I heard that at th 9 and 10 dragons are useless. (Can somebody confirm that? ) I know all troops
are almost perfectly balanced but what if dragons would get more speed at lvl 4 ? I think
this could be a solution of the problem Supercell
had not thinking of yet.
Please comment my idea and say it if this problem doesn't exist.
1. Upgrades should not modify concrete details such as speed and training time
2. The real problem is that dragons don't work with other troops. They just go off doing what they want and get killed.
Yes it is true that dragons are quite useless once you reach about town hall 9 if not a little sooner. The reasoning behind it as i have noticed is that dragons just don't seem to get you the victory anymore. The TH 9 offer a 4th air defense and also level 7 air defenses if i remember correctly. Level 7 air defenses take out max level dragons very easily and very quickly. Add to that all the damage from archer towers and wizard towers and teslas and anything else I'm missing like Archer queen. There is almost no way to achieve victory with dragons. Remember as a TH 9 you can have 220 troop space in your army camp implying that you can only have 11 dragons plus 1 in your CC. That means 12 max level dragons versus a TH 9 almost never works even with max rage spells. Also dragons are quite slow and a TH 9 base is quite large so trying to 3 star a TH9 with drags is a bad idea.Quote:

My idea would be to make dragons to attack defenses but in a different way than giants or balloons. At first dragons can attack any target but once they are being attack by an defensive structure the dragon should stop and head directly toward the structure. Once destroyed it could go back to targeting anything. If it is being targeted by other defensive structure then repeat. This idea also has flaws that it would need to be determined which defenses it priorities since it would never attack any canons or mortars in this way. It would go directly against the defenses that can attack air troops. It does sound like an effective method but it could also become a very overpowered troop.

Personaly, I was glad to see the back of the darned things by mid th8...... usually only use them as donations to lower TH clannies.....
With all the nerf brigade banging on about lavaloonion being op, Do th9/10 need more air options?
More speed would not solve the dragons problem. They are too strong at townhall 7/early 8 and become useless after that. And they are not very compatibel to other units.
I have 2 suggestions for making Dragons more usefull, maybe u read and add a comment there

level 2 dragons are overpowered for TH7, and level 3-4 dragons are underpowered for TH 9-10.
Level 2 dragons should be held back to TH8. Level 4 dragons need more DPS and HP. Level 5 dragons need more speed.
It's been discussed, but basically, taking level 2 dragons away from TH7 is not a viable option. I mean, Supercell can do whatever they want, but the backlash from current TH7's would be enormous. To solve a problem that can be solved by other options. Honestly, it's not worth discussing, as we could be investing our time and energy into promoting ideas that actually have a chance at being implemented.Quote:

Well I have heard of the dragloon strategy, with the baloons destroying defenses and dragons destroying everything else. Lava dragoon strategy can also work at TH9. They become truly useless at TH10. Then again, many other units like barbs and giants also dont serve much utility at TH9 and 10.Quote:

They are still usable, but by mid TH9 and certainly TH10 you have to know how to get them to go where you want (and recognize when you can't). At lower levels you can just drop a line then watch doing not much more than some spell placement. But higher up you have to understand their targeting (which did recently change a little) and also what structures have what hit points. From there you use them with other troops that take out specific things to prevent your drags from going astray. At TH 8 Dragons are actually balanced i think.
Level 3 Dragons CAN destroy a Maxed TH8 base, but with good base layouts it is getting almost impossible.
So look at maxed
Townhall 8 Defense: 3 AD with 230 DPS, 2 SAM level 1, 3 Tesla(75 DPS) and 5 AT (65DPS)
Townhall 8 Offensive: 10 Level 3 Dragons(2300hp each) + CC(25 slots) + 3 Spells
Townhall 9 Defense: 4 AD with 280 DPS, 4(!!!) SAM Level 2, 4 Tesla (87DPS), 6 AT (75 DPS) +2 X-bows
Townhall 9 Offensive: 11 Level 3 Dragons(2300 HP) + CC(30 Slots) + 4 Spells
The Problem with Dragons is, that theier Level up scaling is ♥♥♥♥.
look at my thread, i still suggest:
Level 1: 1600 HP
Level 2: 1900 HP
Level 3: 2300 HP
Level 4: 2800 HP (avaiable at Townhall 9)
Level 5: 3200 HP (avaiable at Townhall 10)
So Each Dragon would last 10 seconds against its Counterpart Defense
Level 4 Defense vs Level 1 Dragon
Level 5 vs Level 2 Dragon
and so on
Lava Hounds would still be better than Dragons because of their better AI, and more HP per Housing space
Lavahound Level 3: 6700 HP 30 Housing space = > 223 HP per housing space => Great Air tank good AI
Dragon Level 5: 3200 HP 20 Housing Space => 160 HP => Good air Tank, ♥♥♥♥ AI but no DE
