Ability to Use Heroes in War While They're Being Upgraded

I would like to talk about a very annoying aspect of the game: upgrading heroes. I understand why we wouldn't be able to use them in normal trophy/farming raids while we're upgrading them. It is only fair that an additional cost of their upgrade would be the inability to utilize them for these types of raids. But why should my clan be punished for me wanting to upgrade my heroes? Heroes are so essential to high level clan war attacks and it almost makes some attack strategies useless if you're king/queen are out of commission. I am at the point now where I am farming enough dark elixir to constantly upgrade my heroes back to back to back. And the fact that I am doing so makes me much less of an asset in wars. In competitive clan wars, every attack matters. The simple fact that I am upgrading my heroes, something every competitive player has to do, gives an unfair advantage to the opposing clan. So much so that it would almost be wise for me to opt out of wars and save my clan the nuisance of having a weak link. But what if multiple people in the clan are upgrading their heroes? It's almost a inevitable event in competitive play. What if four or five people are upgrading their heroes? Your clan would be better off just not even going to war and saving the elixir. You are able to defend with your heroes while they're being upgraded. You're able to utilize the value of your defenses while they're being upgraded. So why is it that while upgrading our heroes we are punished for it in clan wars?
My suggestion is to allow the players to always have access to their heroes during clan wars. I'm not asking to be able to use them during normal raids. It is a fair trade to lose access to them for a couple of days while farming. And players should have to deal with that in a normal raiding sense, because it is only the player himself/herself who is being punished for upgrading their heroes. However I believe the game would be much fairer and much more enjoyable in competitive play if players reserved the right to use them in clan wars. It would increase the value of competitive teammates who are committed enough to frequently upgrade their heroes. It would make clan wars a funner diversion. And it would make the game healthier in a competitive aspect because less committed clans (those who don't play enough to raise the dark elixir funds necessary to upgrade heroes) would not obtain free wins given to them by better, more competitive clans (those who are frequently upgrading heroes). I don't think this upgrade would affect the balance of the game in any way, shape or form other than in clan wars. It would not favor any player over another or yield any unfair advantage in terms of trophy leagues or farming. It would simply make the game healthier and more enjoyable for the competitive players and in turn increase the capacity of total players and the community.
