Perfecting the GoWipe
I am toward the end of TH8, and my dragon attacks are becoming less effective, so I'm making that difficult transition back to ground attacks in war. Witches aren't available yet, so GoWipe is really my only option. My troops are: pekka lvl 3, golem lvl 1, bk lvl 9, wiz, arch, wallbreakers, heals, and rage lvl 5. I very rarely manage to get 3 stars with GoWipes, so I'm looking for some advice to polish it up.
Let's start from the beginning. I try to lure the cc to a corner using a giant and archers first. I've tried balloons as the primary lure in some cases, but they seem to die too fast. A couple hogs are another option, which takes less capacity but they don't stay alive as long as a giant. If there's stuff in the corners I'll use that to help draw them out using fewer troops, but this can be problematic if my units attack the buildings instead of the cc. Once I have the cc all together I surround with wizards, and usually lose a few in the process. I've seen videos where people will use their golems to tank for wizards and even skip the entire lure! I might try this next war. If there is stuff in the corners that might make me lose on time, I drop an archer at each location before going on.
So next is where to attack from. Ideally, I would want to attack from whatever direction I lured the cc to. That way no wizards are wasted. I also want to attack as close to the Lightning damage defenses as possible, so I can take them out as fast as possible, and hopefully get them to attack my golems and not my pekkas. Once the golems are dropped, I drop a few wizards off to the sides of where I want to attack from to take out buildings, which will direct the pekkas into the middle.
After that, we have the meat of the attack. This is where it gets tricky, because you have so much going on that it's easy to get confused and misplace a spell. I start by dropping my BK, then alternate between 2 wallbreakers and a pekka until I'm out. I do this to put some space between the wallbreakers so they don't all get wiped out by a single mortar hit. I use the BK rage ability first to help push my way into the center. When I get to the center, I drop another rage and the heal to quickly take down the TH and keep my guys alive which are at this point being pummeled by surrounding defenses.
Finally, we have clean up. I save my last rage spell for the largest group after the center is taken down. With any luck, my pekkas will be in that group. Lately I've been holding 3-4 wizards until the end of the battle to help me with clean up, because at this point, most of the wizards will be dead. This has worked out really well in some cases, but it sacrifices some of your fire power at the beginning. I'm not sure if this is really the best thing to do.
So there you have it! While I've meticulously planned out every detail of my attack, I still have difficulty getting that third star. Please share your tips and advice for perfecting this strategy.

You will always struggle getting 3* with standard gowipe, as it's designed to be a 2* strategy. The sole purpose of gowipe is to get into the core and take down the town hall. On anything near decent walls the attack basically dies there.
You can either play around with logo or hogowipe, using loons or hogs to backend the base, or you'd be better focusing on hog attacks at high th8.

i use gowipe to 2 star th9 when th9 fails to do

Luring CC troops or not depends on the location of opponent's CC and what's inside the CC (you should have some rough ideas, whether it's full wiz, wiz + archers, dragon + archers etc. How? From your other teammates' attacking replays).
If CC is centralised and need a lot of troops to lure (for example full archers), then you don't have to lure at all. Just launch full attack and make sure you deploy your wiz earlier after golems. The wiz will be "sucked' into the core due to attacking priority. Those archers will melt in no time.
If inside CC is dragon + some archers, it's worth to lure them using one or max two hogs. Dragon in the CC is a good news for every player since it's easy to lure and kill.
For me, I always prefer partial luring. Lure half of the archers out, kill them, launch full attack, and the remaining CC troops won't deal much damage to your golems, pekkas etc.
Not every base is suitable for GoWiPe. Rule of thumb is you would prefer less compartment bases (spread out or not doesn't matter). Bases with too many compartments will cause your Pekkas to stroll outside if there are walls blocking their path.
Also try to identify where are the teslas locations, and make sure you can direct your wiz and pekkas to kill those fast.
For me, GoWipe is a guarantee for two stars, and 70% of the time 3 stars is not a problem. I am talking about TH8 vs TH8 by the way.

I don't agree. I think at th8 GoWiPe is your best bet for 3 stars (that and hogs if you have level4).
Especially once you get level3 pekka and level 2 golems, it's almost not even fair. Even when facing a max th8, level 3 pekkas are just going to shred it.

Imo, L3 pekkas, while incredibly strong, tend to burn out against a max th8 base. However, I've found using L4 hogs at th8 ia a good way to get 3*!

Very much true, hogs is a much stronger attack at th8. Gowipe isn't designed to 3*. It CAN, but a max th8 base with skulls has to be a pretty poor layout to give up the 3rd star. Logowipe is much stronger, assuming the ad's are destroyed in the core.

..
send in the back end loons. aka Golowipe

I'm not a fan
Hi,
Honestly, im not a fan of GoWiPe. Because:
1. I suck at it
2. Max i star I can get is 2 star.
I prefer Lavaloonions (Quatro/penta)
