Cannot close menus

If I open a menu (like the info menu for every building and entity) I am unable to press the "X" to close it. Everything else I can still touch. I am able to get out of the menu by clicking the "Shop" icon, but if I do this something even worse happens:

The lower half of my screen becomes mostly untouchable, and if I try to touch it, I am unable to touch anything else on the screen for several seconds. This affects me outside of the game too, until I turn my iPhone back to portrait (so even if I am on the main screen of my iPhone, where the apps are, but have not turned back to portrait mode after playing CoC, the lower half is still untouchable). The only thing that fixes that in-game is closing the app and reopening it. But, of course, the problem reoccurs once I open another menu...

It was fine until either yesterday or today, I can't really remember... This is a major problem and makes the game unplayable.
