Leaders can change war status

Although I like the idea, this is a valid argument against there being a need for it. It is definitely true that they have am[ple chance and they should. And also its true that the leader if he is aware or has a desire can do it himself as he is starting the next war. So with those workarounds available this by itself is nothing more than a 'nice to have'.

But the reason I am supporting it is because if they added this ability it has things better positioned to go the next step to add in whats being proposed in the constant war mode idea WarrenJames has had here for a while. And important factor to his idea is the can has to have everything all set properly in the settings for the next war as the previous war draws to an end so if the leader has the ability to make the adjustments himself he can be sure the next war is who he wants in it.

This is really cool, the one drawback is that there will be no down time between wars for the leader to make adjustments so the leader has to have gotten everything in place for a given war while the previous one was still in progress.

Also - In my clan we have someone that had an accident and will not be on for a while yet. we are not looking to kick him for that nor would I want to bother him or his family with a detail like this. So I just quietly opt him out myself as I start each war. I would love to be able to just throw the switch myself and let him sit there until he is well enough to rejoin us again.

I still don't see why leaders need to have this ability. If you KNOW a clan member will be out for a week, tell them to change their war opt status (which FYI, two of my fellow co-leaders are gone for a week and I told them to opt out; they did.)

There is no need for a leader to have that much control over another person's account. Telling the person to change their war opt status works just fine.

No, it doesn't imply that everyone knows everyone. It implies that everyone is reasonably able to communicate with at least one co-leader (including ordinary chat if not real life), and every co-leader can communicated with the leader (eg clan mail).

It is not a question of "need" but helpfulness weighed against risk of abuse.

"tell them to change their war opt status" is great if they are proficient at the game. It fails for beginners, and it fails when people pass on information that they are out and don't have access to their device (quite common for children, wifi access, for example).

Most mature, well-organised, clans of experienced clashers will never have need of this requested feature, and it will cause them no harm, and others having it will similarly cause no harm.

In some clans, including mine, we have a number junior and casual players who are not so committed to the game, but do regularly play. Through the channels, I find out that so-and-so is away this weekend, so as declarer of war, I will not include them. Unfortunately, they didn't unset their opt-in setting, and so if I leave it to a co-leader to start a war, the co-leader may not so easily have my information, may decide who is in on the opt-in settings. This would be fixed my me being able to alter the players settings.

The clumsy fix would be for me to kick and re-invite. Don't want to go back to that.

I don't want my co-leaders to even have the option of changing other's settings because several of the co-s are good co-s, but would not be good leaders; because as leader I want to be in the loop of ad hoc absences and incorrect settings; because if anyone has a opt setting that has been altered, I want them to know that it could only have been them or me, the leader.

Yes. Not to overstate the problem, but leader-alterable opt setting would be nice to have.

Multiple times I have had this story with different details. Said we would be away next weekend, but didn't change the setting. Left a brief message saying his wife was sick, three weeks ago. Got banned from electronic games by his father (well, I kicked that one, he rejoined later).

My clan is a very casual one, where we don't want to kick members just for not changing war statuses.
We do farm wars on week days and real wars on weekends, but the ideal situation for dealing with this is after the weekend war, leader changes everyone's statuses to off, then only people who can/will attack in the weekend war turn it back on.
The only alternative at the moment is that it is left to people's own responsibility to change their status, and if they are fairly inactive , they won't have the chance to turn it off, but we only kick when they are away for a month or more.
