Stuff You Can Do With Player IDs

I have some questions for SC. I know that Anoushka explained the idea pretty well:

However, I think there should be more.

• Ability to blacklist certain Player IDs from joining (kickers, spammers, etc.)
• Ability to choose Player ID (As long as it isn't taken)
• Ability to change Global Chat to the one with a certain Player ID on it (way to find members that have been kicked long before)

Don't think there is any value in being able to choose player id, and I don't think any stalking is appropriate.
Like the first one and also think it could lead to a better 'friend' system.

I'm afraid none of these will be implemented soon, but I like the idea of banning people from your clan. I see the possibility of this to be abused though, so a counter feature like "un-ban" would be needed as well.

The logical next step would be a friends list - mutual of course. Then you would be able to be tracked down by your friends. If you don't want someone to find you then you just delete the friendship.

It would also be good if a clan could have a banned list and an "accepted" list so that people can jump in and out easily when visiting friends etc. I know some may not want to encourage people hopping in and out but that would be for clan leadership to decide.

I think banning a player ID is a good idea. That will help limit the 'change name and sneak back' cases.

I think it will not be long at all before the complaints start that guys want to do it a second time.. A large percentage of the guys crying out were trolls seeking to escape bad reputations. They will quickly earn new bad reputations and be wanting to escape those too. Also there will be the slow learners that decided to change their offensive name that got too many complaints to what they thought was a much more cleverly offensive name, then run into the problem that it is still offensive and getting them reported.

Rather presumptuous of you to assume that a LARGE percentage of the requester are trolls looking for a fresh start. Maybe a large percentage of the naysayers are trolls themselves?

Not assuming. sorry. And no, the trolls are not naysayers. They are quite happy about this.

I rather appreciate your responses. Very well thought out. However honest people make mistakes sometimes. I personally feel this is their monopoly get out a jail free card. Just saying that the vast amount of innocent people should not have to suffer for the few malcontents that will forever live in infamey in our minds.just my opinion and that's not worth a pack of gum really.

Agree that there is mixed in all of this a body of innocent people asking for this with what I personally considered legitimate reasons for wanting to change name. I would also agree that its not fair for these people to have to pay for the behavior of the trolls. (that I still maintain are the larger number) So a one time get out of jail free card might be a good thing for those people.

What I would hope they don't do is then relent and start allowing multiple ones. Any troll that went back to his old ways and now wants to escape a reputation a second time I think there should be no pity for. Frankly the game is better off if guys like that get mad and quit. (Likewise a past troll that realizes he caught a break and goes forth better minding his behavior would count as a win for the game) And I do think then they should allow clans that have a haunt that keeps coming back should be able to ban on player ID. (Expecting anyone to memorize a lot of player IDs is not more reasonable than expecting them to memorize clan IDs) Those measures would only affect trolls, the innocent people would slide right through.

The idiot that changes his name from an offensive one to what he thinks is a cleverly worded offensive one to try walking the line I am not sure what they do with. They certainly will not appreciate it, but they do have to get offensiveness out of the game.

I rather respectfully disagree that trolls requested this more than honest clashers. Is the people of the world more good than bad? Sure some dill hole here an there enjoys harming small animals. But most people wouldn't get any enjoyment kicking a puppy. A lot of bad in this world but I believe there is a whole lot more good! Clash is a community of the same sort. More honest clasher's than trolls by an large.
