Notifications will not stay disabled, driving me nuts

In android, to disable notifications for a particular app, you goto the application settings from within the android OS and untick the "Show Notifications" box.

That's it.

Until it updates! (Or something else I am unaware of)

It seems like every week or every other week I am stopping my work to check my phone (I am in IT) because my village is being attacked, or my shield is about to run out. What? But I disabled notifications for clash?

So I go back to app settings in android and sure enough, show notifications is once again checked.

How do I disable Clash notifications for good? I don't mind using a 3rd party app either.

Why can't we have the notifications setting as an in-app setting? This wouldn't happen if that was the case right? Because the settings would be saved in an online profile, instead of being overwritten when the app updates.

I hope Supercell are taking note of this because it is so annoying that I am considering removing the app. Just put an option in the in game menu to turn off notifications. I don't need to be woken up in the middle of the night, multiple times, to be told that an upgrade is complete or shield running out.
It has been suggested elsewhere that with the game installed on external SD the android setting for "show notifications" keeps resetting itself. I have no more room on my device storage so I can't move it back there as a fix. Please sort this in the next update. I will be writing a review on Play Store to the same effect and suggest others do likewise.

Awesome, I will try this out! Thanks for the input, I really hope they just add this as an in-app setting! It definitely wouldn't be the first time an app has notification settings dictated by the app rather than the OS.
