Warren logic 101: say people are writing a "book" or putting in to "much effort" if they write a couple paragraphs. Then goes and writes 5 himself.

Even before the opt in/out, there was still issues with people that weren't included in the war sneaking in, and for those really 'sneaky'/desperate, could use an alt account from elsewhere.

Plus, filtering out people, especially for young clans is hard, and it only takes one person to open the door for them, especially if the clan has Elder for most everyone. Which does happen. :facepalm:

The easiest way to block it is just close the clan.

That is a lot effort, or isolation, for a clan to go through, just to stop a person from peeking inside your group. Who is going to keep taking screen shots of other clan's roster? Or whatever 'needs' to be done to protect from a spying threat?

Was this a mod that people could add on thier own? Because that is a key difference between that, and CoC.

I've actually screen shotted an enemy's clan since the first hour it was a 10v3. So I had to keep in check with that. But yeah the answer is to close the clan and always has been. They do it on all upper level game play.
