This would be op. What if you got attacked by all level 6 distant archers.

Your idea is extremely vague. How much more range? How much DPS? Health? Housing space? Cost?
"Distant archer" doesn't really sound like a troop. A troop name should be more than just a description of what it is; for example, giant wouldn't be "beefy weak big man".
