Attacking maxed out TH8's at TH8 level

Hey all, this is my first forum post. I know, scrub right? Anyway...here is my question/topic...I have an account that is a lvl 117 with maxed troops and basically lvl 20 heroes, however most is gemmed.

I decided to make a new base (TH8 now) that is completely legit from a time standpoint, meaning I don't gem for time, but occasionally will boost barracks. I am a very solid attacker and have a number of attacks in my arsenal on both accounts.

Lately however, I have been hitting this plateau where I can no longer 3-star...I have tried gowipe, dragloon, you name it...I simply cannot get 3-stars on a maxed th8.

Has anyone been having success getting 3-stars on maxed TH8 bases in war? If so, what attack style do you like to use?

I'm a nearly maxed th8, and I'm the highest th8 in my clan for wars, I almost always get 3 stars on maxed th8s. I use either 2 attacks: all drags, 2 rage, 1 heal and maxed loons in the cc. If they have all lvl 6 ADs, I use my favorite attack: GOWIVAPE!!! It's really unstoppable. GOWIVAPE: 2 golems, 8 Wizards, 8 valks (yes! Valks!!!), 1 pekka, 8 wall breakers, and 3 archers with maxed wiz in cc. YouTube GOWIVAPE, you can thank me later. Hope this helped.

It's common for Maxed TH8s to hit the point where hitting other Maxed TH8s for 3 stars consecutively and consistently becomes a bit more challenging.

Have you tried flat out hogging bases?

I am never against Valks...I will look into it.

I did fail to mention my Pekka, golem, Valks, and hogs are still at th7 level, with Pekka 4 days away from lvl2...so my troops are a little weak, but I can still execute attacks...I will try GoWiVaPe.

I haven't tried hogs yet because they are only lvl 2 but soon enough I will get them up, but golems and Pekka first!

Drags is definitely gonna be hard to use when attacking maxed out th8 as archer tower 10 and tesla 6 could be a pain in the ♥♥♥, hogs is the easiest to three star maxed out th8!

Max th 8 I use 3 units. Drags hogs loons. Mass drags with 3 lighting works great when two ads are close together. I also use loons or hogs for snipe.

Recently I have been coming against spread bases where drags are just two slow to three star so I drop a drag and add 10 minions. If I'm lucky the trigger a seeking mine. But the minions are really just there for clean up and to guide the drags in. No need for fancy attacks just basic attacks.

Hogs are awesome at lv 3 and can't wait for lv 4. Upgrade em asap and you will find that little will stand in your way.

Bro, if you can get ur golems to lvl2, it makes a huge difference in all ground attacks for th8! But yea, valks AI is the best in the game, they will drop anything they're doing to go after the cc troops, they obliterate heroes quicker than anything, and they will gut the Town hall compartment in seconds. And if you rage them forget about it!!! Try the GOWIVAPE and let me know how it works. It takes practice though, once you get it down, you will be unstoppable. And lastly, hogs are great too, once you get your hogs to lvl 4, they annihilate any maxed th8 if used properly. For that look up GOHOG for th8! The bottom line is, different strat works for certain bases, once u have all of them down, they will prepare you for th9... Good luck and clash on!!!

3 lightening only works early TH8 and TH7. Never seen 3 lightening works on maxed out TH8.
I don't recommend 3 lightening with dragons. 2 rage and 1 heal is the best combination for dragon rush.

For Hog, if your opponent has lvl 3 giant bomb, lvl 3 hogs will be melted. I don't recommend to use hog unless it is lvl 4.

Recently, my hog became lvl4 and having fun with it. If you plan it out and know where you attack, it is easy to get 3 stars on maxed th8. Make sure to bring 3 heal spells and drop the heal spell not on hogs but the path they are heading too.

I did it in the last war 9 lv3 drags 10 lv 3 minions 1 lv1 drag and 1 lv 3 loon lv 10 bk. 3 lv5 lighting. Zap one ad broadside other two lv 6 ads with drags and clean up and guide with minions. The most important thing is reducing those ads asap. Heal or rage with drags are a waisted when you can zap an ad and save two or more drags worth of damage.

1 lv 6 ad cancels out a lv 5 heal in less then 6 secs. And most attack with drags takes at least 18 secs for drags to destroy ad once it enters its range. If 3 ads are attacking at the same time you have over 4000 damage in just 6 secs. In another words two heal would still have you lose at least 3 drags just from ads while zaping 1 ad saves at least 2 drags from taking that damage assuming you can get your drags in. With two ads close together and pathing to em your odds are better with zap instead of heal rage. Most attacks against max th8s are close and don't allow for much error especially if they have witches in cc but zapping is still very effective.

Lv 3 hogs have great snipping power and should not be underestimated. But hog attacks are very dependant on base layout.
Like with any attack you will need to be able to know if this is the right attack. Dgb destroy hog attacks so a base with em its better to use a different attack.

Back to max drag attacks it is all about how many drags you have left when ads are all down and if seeking mines have hit yet or not. If you do the math and calculate the damage and time and the loss of two drags off the top for seeking mines you will see what chances you have with the troops your using. Ads on average are all down about 40secs into the attack for me so I have to deal with each ad having the ability to kill 4 DRAGS consider that max is 11 its a no brainer taking out an ad increases your ability to deal damage because 4 more drag will be around.

Well put, nice breakdown!!!!

I forgot to note that if your attack line has to come from a side where your cutters have a chance to work before the ads target em. In another words the cutters have to be outside edge of the two ads attack range and have the ads attack an inside drag before engagement of cutters happen. If a cutter is killed before the path is finished the attack is likely to only get 2 or 1 stars.
