I disagree yanks ... We buy gems ..millions of people are buying gems they are already makin a HUGE HUGE profit it wouldn't hurt their pocket one bit to offer collector boosts more often for 1 gem
I agree with smiles. I rarely ever use my gems for collectors but when the boost comes along for 1 gem I waste my gems like no tomarrow so I think of they actual did do it not often then we'd be using up gems a lot more quickly. At least the smart ones would.
I think gems should be less expensive. Either that or there should be "Daily" achievements that give you gems.
Say at there is an achievement: "Clear 4 trees" for 2 gems. After you have cleared 4 trees (and gotten gems from them) you get 2 gems.
You will always have 3 achievements so, when you complete one, it automatically updates to add a third. The achievements shouldn't be hard, and they shouldn't offer so many gems. That way, people can still get daily gems, (say 10-15) by working, WHILE they work on, say doing the permanent achievements (ie: Unlocking dragons, or getting 1250 trophies, like what WE NORMALLY HAVE)
Who's 'we'? I know I don't buy gems. Barely anywhere else buys gems in our clan, that we know of. So I guess people like us are 'nobody'?
Anyway, that's a very broad over simplification of the situation. Supercell is constantly doing a balancing act to keep thier game going strong and making money. It is a high risk business, since one thing could cause a colapse in their popularity and income.
They usually do the one-gem costs for features mostly when they need to, and put a spin on it to hide that fact. Check the announcements, there is an Elixir boosting event right after the whole Elixir/Wall upgrade mess. Think that might be related?
It is thier game, and they do giveaway events like that to spice things up. It is a gift, not an entitlement. Hell, I realized that behavioral effect while barely a teenager in gradeschool! Give a gift too many times, too regularly, and it stops being seen as a gift.
In short: People need to stop begging.
OP and a few others here are basically talking like the guys that feel their friend has worked hard to get a good paying job therefore he owes it to them to pay for dinner.

So the folks saying it wouldn't hurt their profit in particular really have no clue if it would or not.
The basic economics of it say that if you lower the price (temporarily), more people will spend their gems (does the mean more people will buy them? not necessarily, but probably some percentage). So the trick is that you have to lower it enough that the increase in the number of people spending their gems > the decrease in number of gems spent per transaction.
In other words, if cutting the cost of a boost in half resulted in more than twice as many boosts, Supercell wins and so do we. Now, the initial sale will cause a spike, which will then decrease and level off, so the question is then what is the ideal price for a sale and how long can they keep it going?
My guess would be that the 1 gem boost doesn't do much for them, at least not directly. Indirectly, it may bring more people back to the game, at which point some may buy gems for other reasons, but with a 1 gem boost, your total cost for a week is about 120 gems, which most people get easily from achievements and clearing brush. And on the other side of things, people who do typically buy gems to boost resources or buy them outright now may not have to, at least for a bit.
So really, they do it as a thank you to their players, and asking for more is really just being greedy unless you're proposing something that also benefits them. And a 1 gem boost probably won't do it, but a 5 gem boost might.
