I've noticed that every time I want to go revenge someone that they are always either offline or they have an active shield. Quite frankly, this has removed this aspect of the game from me along with many other people. The huge Liam Neeson commercial shed much light on this revenge aspect of the game, however I believe it is highly underutilized.
My suggestion is to create more shield levels. A lower level shield would be a shield protecting your base from players in matchmaking. A higher level shield would be a shield protecting your base from players who could potentially revenge you.
These shield levels would be determined by the amount of damage your base undergoes. the higher the damage the more shield you get. As time elapses the weaker your shield gets.
This shield idea could be used to span other ideas as well. There could be more shield levels. A higher level shield protects against every kind of attack. As the shield level drops your base becomes more susceptible to stronger attacks.
I think this idea would be beneficial to increasing the revenge aspect to the game (because, quite frankly, I don't even attempt to revenge people anymore). I doubt that I am alone.
