apart from the people who are enjoying playing the game that is, they wont enjoy it, but hey i think you were just talking about your own enjoyment :P

OK great, not only someone that thinks thier idea is the only way to fix it, but admitting having a biased skew on it. (just like human nature XD so can't dis it too much)
Let me bring you up to speed on things so you might be able to be more open minded to things than this bitter pill you think CoC must take to solve it's problem.
First off, the symptoms.
and could go onto the point of ad nauseum (or many already have. :smirk:)
- People going totaly counter intuitive and putting Town Halls outside walls to be attacked.
- People staying online for hours and hours on end, but effectively doing nothing.
- People raging about the current situation of 'always' being raided by someone one Town than level higher than them.
- Dispite loot loss limits, people still complain about being raided.
- Pre TH9-TH10 gameplay (aka, before end-game, or before things are as leveled up as you can get them) loot is more valued that trophies.
- Revenge system criticised as being 'useless', because of so many people under active Shields.
The diagnosis I came up with, defence gameplay is horrible! No one wants to deal with it. They use exposed Town Hall layouts, and obsessively keeps the game online to keep the bad aspect of the game at bay just so they can have fun and not have to stop playing CoC and utterly waste what time they have invested into the game.
Your idea will never be used, because it is too painful of a fix for players wanting to have fun to deal with. Based on seen human behavior, people would just leave the game and stop playing once the idea you propose overcomes the drive to not waste what a person has already invested into the game. Same with any ideas that mess with Shields in a bad way or disincentives the exposed Town Hall setup.
Treat the cause, not the symptom. Keeping people offline with an 8 hour daily limit will likely wreck Supercell's prized game. Since it is thier main means of income, they are going to do things very cautiously so not to lose not only thier 'money making' game, but thier jobs. So keep that in mind when making ideas. Anything drastic or risky will not likely be put onto the table of to be considered because of this.
I would honestly stop playing the game if they put something like this.
