Our clan War Torn Alpha is currently in a two-week trophy push, and I just made it to Champions in about 10 days.
Two Saturdays ago I set up The Strategist, did a few tweaks, put the TH in and went to bed in Gold II. I woke up +100 and was in Crystal II by the end of the day. I basically barched the TH8s and premie 9s until I got to high Crystal I, at which point I rolled out my first Giant-Healer attack in MONTHS. My plan had been to practice Lavaloonion in Crystal before getting to Masters so I knew how to do it...but I was in Masters III by Monday night.
The last week has been really tough. As soon as I got into Masters II, defending became basically impossible unless the person really didn't know what they were doing. Offensively I roll out 2 Hounds plus one (level 2+) in the CC, 24 loons and 20 minions, three Rage, and one Heal for the heroes. Boosted, the army cooks in about 12 minutes and if you're willing to gem your spells to completion (66 gems for the three Rages, 70something including Heal) and someone is on cooking you max Hounds, you can go right back in, or look for snipes while your stuff is cooking.
I did two raids at lunch (boosted spells so they're ready in 45 minutes; that you can't queue spells when boosted is effing ridiculous) and then raided in 3+ hour sessions every night, scratching out 5, 8, 14, 17 trophies here and there, and losing about 15 to 2-star attacks immediately upon logging off. Masters I from 3100+ was by far the hardest.
Only attack 10s you're 100% confident you can get at least 1 star on. Hold the heroes and Heal until everything else is down and try to get them to go to the TH. Use the BK to tank and use the Heal and abilities wisely. If you see a TH8 or 9, attack it. Don't try a questionable snipe without a Rage AND a Heal AND both heroes. I'd drop a minion to check before dropping the AQ as far away as possible.
tl;dr, if you're extremely patient, have the support of your clan (and family), the gems to boost everything every night and gem spells to completion, and the time, it can be done, but I wouldn't describe it as "fun."
