Some lavaloonion questions.

First things first, I absolutely suck at lavaloonion. I've yet to get a single star using it. But I keep trying and practicing in the hopes that it will become the op Juggernaut of all attacks like it has for others. I have scoured the forums and other places on the internet for guides, but I have some specific questions that I don't find the answers to. Just to clarify I am a th9 with max balloons, level 4 minions, and level 1 lava hounds.

First question is how should I deal with air skeletons. I just attacked a th10 a little bit ago (you may be wondering why I decided to attack a th10 and it was because he had garbage defenses, but he did have 2 infernos set to single, but I still thought I could take him. All of his ad were level 4) and after his infernos totally wrecked my lava hounds in no time at all, the air skeletons proceeded to annihilate all of the lava pups and then move on to the balloons which stood no chance. It was pretty wild to see just how quick they wrecked my troops. Any tips on how to deal with the threat of the air skellies?

Second, how to deal with cc troops. I see different thoughts on whether or not to lure, so I just do if I can. I see a lot of people saying that dropping a balloon right in front of the troops will cause it to die on all of them and blow them all up, and I've seen videos on it too, but when I try, it never works. I'll end up taking out 2-3 archers or maybe 1 wizard and that's it. Then, not wanting to waste another balloon, I use up almost all my minions to finish them off. And if its a dragon then the balloons obviously can't to anything to them so in that case should I just use all minions?

Third, should I even bother to go for anyone with single target infernos? This is more for futere references for when I'm a th10, as I don't usually go for th10s at my level, but the rest of this guys defenses were so low level that I thought I could handle it, but losing my lava hounds in 5 seconds ruined the rest of the attack. Should I just not even bother without freeze spells?

That's all of my more specific questions. My other ones I can get answered by looking at a guide. Thanks!

Firstly level up your hounds.

Secondly if you bring enough lava hounds(3-5) the skeleton traps and the infernos should be no problem. Just remember to drop your hounds a little bit after your loons as they travel faster.

Thirdly, to deal with the cc just use hogs for the lure. 2 witches backed up by a few wizards or even better a queen can take care of any troops present in the cc.

Thanks for the help. I have been saving up DE to upgrade hounds, so that will be happening hopefully soon. I use 3 hounds usually, so I may move up to four.

Are you farming with it or using it as a clan war attack aiming for 3 stars? Very different composition and attacking style there.

Air skellies are pretty annoying. In general dealing with air skellies or cc without lure, you are depending on the lava hound to tank everything and lava pups to clean up. Because lava pups' AI is "any target", they are often hitting some building while getting murdered by air skellies, so they don't deal well with air skellies unless the skellies are hitting loons or hounds. The best thing you can do is probably aim rage to cover as many pups as possible to help them.

CC you can either lightning or lure and balloon drop. When practising balloon drops, three main points:

a) bring 5 or so barbs/archers to drag the cc troops around and concentrate them. This takes a bit of time and practise. But don't bring too few, a screwed up cc kill will mess up your raid and distract you.
b) Make sure you clump them at a spot where the nearest defense is obvious. Don't bring them to a position which is roughly the same distance to two separate defenses. When you drop a loon, it will head for the nearest def, so you need to know for sure which direction it is heading.
c) Know how much damage is needed to kill your loon. 3+ wizards will kill your loon in one hit while 2 wiz will need 2, so you need to estimate the distance to drop your loon from the clump of cc troops.

If you use lavaloon as a clean-up attack in clan war, look for ccs weak to air such as 2 witches or 1 witch with loons or valks. For these bases you can safely use quad or penta lavaloon without bothering with cc lure or lightning. You can faceroll these bases with pentaloon and 4 rage.

Single infernos are in fact remarkably weak to lavaloonion. They may destroy lavas but by then raged loons are in the core and it is all over. The point of lavaloonion is to protect loons, not hounds, you want hounds to die. Multis are much tougher.

I farm with lavaloonion and single infernos are my favourite to hit.

Well for me personally:

Skelly traps aren't terribly hard to deal with, imo. I've never personally had an issue with them, a combination of pups and/or minions seems to take care of it. A potential mistake you may be making is dropping the minions too early or too late, in general you want them a few seconds behind the loons and the hounds, so that the minis don't deal with air bombs, and if you drop them too late they can't really keep up with the loons, and you get that problem.

For CC, I'll usually just drop my heroes :p. They rarely do anything but clean up anyway. Other times I'll do the balloon drop thing with a few minions, which takes practice to do well so don't give up on it yet.

Also, just in general, don't attack anyone with infernos that'll get in your way. Regardless of what they're set to, if they're on the outside of the base or upgrading you can generally ignore them and/or take them out. But in most cases, I'd just next by anyone with infernos. Single target infernos are the easier of the two to deal with, so if you're trying to push to high masters or champs I'd aim for those. Besides that no real reason to want to fight anyone with infernos.

Btw, what army composition are you using, and with what spells? I can't tell you anything further without that info.

First of all this is for war, not trophy pushing. Idk if that changes anything but I'm sure it does.

Secondly, I use 3 hounds, 15 minions, and the rest is loons, which is 20 I believe. I fill my cc with minions. I would use loons in my cc but no one in my clan has level 6 loons except me, and there is such a big difference in level 5 and 6 that I don't want level 5. So I just compensate with more loons in my camps and less minions. I have 30 cc space and 220 camp space.

There's nothing in there that's for war.......>.> If it was for war, I wouldn't have mentioned using loons to take out the CC as there'd be no reason not to use heroes.

Sorry, I'm a little confused. What do you mean there's nothing in there for war?

3 hounds is too little to 3 star TH9. You need 4 or 5 unless you are taking out an AD with ground troops first.

The second problem is you are not optimizing cc (because your clan mates do not have the right troops). Taking 15 min in cc is terrible, you should take relatively few minions if you are aiming to 3 star (because you need enough loons to kill all defenses), plus what you do take you want to deploy carefully, not all at the same spot.

U may have to take out 1 rage and add a jump spell, but this will depend on the base.

Step 1:

Attack from a side where u can take out the queen and an air defense. Drop ur Golem first, the wiz to clean up outside buildings. Then drop WBs, King, then queen. When ur opponents cc groups up, drop a lightning spell. If ur king is about to battle the cc troops, activate his ability immediately to use the barbarians he spawns.

Step 2:

Drop ur hounds 1 per air defense, and drop balloons in groups of 2-3. U should do this while ur heroes are taking out the cc, or else u will run out of time. Drop the rage spells on the 3 major groups of balloons (loons behind each lava hound) and wait till ur loons clear all defenses. By then, the pups should have spawned and be taking out buildings.

With this strategy u can three star th9s and some mid th10s. Try to attack bases with single infernos, because even tho they kill ur hounds fast, it's better overall for ur pups and loons. Remember, not all bases can be CB LaLoonioned. Air skellies don't really hurt ur raid too bad
