One Idea I had that could add a new dimension to the game is defensive spells.
It would be a new spell factory. Perhaps Dark Spell factory. Or a new resource altogether.
Sample Ideas.
Level 1 - Absorption
Cast Absorption over a part of your base. (Would have same radius as Heal or Rage spell). Absorption would absorb X amount of damage. It would scale incrementally similar to the lightning or heal spell. You would cast it over a predetermined portion of your base. If any part of the base within the radius begins to come under a fire an absorption shield would absorb the damage.
Level 2 - Rage
Cast over part of base. When enemy troops enter the trigger radius. The spell would set off enraging defenses for a brief period of time. It would scale similar to the freeze spell. The higher the level an extra second the rage could last.
Level 3 - Retribution
Cast on a particular building or structure. Any damage the structure receives is then dealt as a splash damage once the structure is destroyed. For example at level 1 of retribution. You cast Retribution on a particular cannon. The cannon has 700 health. Level 1 retribution will take 10% of of the health of the cannon and deal splash damage to near-by troops.
Upgrading the spell to level 2 could be either 15% health or multiple structures.
Level 4 - Webbing / Roots
Cast over a particular area and a spider-web type substance entangles your troops for X amount of time.
Upgrading this spell would either increase the radius or amount of time troops are entangled. (Could potentially still attack while entangled. For example an archer that is entangled within shooting range of a building could still fire. A barbarian or giant entangled not in range of a building could not).
Level 5 - Icy Tundra
Cast over a particular area. When triggered the tundra turns icy reducing movement and attack speed by x% for x seconds.

These are just rough ideas of what could potentially be used. A lot of balancing would need to be done, and Icy Tundra could be at level 1 instead of level 5. I am completely open to other defensive spell ideas and will add them to potential list if they are good ideas. I will try and revise this at a later date once when I figure out what is popular what is not.
Please post constructive feedback and suggestions instead of mindlessly trolling calling the idea stupid. I don't care if you don't like the idea, tell me why you don't like and what you think could be done to make it better.
If you feel that this would provide too much power to defense then explain why, and what could be done to balance it.
