How does end of derby work?

After the derby ends, how long do we have to collect horseshoe gifts? This is our third one but the first one didn't work right and I think we messed up the second one.

If we aren't on when it ends, do we get to collect before starting next one?

And how does the prize for first three places get delivered?

From my own experience, you will get the popup when you next log into the game. Where I live, the derby starts at 1:00 in the morning, so tomorrow when I open the game, I get a message to pick my prizes for the checkpoints we reached, and then a message that we have bonus prizes for reaching the top 3 team. After that I can select a task for the new derby. By the time I open the game most others in my neighborhood have already taken tasks from the new derby.
