Hidden cage trap
What about a hidden cage trap that works a lot like a spring trap but captures troops instead of bouncing them?
the cages capacity will be dependent among how many free housing spaces are in your CC.
the weight trigger should be the same as the spring trap (i.e. PEKKE and Golems don't trigger it.).

Expanding from this, because, well, it sounds like a spring trap....
If the cage trap could be used for the next defense(sort of like another CC but hidden), it would be pretty cool. It would even work for clan wars and make it harder to 3 star a base that has already been attacked.
I like the concept.

The combined idea is cool. I really like the idea of a base getting slightly harder for subsequent attacks. That might be good on its own, like CC capacity up by 3-5 troops with ever failed hit. Or maybe 3 dead troops stay as roaming skellies in a base, every time it is hit... Sorry to derail a little from OP.
Does the cage only capture one troop?

The idea sounded pretty balanced to me, though when the idea was first proposed, it was because the realization that the spring trap has had no upgrades. If the cage was the upgrade to the spring trap, in that sense it's way too broken and should be nerfed in some way. Though I would like the spring trap to have an upgrade, I think this should be a separate trap altogether.
as for the TH lvl to obtain the Cage trap, unfortunately I see the balanced zone being TH8-10...

The troops inside the cage could attack their way out of the cage.
Def buildings would shoot at the troops in the trap. If not destroyed, it does not have to be rearmed
