I would dispute that claim. I think the ore savy player does not just glance at a couple numbers to size a guy up. And I think there are more smart players out there than you give credit for.Quote:

Now I see where I go wrong with my discussions. :facepalm: I forget about the fact that some (most?) people see things in overly simplified blank and whtie terms. Yes levels are almost meaningless, but also they have some meaning. As I said before personal levels are kinda-sotra-but-not-quite-accurate measurement of how developed a base is.
It isn't reliable on it's own, but paired with other things, looking at thier achievements, and building upgrades it can help a little.
Levels as they are need to be gutted out and points audited, along with tightened up rules to prevent exploits. Otherwise, it's best feature is player ego stroking. It has so much potential, but that potential got stunted a good while back.
