The only mod i've seen here is loopy. Who's An outstanding mod in my op, The head mod for this (twister.) doesn't even exist here. And has been messaged twice by me about this thread.

I wish there was a forum script that would message back to the thread maker that there title is not good.
Like those post with "Please Read!1!!1" should get an error message to change it, along with, "Moderators and Staff do read every post. There is no need to beg to have your thread read."
"Best/Awesome/Smart/etc.. Idea Evarz!"
"Just the facts please. Viewers would be the judge on how good it is."
"To Supercell..."
"Who else would it be in this forum? Lucas Arts? EA?..."
"Suggestion/New Idea/etc"
"Yes, that is what this forum is for, but what is it? Please put what it is on a few words in the title."
"Please fix Nowz!!1!1"
"Which is it, a suggestion or a bug report? Bug reports go to Bug and Problems forum."
Of course we'd then have people attempting to make threads with bad titles just to see the amusing responses. :smirk:
I had sarcastic humor in there?
...
Wait! Was that sarcasm? :saywhat:
(oh the possible irony of it)
Anyway, it got me thinking of maybe using the main villain you see at the start of CoC, the one that you see almost everywhere in the game, as the forum's error message deliver. That way you can get away with wise @$$ remarks, since it is expected from a money grubbing ugly little green skined twerp. It's in his contract after all. How else do you think the picture of him in the League demotion screen, with him pointing at the helper villager in a taunting way was made? (That reminds me, I'm the Chief of the place, and I still don't know her name! How embarrassing.)
Apologies, having partially caused this stir, I stepped back from this for a while (i needed time to think and be clear on what I and probably you guys want aswell) and I largely agree with these reforms:
The only thing I am hesitant on is point 2 of the prevention side of things.
Regarding Ruled out Items:
I agree there should be a subforum and this is how I think it would best work:
1) Moderators and Staff can only add new threads to this, as and when new ruled out items come in.
2) All current ruled out Items have their own thread that anyone can reply to, to keep discussion going as necessary.
All new posts to IFR get moderated before being posted - this is a principle similar to freecycle where emails aren't circulated until they are checked for spam or breaking the rules/ethos of freecycling. Obviously I think there is a growing need for more mods for this to happen IMO and experience.
Regarding Enforcement, Number 1 is imperative to keep the structure as it is and the need for more mods seems to be aparant as there is a lot of cleaning up to do.
Finally outdated threads or closed threads should be in an archived subforum aswell.
Full support if the mod force will back it. They are either spread too thin or ignoring the forums. A couple weeks ago there was a kid who posted the same heavily racist rant on three different forum pages and it sat they all sat there for 10 hours before removed. Unfortunately Welsh, none of these ideas matter when blatant abuses are allowed to go unchecked all day.
Good discussion. I have added some of it to the OP.
Some of it was already covered in the 'be nice' suggestion.
I also saw that argument that ruled out ideas should be brought up and discussed over and over and over 9and over) again because maybe if we yell enough SC will change their mind. I want to clarify that this is very flawed. The poster based their entire argument on the name change ruling which is an incorrect premise that actually shows they are not aware what is going on really.
- They claimed it was because it was the most suggested. it is actually way down the list. Midddle of the road next. (If you disagree then show me numbers that it is ahead of lightning rod, punish hoppers, Heroes usable during war, donating/trading resources, new flags, and I can go on for a bit here)
- The decision had nothing to do with the number of forum posts for it. they had a problem crop up in the game stemming from the sheer amount of offensive/inappropriate names out there both blatant and more so borderline. This became a bigger problem more recently with the rapid growth of weaponized reporting (the examination of a war opponent for any little thing that can be reported to bring about a ban and the war advantage that comes with it). They do have to (in order to cover their own tail) warn and ban in response to reports even though they know it is just a game being played by the person reporting. Even borderline cases they have to respond to the eye of the beholder. (who is trying to find trouble in it). This is resulting in just too much volume of disciplinary activity. They are now going to give everyone a bite at the apple to clean it up and hope that if it is easier to do so enough guys will do it and thereby help the problem with the reporting volume. They have always had a mechanism for changing inappropriate names but it was a case by case method never designed for volume. They are going to make a way that can handle volume. And at the same time get out of the business of deciding what is appropriate enough to warrant a change and what is not. (and the next complaint id going to be all the ways guys exploit this for trolling, either from sneaking back into clans under a new identity to troll, or changing the name to match someone else's as a way to mess with them) The point here being that all the guys that griped about the ruled out idea had no bearing whatsoever on the matter and were never right to do so.
- The regular review (prevention #1) does speak to what happened here. As soon as SC decided they needed to rethink whether to allow name changes they should have moved it to the under consideration list. That of course then makes it fair game for guys to bring up over and over. But if they were in fact considering it then it should be fair game for that. If they are considering something then guys should be free to bring it up regardless of whether the rest of us agree and want to hear it.
Sigh, agreed.
My post does acknowledge the elephant in the room which is that the mods do fall down on the job. To be fair to them I will add that I suspect its more them being spread too thin rather than just laziness or poor performance. But the bottom line is that it is failing. (That kid with the racist rants was a prime example but we have many others) So to that end I will point out that there are a lot of regulars here that are willing to help and loudly saying so. I have seen several suggestions that involve limited powers being given to guys to move/merge threads. The best I thought were coupled with a grouping of sub forums to move them too. (One being Ruled out idea discussion)
