for TH8, i'd stay dragloon. once you get to higher TH8-TH9, Gowipe becomes a good strategy to get 2 stars on tough opponents. The problem with Gowipe is that it's very hard to get the third star, especially as a TH8. for TH8, i'd stick with dragloon for the best chance at 3 stars.
Personally I would say gowipe. I'm a maxed th8 and very rarely do I never three star another th8.
Always used Drags as a TH8. Wish I had upgraded hogs though...
Totally depends on the base. I use either or with my th8 in war. If it's very spread out base I'm more likely to use balloonain or gowipe, or just throw some minions in my dragloon, depends. For tighter bases I use dragloon if the air defs are clustered and accessible, and gowipe if dragloon isn't going to cut it.
Depends on the design of the base. There's no one attack for every base, you adjust your composition to match the base.
I 3 star more with Dragaloon than gowipe. Most bases are not spread out to where a GoWiPe is my preferred option. Currently working on lvl 4 hogs though and that will make a goho/goloho/hogs strat very viable.
I have found out govape and Gowiz work very well with TH8 you just need to have a good understanding of a Valkaries to pull off 3 stars
Depends on the base really.
Why would you use loonion on a spread out base? I think it's just the opposite. Loons take too long to traverse a spread out base, but dragons tend to do better. There are only a few defenses targeting the dragons at any particular spot, unlike a tight base, where the dragons can get beat on by half of the defenses while they're working on a couple of storages.Quote:

Like many have said, it really comes down to base design. But between the two, I would choose dragloon. I find it very difficult to 3 star a maxed th8 with gowipe personally. But I usually stick to hogs, holo, goho, or GoWiVa. The valks are great troops with their speed, AOE damage, and high health. The speed they gain really helps pick up that 3rd star.

Note that, at the top end, however, it loses it's luster. All the bases I see nowadays are AD666, maxed out Teslas, etc and Dragloon just gets dicey in my mind. GoWiPe is okay, but I'd rather GoWiVa in most situations. Loons as a finisher for either is definitely my preferred strat

Gowipe is a 2* strategy, and is outdated/obsolete. Great for getting 2*, but i'm in a farming clan and even we don't expect a war to end with any th8's not 3*. That said it can work on some bases, especially with loons mixed in, and is worth learning for future (gowiwi and gowiwipe)
Dragoon works well upto ad666, but once the wt, at, and tesla are maxed it's not viable unless the base is poor.
My regret at th8 was not doing my hogs earlier, believing the 'nerf' was a real thing. if you plan a hog attack properly it is easily the most powerful th8 attack. And unlike dragoon it sets foundations for th9 attacks.
The only time I would use GoWiPe at TH8 is if you are at the top of your clan, have lvl 3 pekkas, 5 wizards, and 2 golems, and are trying to 2 star the enemy clan's #1 or 2 and you know you can't 3 star with drags.
In short, GoWiPe is more likely to 2 star when they have lvl 6 AD's, but Dragloon is WAY more likely to 3 star a reasonable target.
DragLoon if you are experienced enough with it. With a little practice, in no time you can 3 star nearly every TH8 opponent you come across. GoWiPe is less reliable, especially because for most good clans you need to 3 star everything to have a decent chance in wars. There are many dragloon guides, but I'd recommend watching "JTJU's" guides on youtube, or you can find their forum posts from their leader Wryhorn here on the forums.

There's no such this as 2 or 3 star strategy. The the skill and knowledge of the attacker makes the attack a 2 or 3 star attack.
My hogs hit 3 tomorrow. Is this level viable for 3 starring maxed TH 8 or do I have to wait until they are 4?

In my opinion, at TH8 Dragloon/Dragoon trumps using GoWiPe if you correctly use the strategy getting those efficient 3 stars constantly over 2 stars using GoWiPe on strong TH8s.

Thnx a lot for all ur reviews clashers! Got my drags to 3 now! I know many of y all would have liked the hog option but it wasn't thr cuz I didn't upgrade my hogz in th7. They have now come to lvl 2. I use my version of Dragloon,with 3 lightening spells instead of the heal n rage spells. The Way I do it is,I lightening the most difficult to reach air defense with the lightening spells.funnel the drags around the other two and drop max loons on the air defense which is difficult to reach by the drags.The drags take the last ad down, and the base is done.
I got 12 stars in the past two wars that I had in my new clan,6 Schlitzes. All perfect raids.The bases had max air defenses,max wiz towers and lvl 9 archer towers.

I would recommend using dragloon or hogs if you want a 3 star. Gowipe is more of a 2 star strategy
Hogs. But GoWiPe is a two-star attack, so I'd go dragon/balloon.
