Quite simply, it's easier to defend your resources on their own than it is to defend your resources and your town hall. Its impossible to protect both sufficiently. Therefore, you can use more protection for your resources rather than using any to protect your town hall.

I agree with steve on everything except protection. I suggest farming only if you get raided so much that you just can't afford to build anything. There are some ways to protect both resources and TH just not as well as with 5 layers of walls. I suggest you try a new setup and if that does not work, by all means get your farm on.

The only way to protect both TH/trophies and resources equally well, is that you you don't protect either. I want to see a base that puts 4 or more containers AND Town Hall with at least 3 layers of wall (and enough defences to keep people out), which I consider minium safe amount of walls to keep people off my containers. If there was any benefit of protecting TH, I'd be sure to do it, but as is, there is absolutely no downsides of TH outside.

Th outside: Farming? Yes, please, a 1000 coin shield. Trophy hunting? Ahh, a break with only few trophies lost.

Opposite to that would be to have TH protected like crazy and everything else ignored, but that's only usefull if you gem resources. I believe that closing to 3k cups that change happens. The rest of us still have to pay for our armies with looting.

One other big plus on TH outside is, that you get to revenge a lot of people. Pick your target without tapping that expensive next-button.

So unless I completely misunderstood what you just wrote, I disagree with your sentiment :)

I sometimes put my TH just behind the first wall if I don't want a shield for whatever reason. That doesn't happen too often.

I tried to find com web but don't have a good answer yet.
What is the rule of revenge? Why some guys attack attack me without taking anything and I can revenge. While some attack taking a lot and I cannot revenge? I know those had been attacked by me can revenge me but it does not explain all cases. Do you haves complete info on how revenge work?

When you attack someone, they have the chance to revenge you.
when someone attacks you, you have the chance to revenge them.

you cannot revenge a revenge. So if you revenge someone, they can't revenge you. If someone revenges you, you can't revenge them. that's why there's sometimes a revenge button and sometimes there isn't.

Revenge button - someone found you through the search function and attacked you during their search
No revenge button - you attacked someone through the search function. However, they attacked you via the revenge button.

Actually it's a trick question if you read carefully the end says "if a wood chuck could chuck wood" implying that the woodchuck in question is incapable therefore the answer is 0 :)
