Question Regarding the Top Hay Day Farms

Hi all, I'm new to this forum and I've signed up to ask a question that I just can't find answers to anywhere on the internet.

My query regards the top farms in Hay Day. I'm talking about the level 250+ ones and the people who have 10,000+ barn and silo space and hold 2500+ planks etc in the screenshots on the Facebook page.

I've been playing Hay Day for a little over a year now and I play for maybe 1-2 hours per day (in 15 minute bursts), I've done wheating for months, fill almost every boat and constantly do truck deliveries and scour newspapers.

My boat score is a little over 5000. What I want to know is, how is it possible that some farms have boat scores in the millions (over 4 million is the current top). It just doesn't make any sense.

I've spent probably $100 Australian dollars ($80 USD) or so on diamonds across the time I've played, but that's just to get all my production buildings with the 9 slots so that I'm able to keep basically everything running 24 hours a day.

I also have a group of close friends who all trade rares so the ones that some find easier get moved around and we can all upgrade faster, so I think I'm playing the game 'correctly' and not being wasteful of any resources. (Not filling cream orders etc).

By my simple (possibly flawed?) calculations in my head, with 4000 diamonds costing nearly 100 dollars, even if you used diamonds for literally every process in the game including filling boats and all orders, it would be costing these people hundreds of thousands, if not, millions of dollars to achieve such high boat scores and barn / silo space.

Am I missing some vital part of the game? Or is that just a pretty good guess at what they are doing? I've heard of people spending $100,000 + on Diablo items and thousands on WoW accounts, but this just seems ridiculous.

My only other explanation would be to run some kind of bot net with tens of thousands of automated farms sending dairy and sugar and goods to the master farm or something?

I would love some real explanation on this from someone who actually knows. Possible one of the 'whales' themselves?

Some of those 2500 planks picture on FB could be fake or scams. I dont care those tbh.

As for the boat, if you ever follow those farms, you can see them calling boats early. They have million of followers, and each boat takes less than a minute to be filled. A boat is about 35 pts in average, and an hour can get them 2100 pts alone. The top farms during a boat event averages about 1k boats per day by the way. so thats 35k+ score a day.

I am in a top neighborhood, though I aint a diamond player. But there are players who do not care. In my hood, some friends spend 10 trunk of diamonds in a fishing event (speed up lures making and areas). And the same goes for boat.

For addicted, 1-2 hour playing isnt a lot. Since I started playing, I have been playing 10 hours+ a day probably. Constant wheating too, but still I havent reached 10k barn/silo. Still some way to go.

However, you can only have 4 of the 12 crates filled by followers, so how are they filling the other 8 crates if they are getting non stop boats? The maths just doesn't add up because they couldn't be manufacturing the goods for the other 8 crates fast enough could they?

For this they would need to be using diamonds to finish the manufacturing instantly and if they are filling enough boats to get 35k boat score per day, they would still need to be spending unbelievable amounts of money on diamonds.

Also, how did they get so many followers? Is it because they are on top so people just follow? Like just a lucky thing that they were there first or something?

Yes, there are plenty of people with extremely large disposable incomes.
Plus if they work in neighborhoods, the other people can just sell them the goods they need.
There are facebook groups for hayday and plenty of other forums besides the official one.

4 of the 9 or 12 crates, so only filling 5 or 8. Consider you always flag the difficult crates, its less difficult than you think. Besides, they get helped by neighborhoods as well as their satellite farms. I know several of the top 200 farms. Take one as an example, she has 5 farms (7 deviced i think, but 2 didnt play hay day). all 5 farms with permenant tom. so you know how many foods they can generate if only the top farm uses those foods.

like i said, they spend 10 trunks in a 4 day event. thats 1000 USD. This is nothing to them to be honest. And they earn a lot more than that too. so...

the key of getting followers is not being top at first, but to be the top 20 in any global event. even at #20, you will get about 5k-10k followers generally. and if you are consistently top, then you can start with a big load of followers. the top farm you mentioned didnt participate in fishing event, but he is on top 20 on every boat event.

Mainly they get the followers from being on boat or other event leaderboard as individuals, and being on boat board - and do so just by being there. You'd be surprised how many you get just from one appearance. Last year I placed 4th in global leaders for a fishing event and bam, 15,000 extra followers suddenly found me in a one week period right after the event (I had 175 before the event). Placed 12th another time, and bang, 8000 more followers. I've not been out on public display since Sept last year, and numbers slowly drop away, but as of today I still have 19048 people left following me. And I dont even sell anything interesting!

btw, while it is flattering to be followed, and no bush goes unwatered within 30 seconds, I hanker for the good ole days, where I could actually visit all my followers' farms, see if they needed help, to buy things from them, to sell things just for them by putting in rss with no ad and feel pleased that this or that particular one bought those cherries or berries... I had some sort of meaningful connection to them before, when the numbers were smaller, and that is what is missing now.

the other difference is most of these followers are low level farms (95% would be under level 30) where my previous small set of followers were far more likely to be nearer my own level.

haha yes. I was once on #17 in an event, and it took me weeks to delete all those lv 35 below followers. After deleting all the lower level ones, i only have 110 more than that of before-event. And yes, I prefer my old followers that i like to buy and help :p

The person on the top occasionally has his real name on his farm (as opposed to a thankyou note) and you can look him up on Google. If I recall correctly he's a rich businessman in Turkey who just enjoys spending money on diamonds and being at the top of the board.

I am very grateful for the players that do that. While I might never spend that kind of money on diamonds, the fact that they do helps subsidize our farms as well.

I can believe it took weeks to delete them, I don't have the heart for it, just too big a task to delete them one by one and I feel vaguely mean for doing it, even though I never asked for them or wanted them to follow me... They're mine now I guess, so I try to do right by the few I can actually find to help. But if there were a "delete anyone who never helped me or whom I never previously visited" button then I think I would hit it, yep.

First. Please don't beleive the "pictures" you see on facebook. Ever heard of photoshop? Also if you've seen someone with a barn more than 10,000 it is fake. 10,000 is the max size you can get.

Second. Do not for one minute beleive that those folks are having more fun than you are or that they are somehow doing something more "right" than you are. This game does not require you to buy diamonds to get ahead. Let me say that again. You DO NOT have to buy ANY diamonds to get ahead and have fun. My current farm is at level 91 and my barn just hit 3000. I started this farm 15 months ago. My old farm on my very slow Ipad2 is at level 86. I bought less than two dollars worth of diamonds on it and my kid still plays on it. It is nice to have two farms in the family because that farm gets more tape than I do and my poor NH is also Tape poor, but it is not required or even that much more helpful. So while there are farmers who dump lots of money into the game or who have five or more farms, trust me it is not necessary. Actually it is a pain in the neck working more than one farm, much less more than that. I usually just leave my old one to my kid who only plays when she has time to waste.

Last. You might be missing some things since you just now joined the forum. There are a lot of great things to be learned here that you might not learn by playing alone. For instance a forum member named Myso, discovered through a whole lot of testing and math that waking your pets in a certain order would get you two - four more tools than just using the whistle. Plus, Barn size becomes less of a problem once you learn how to stack your items outside your machines. Just this morning, my barn was full and I discovered that I had reached the maximum stacking limit on my sugar mill,my dairy and the popcorn machine. That means I have more than 150 items above my 3000 just sitting at those three machines. The other ones are pretty loaded too. Finally, there is a great thread that tells you where and how to get the rarer fish in order to fill up your fishing book and get those diamonds.

There's a lot to be learned here and loads of great people to help you farm and have fun doing it. Check out the stickies on the General forum and the new to hay day forum. The main guide sticky and the new people tips have all the above info and much much more. Take some time and look around. But don't let those top farms get you down. There is no winner in this game, and no action that can't be recoverd from.
