It should be pointed out that the reason this strategy works is because defense as a whole is a much bigger factor in matchmaking than offense, so the idea is to unlock new troops, upgrade war troops, clan castle, and army camps while not really impacting matchmaking much because you're not upgrading defenses (or if you're using the 8.5/9.5 approach, not building xbows or infernos at all until you've maxed your camps and spell factory and done at least a couple troop upgrades. Obviously you have to dump gold somewhere while doing this though, and walls impact matchmaking the least.

Level 10 never made much sense to me, the jump from 1m to 3 seems a bit steep. Everything else seems pretty much in line though, and a slight reduction from level 8 up wouldnt make much difference in the number of players doing them.


What would be interesting would be a limited time wall sale for CoCs 3rd birthday or something.

You're right, the jump from level 9 to level 10 doesn't make sense. What's even more bizarre is that the jump from level 8 to level 9 is so small, when you consider that level 8 walls can only be purchased with gold, while level 9 walls can be purchased with gold or elixir. Effectively, level 9 walls cost the same as level 8 walls, and then level 10 walls cost 3x as much as level 9 walls. :facepalm:

Simple solution: make level 9 walls cost gold only. It would make the level 9 walls actually make sense. And it would make TH8's feel like things are a little more fair. I mean, not the whiner TH8's, but the ones who just look around and see that the current setup just totally screws the TH8's while giving the TH9's one of the biggest perks in the game (besides the AQ).

I'm perfectly fine with wall prices. Even though going from Lv7 to 8 costs more than the Gold Grab achievement, it shows who really has dedication, and higher level walls are normally very intimidating. A maxed TH8 with lv6 walls seems MUCH easier to attack than a maxed TH8 with all Lv8 walls. I've definitely skipped over TH8s that I could've attacked just because it looks more difficult to attack.

Not quite. Gold and elixir effectively hold the same value. For example, you can buy the same amount of elixir as gold with gems.

Level 9 walls still cost twice the resources required for level 8 walls.

What you're really saying is that level 9 walls cost the same amount of gold as level 8 walls IF you only use gold on 125 walls and elixir on the other 125. In reality, you'd only be getting half the amount of walls for the same amount of gold. The other 125 would still have to be purchased for that additional 125 million elixir, making them twice as expensive.

You would have to spend 250 million gold on level 9 walls if you didn't use elixir, or 250 million elixir if you didn't use gold. But even if you spent the same amount of gold as you did on level 8 walls, you'd still have to spend an additional 125 million elixir to get all level 9 walls.

No matter how you look at it, level 9 walls cost twice as much as level 8's.

Walls are scary, I don't attack bases with level 9 walls even if they have th8 Defenses and I'm using loonions or drags. I'm a bit stupid but they're scary! :/ :smirk:

Anyway walls arent rent really that expensive except 10-11. And wouldn't the people with fully maxed bases be mad, remember when heroes were nerfed and the back lash that caused?
