Thanks Captain Obvious.
OK, so my idea is... wait for it...

To have an active moderator here!
Brilliant, right!? :D Can't wait for the feature to be added in game.
You read, but yet you don't. How is this possible?

I think with is Warren's round about way of putting his name in as moderator of the Ideas & Feature Requests forum.
I'll support that! He's active and knowledgeable, we don't always agree but who does
I wish.. :(
I maybe active, but then I'd have to be more active here, and like what AxionXD said, I'd need to be better connected to Supercell.
Plus, it would change several things too, since I'd have to change the way I address people, handle issues, and having a big green Mod tag will have people see me as someone different.
Just can't see getting the time and drive to do even half the requirments expected to start up as a mod.
Well half the time you are putting in would definitely see an improvement in the current state of the forum I would think. The connection to super cell, not sure how that works, but I'd assume you'd get a contact info for someone who works on the game to throw lists of ideas, hell even the current list of ideas to get it updated. Update that, scrap some redundant threads and people will get the idea soon enough when everything is cleaned up a bit I'd think.
In a moderator role you have to put your personal feelings aside and focus more on what the rules are. (this is also regardless of what rules you agree with) Whether you agree with a post has to have less to do with your thinking than whether it follows forum rules.
If we were to have a group of forum cops here, especially considering we are talking about a self appointed group, there would have to be that same sense of responsibility to how it conducts itself. otherwise there is no hope for credibility.
There are those here that enjoy how one can use the forum to vent their irritations and various moods of the moment. You would have to be willing to give that up. The same goes for your feelings for that 12th lightning rod suggestion of the day (submitted under the title - Read now!!!!! Best idea ever!!!). You have to have it in you to do no more than to quietly report it. No sermons, no biting comments.
So give that thought before wanting to be part such a thing.
Yeah, I suppose it's a cost to benefit ratio. I haven't been all that active and am already getting bored with coming on here. Rarely any new ideas, the current list of ideas is not updated. I think for the active people when the quality of the forum gets poor enough that they either have to chose to play nice and attempt to actively improve the forum, or do what we (you) are doing now which, despite best efforts, hasn't been too much of a help.
Sure, it's fun to make fun of people for terrible ideas, but at some point even that loses it's luster and perhaps a moderator role will be worth the different demeanor/approach that comes along with the responsibility.
Can't create a new thread in ideas and request until (account) has acquired 50 posts.
Huh, the irony of this... newbie posting about stopping newbies posting. (nevermind the fact they would be past thier own suggested post count. :smirk:)
Please look up the other (semi)active thread on the topic, or even check out the link in my signiture. Not about to go into detail, again, on why that won't work as well as first expected.
As for the restrictions on being a Mod, yeah, rwelshjr pretty much detailed practically all of it. I sometimes practice being unbaised and objective, but in my current state, I can't maintain that for as long as SC would want me to
And we haven't even gotten into the issue of if the person's old account would be converted, or if they get a new one. Both have issues that could fill several pages.
Being a mod can be stressful at times (I'm a mod outside of the clash world, yeah there's a world out there), but it depends on how you act. Along as you don't talk like the police and just another player, people seem to understand that and accept it.
Of course there will be times where one has to put their foot down in defence of x y and z rule(s).
Personally, I don't think it distances one from the players too much if handled well. (then again, this is a larger community).
Every mod I've ever heard of in any type of game/chat room are chosen from the humble beginning of a mortal player/user. Admins usually have mod privileges and more, but lets the mods do the modding most of the time :)
Just going to say, I have under 50 posts and myself have indeed posted in the new ideas subfourm. Read the stickies, and did search so I wasn't just saying the same old thing.
Depends on the person, but imo this may hurt more than it'll gain. (eg, useless posts in other subforums) as well as putting off others who may have a good idea.
