What was your TH9 Experience? How long before you went to TH10?

I'm currently trying to max TH8 and was thinking to myself that if TH8 took this long then TH9 must take forever to max. With two separate levels of walls (Lv9 and Lv10) it seems like fully maxing it would take literally forever. Just curious to know how long I will be there if any of you could share what you think. Here are some details:

1.) I boost my barracks (My only gem spending, nothing else) and I do this once or twice a day on average (More on weekends maybe) and I usually farm for the full 2 hours. Loot varies.

2.) I play consistently, I have 5 builders, and I will max TH8 completely before upgrading to TH9.

I would love to have all Lv10 walls before going to TH10 but obviously that might not be the most efficient method, I'm open to advice.

Plan to get my AQ to Lv5 only for the time being too if that makes a huge difference. THANK YOU! :cool:

My TH9 experience was the worst..

I was an early player, so all these great suggestions about upgrading as much as possible before moving on to the next town hall level didn't really exist at the time, and i ended up upgrading too fast. As a result i stayed at th9 during a year, maxing out my defense and getting all my walls to lvl 8.

I stayed in G2 and used a mix of barch and giants + some goblins. Strong enough to get to storages, but also a good way to pick some free loot from inactive villages.

I decided to move to TH10 this christmas, as i couldn't see myself playing any longer if i only had walls left to do for months. I'm soon to have maxed TH10 defense, and then i can settle down on walls and play the game more casually and have fun helping out my clan mates.

You mention maybe not doing walls going all the way up and queen only to 5? Since walls and heroes are by far the hardest/longest to get at th9 you choices here really determine your time.

Minimium would be lab+lab upgrades which would take 160 days (not much longer then th8) assuming you were fully maxed at th8 (for reference AQ has 158 days if you upgraded her constantly to lvl 30 at th9. So count on a minimum of 6 months here, likely alot longer if you want to get walls up.

Also it depends on how fast you farm, you start running into lab upgrades 6M, defense upgrades everything 3-7M, etc so it becomes much more work to keep all your builders busy.

Currently I'm 3 months into th9. AQ going to 15, BK going to 11. Still have a long way to go on buildings as I'm catching up on collectors and I only have 4 builders (by choice due to imbalance of time between builders and lab).

There's a chart on the wiki. It takes 162 days to max TH9 with 5 builders

162 does include the heroes. The building time (no heroes) is 517 days divide by 5 builders for 104 days.

I started TH9 in the first week of December 2014. I'm planning on moving to TH10 with all my research done, max buildings, max walls (lavas), and almost max heroes (AQ 30/ and high 20s BK)... in about a month. I only have lavas and heroes left to farm. So 6 months at TH9.

I started th9 January 15th or so?
I'm almost maxed defense (one more archer tower to start).
heroes are only 11/12, though.
I have 5 builders.
When I got to th9 I instantly gemmed my AQ to 5 and my spell factory.
(not the resources)

I have roughly 90 legos.

th8 took me roughly 3 months to max including walls and bk to 10.


How long I stay at th9 depends on how long I want to grind heroes and walls.

I think I'm going to go up when my heroes are 20/20, regardless of how many walls I have. But I assume I'll be at LEAST all lego, if not core lava.

Still working on mine, it's perfect. I rushed (maxing troops and such) to get to it. There are so many goodies and new things at TH9, if you max all troops you can easily recover.

Thank you for all of the responses guys! The info helped me with some decisions. Seems like having my heroes at only Lv5 would be a mistake. Sounds like lv20-30 each is a better goal but it will probably take much longer haha. Thanks again, still have like a month left at Th8 but Ill be TH9 for the summer! :D

I will be th10 in less than a week. I became a th9 early November, so I've spent almost 6 months here. Got my walls done and got my king and queen over 20 each.

Only thing I have not maxed was collectors and mines. It's a long time as I don't gem but I feel it's worth it to set the foundations of th10.

I'm in the late stages of TH9. My last buildings are upgrading leaving me only traps to finish. Then I am left with the hero and wall grind. Not sure how long I've been TH9 but all five builders have been going non stop so guess around three months. I have at 134 legos and BK11 and AQ15. I'll stay at TH9 until I have full lavas and whatever my heros are then, but won't upgrade unless they are at least 20/20 but would prefer 25/25.

Ah I see. So getting at a minimum of Lv20/20 heroes is recommended. And i was gunna leave em at lv5 haha. Ok so it's clear that my summer will be spent as a TH9 but im looking forward to all the new goodies like the AQ and xbows and Lv6 Balloons :caticon: - Cant wait

The wall grind and hero grind will be so rough lol, and i think its rough now :straightface:

Heroes BK/AQ at 22/24 respectively, with all legos and 67 lavas, I'm planning on maxing out Lab and heroes before th10. It is imperative to at least have high level heroes before th10 because loot gets scarce at th10. Besides my lab time ties to time to max my heroes anyway. Hopefully to get about 3/4 lavas done before then.

Th9 is the best place to do the necessary wall farming, Th10 is where you would go up high leagues to farm.

I'm a fully maxed account top to bottom.
Back then I was playing TH9 before 10 gem boost even existed. so it might be the reason why I'm TH9 for so long.
I think I was TH9 september 2013 till to june 2014 ish. But I took a 4 month off Clash due to an extended vacation. But I went to TH10 with all level 9 walls plus 50 lv10 walls if i remembered.

IF you really love your walls, do not go to th10 so soon if u intend on doing lv 10s for the look or the functionality. Th9 loot generally more better. You can still pick on abandoned TH8s while TH10 sorta. you are limited to TH9/10s literally... TH8s only offer max of 150k in storages plus any collector loot.

I got to th9 last August. I was a maxed th8 except for valks. I maxed defenses, lvl 9 walls, 15ish heroes and I think all of my troops were maxed (if not then very close) before Christmas. This was also with 2 vacations in that time.
now I've got about 100 lavas to do and my queen is going to lvl 28 and my king is level 20. I've been playing much more casually now. Farm enough DE to keep my queen constantly upgrading and dumping whatever gold and elixir into walls.
