so why can't SC have an Easter update. They didn't have one last year and they have a winter/christmas update so why not have a couple of egg piles spawn on the lawn or have a 1 gem resourse boost speacial.

Easter affects less people than christmas does. Maybe something really small but otherwise they should work on something else
Easter is also a much more religious holiday for folks than Christmas. Lots of non Christians put up a tree, buy gifts, tell their kids about santa, etc...not too many non Christians celebrate Easter.
there a giant creepy bunny that hops around ;)
What is Easter?
That is most of my neighbours and friends' reaction If I talk about it.
Putting Easter is like putting Chinese New Year in the game. It's not global enough (same reason there's no thanksgiving). In fact, even Halloween is "Ghost Birthday Party" in my culture...
So I don't think we will get this kind of update.
Most people would want the boost special, as do I, Im a Christian, so add it SC!
I think they should add a hidden Easter Egg... They don't say its there... just put it in.
As the son of a Jew and a Catholic - turned atheist. I fully support an Easter holiday 1 gem boost special! And if they wanna throw in a couple bunnies, or let my Golems / Pekkas rise from the dead I fully support the idea of holiday boosts. Even if its not a holiday I celebrate.
Yes, it's something small, but hey, it gives us extra stuff and makes the game a tad more interesting. Maybe we could have an Easter Egg Hunt:D
From what i've read on this post people arent fully understanding the meaning of the 2 holidays. They are both christian holidays celebrating the life, death and resurrection. If you celebrate Christmas you should know the meaning and know that Easter was created from the events that started the Christmas holiday. So if there wouldnt be an event for Easter then there shouldnt be an event for Christmas as they are both pertaining solely towards the Christian religion. Just my thoughts
Christmas is widely celebrated and in many cases there is no religious significance. Easter is not.
All the more reason for them not to add Easter then. They should keep to the non religious holidays like Christmas and Halloween.
I think we should have seen a 1 gem boost event or something when their facebook page hit 10 mil likes.. i guess they don't like us that much :(
Christmas is now about reindeer, fat men in red suits, presents, trees, and fruitcake.
You may find that it has religious significance. Many people do not. Same with Halloween.
Now we're working on Easter being about eggs, bunnies, peeps, chocolate, and baskets but we're not quite there yet.
When the rest of the world catches up, perhaps SC will add it too.
Easter isn't that big of a holiday....I base updates off what television networks make holiday specials from that a lot of people actually watch...judge me.
The meaning of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of Jesus and to be thankful for all that he has done for us, the same goes for Easter. So celebrating one without the other is just ignorance with respect to the meaning of what you are even celebrating.
I never knew Halloween had religious significance?
It's not ignorance. It's me celebrating something else. Being an athiest, the birth of Jesus doesn't mean a whole lot to me. However, I do enjoy gift giving and the time off. Fruitcake sucks though.
Case in point. It did. However, for many it no longer does.
Yeah most or a majority. roughly 2.2 billion people in the world (31.50%) are christian which in all religions is a majority, celebrate the birth of Jesus.
I thought this was about COC though, not you trying to test peoples religion.
No clue why you are like this one here and dont deserve any of the respect you've gotten on the forums and you just troll and try to spark arguments. Dont care about your comments so you can respectfully keep them to your self.
That is, however, far from a majority of all people.
You're asking the questions. Don't do that if you don't want the answers.
Like what? I merely said that Christmas is a lot more widely celebrated by non religious folk than Easter. Then you decided to grill me on it. Don't be mad at me because I'm right and you're wrong.
April 25th is Anzac Day in Australia and New Zealand which is a celebration of all of the Australians and New Zealandrers who served and died in wars.
I think, to commemorate this prison island of misfits' holiday, Supercell should make it impossible to raid if you fly a flag from either of said countries, and any clan claiming that nationality, no wars for the Month of April.
HAPPY ANZAC DAY!
Easter is a religious holiday. Not everybody celebrates it. And don't say that Christmas is a religious holiday, because that isn't a valid argument. We had a winter 2014 update. Not xmas. The only link to Christmas was the trees, and having trees like that comes from ancient pagan traditions. And to whoever said that Easter isn't as important as Christmas, you are quite wrong. To those that celebrate both, easter is by far a more religiously important holiday. Christmas is just more popular 'cause presents
Halloween is based off of the eve of all saints day. Halloween is techincally all souls day so you dress up to "mock" evil spirts. It was around back in Bible times.
Christmas and Easter are celebrated about the same amount, at least among all of my extended family and my friends. Christmas is just more enjoyable for little kids, so it gets more people in the "Christmas Cheer". But on topic about the thread, I think that enough people celebrate Easter, and nobody can really complain about it because nobody complains about the Christmas update... And who doesn't love a 1 gem boost! XD
I would like to see an easter special (and I could have sworn they did something about the time last year - but probably didn't advertise it as a an easter special) - the fact is both Halloween and Christmas largely had pagan origins which I think has merit with the nature of the game.
Easter on the other hand does not - it is a christian practice (although obviously others aren't going to have an objection of stuffing their faces with chocolate) Muslims another large religion do not celebrate it as it is one of the fundamental differences between the two religions yes they believed there was a prophet called Jesus but they do not believe he died on the cross. Therefore to avoid a political/religious debacle I think the advertisement of such an event should be avoided. Not saying they can't do something else instead like 'It's spring hollidays.' or 'it's harvest time, time to farm!'
Why don't we just have a Spring Event, unrelated to any religion?
Very euro-centric indeed (or christianity-centric, whatever you want to call it). Thats like saying "If we didn't have Taoism we wouldn't have Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival and Lantern Festivial, the three most popular holidays. We basically would have no holidays"
In my country, December 25th is Karen New Year- the New Year for an ethnic minority with whom we are having somewhat of a civil war. Some calendars say it is Christmas, others say it is Karen New Year. So even Christmas is seen as a very religious event here.
Side note: since I have been exposed to a lot of Western culture, I understand these holidays a lot more than most non-Christians in my neighbourhood. The other day, I remember that my neighbor was suprised when I told him the history of Santa Claus because he thought Santa Claus was some sort of Christian angel/god/spirit. I realised just how isolated my country had been for the past few decades.
Easter is pretty much unknown to most people here. The thought of a giant rabbit giving eggs in a basket is just sooo confusing to the non-Christians here. I actually didnt know that Easter had something to do with the resurrection of Jesus until I read this thread. I thought it was another wierd Western holiday like Halloween or Valentine's Day.
I think that OP wants an event in the top half of the year instead of having two holidays back-to-back (kind of) near the end. A Spring Event would be very confusing and would be question what it is. Thus, this doesn't really work. If we can find a holiday that is global and isn't so religious, we might be able to get it in.
Not everyone is Christian though. I know the majority in the world is Christian but in my country, the main religion is Hinduism. The neighboring ones are Muslim and Buddhist.
What was Halloween based on again?
Not everyone is Aussie/NZer. People from outside countries would be angry (like the people who have all the flags, and 24/7 war Aussie/NZ clans).
Proably not. Santa Claus was a folk legend from Scandinavia that got mixed in with Christmas throughout the ages, so many the Easter bunny went though the same thing. I remember my High school Human Geography teacher saying that Easter included elements of a Spring festival (with bunnies and eggs) of some pagan culture in Europe.
The ancient Celtic belief that on Hallowe'en the Otherworld is free to roam the Earth. Thus, we should stay in the house and carve scary faces in radishes to scare them away. (candy part, I don't know)
Man, sarcasm does not go well on the Forums. I think maybe (if I remember) what I was trying to do was suggest that not everyone in the world celebrates all holidays so no matter what "holiday theme" someone picks, it is going to be something that at least a portion of the community does not care about and/or celebrate.
I definitely thought that my idea of banning anyone from Australia and New Zealand from attacking for a month was obvious enough, but apparently not...
