Yes! Completed and happy to achieve it! Thank to all the helpful advice in this forum and Captain III forum. Appreciate everyone!
Being well prepared for TTIII is a good thing. Like being well-prepared to run a marathon. In 2002, I ran my first marathon with the goal of qualifying to run the Boston Marathon. (I was pretty old and didn’t want to try multiple times.) I was well-prepared and I qualified for Boston on my first try. I got to run the Boston Marathon in 2003.
Yesterday, ten years later, on the day of the Bombed Boston Marathon, I tried TTIII. I was well-prepared. And I didn’t bomb it. And I got it on my first try. (My sincerest condolences to all affected by yesterday's Awful Event. My heart goes out to runners who had prepared so carefully for so long and then had their Big Day mangled that way.)
Back to TTIII, I was at Level 46. My barn was at 400 and my silo was at 425. While doing TTIII, I made 13,197 stars and 13,559 coins. To be fair, some of that came from proceeding to fill my boat once TTIII was accomplished.
I read the suggestions on this thread and followed most of them. I have a few suggestions to add.
- I saved up my diamonds until I had 30 --- 15 to hire Tom for one day and a backup 15 to hire him in an emergency for a single item during TTIII. On the day I hired Tom, I asked him to get all the jams but the shortest one. I focused on the jam requiring the shortest time. Likewise for the ice creams and juices. In the end, I did not have an emergency so I didn’t need to hire Tom again.
- I had one good surprise and one bad surprise with Tom. The good surprise is that I asked Tom to find diamond rings. I bought 8 diamond rings for 700 coins. It would have cost me 8 diamonds and a huge amount of time to create the precious bars needed to make them. Sure enough, during TTIII, I got an order for two diamond rings and I had them! The bad surprise is that I had planned to ask Tom to find me 4 Land Deeds that I needed for a farm expansion that would have then freed up 33 spaces in my barn. To my chagrin, Tom doesn’t buy Land Deeds. I don’t think he buys mallets or markers, either. And I don’t think he buys building materials. I had no choice but to compromise and buy the largest expansion for which I had all the items.
- I had a written inventory and a goal number for each item. (I can share the file if anyone is interested.) As others suggested, I overflowed machines, especially the dairy and sugar mill. I had 15 each of brown and white sugar and 4 syrups. I had 8 creams, 7 butters, 8 cheeses, and 5 fetas.
- Right before I began, I looked at what my friends had for sale. I wrote down who had what so I’d know exactly who to go to if I needed to buy something. I did not rely on the newspaper as the contents change too fast.
- For curiosity, before I began, I recorded my stars and coins so I could figure out how many I made during TTIII. I also recorded my starting time and had a timepiece nearby so I would have a sense of my progress. I also tried to tally truck orders as I filled them so I’d have a sense of whether I’d make it or not. I lost track a bit in the frenzy because I had about 25 tally marks when the big achievement banner appeared.
- A boat came while I was getting close to trying TTIII. I ignored it except that I took a look at the contents and made a mental note of them. In the end, I made about 33 truck orders, but then got one that would have used up stuff I needed for the boat, so I stopped there.
TTIII was satisfying! A lot of planning, preparing, and careful execution in the face of the time pressure paid off!

Just 5 truck to complete TT3

Level:36
I just finished. I put my info into a spreadsheet before and after because I was curious. I included what I had to start with, what I ended with, how much of each thing I used, and a comments section for if I had to buy something. I also included the total gold, xp, and diamonds that I had at the beginning and start.
Took me 13 minutes 57 seconds.

I use an app called Display Recorder but your iOS device must be jail broken and I use an iPad 4 which allows a fast recording rate. Apple will not give companies permission to offer apps that record the screen so you must Jailbreak your device and then purchase the app for $5 through the Cydia store.
Another alternative is to use a program called Reflector http://www.reflectorapp.com/ that will allow you to use Airplay to a computer instead of an Apple TV and it allows you to record. I have never used it though and it cost $15 but looks cool.
Another program like the one above is Air Player. http://www.airserver.com/ You can buy a single "commercial license" for $4 which is a cheaper alternative.
This page also explains a few other options.
