods have hopefully free time to fight against the spam. :)
They target as many sites as they can, whether it is active like this one or not. My own website is relatively inactive since I stopped teaching and they spam it too. Anyplace with a comment board or a guestbook is vulnerable. It stinks
Keep in mind though that every time you report a thread all the mods get an email. Plus it isn't necessary to report each and everyone. Just mention in the report that there are a lot and which forum they are on. If you know a mod is on line, you can just PM that one too. More reports doesn't necessarily mean faster results. They can only go so fast and I'd like to thank them for all their work. I am sure they know that we don't blame them and appreciate what they do

When this happens go onto one spam thread only hit the report button in the description tell them there is multiple other threads in the general section too, they will get rid of them, just takes time :) they have a spam filter but these ones have slipped through :)Quote:

All these spam threads have one common phone number in their title. It shouldn't be that hard setting up a filter. If vbulletin doesn't have such options, there are plugins that can help.
You can also use hidden form fields to prevent bot registrations.

I think one post about black magic would suffice, otherwise, how am I meant to choose? So many guru's, so little time :smirk::)
