Needed Forum Improvements

My post is linked to my signature, and I post often (14-16 posts a day based on my profile)

So it really isn't hard to find my Newbie Catch idea. Searching for 'Newbie Catch' does a great job at showing my talks about this idea, which is a rare thing given how basic the search function is, and how hard it is to play 'guess the keywords'.

I've already went through this talk several times, and would rather people research what has been said. :straightface: Just is tiresome to repeat, and can only do it so many times before burnout.

Added Edit: Also, I'm not calling it 'best' (so far) because it is my ides. I just haven't seen anything better. But it isn't a simple idea. Much of the hard work is writing a good interactive intro page. The rest of it, the technical aspects is easy, but writing a narrative to hold a newbies attention (a teenage newbie) will be hard :( But if done right, will be more than well worth it. And the intro setup can be used in other forums needing newbie grabbing and teaching pages.

These forums make me want to poke my eyes out. Every time I visit the ideas sub forum there is at least 1 topic about about donating resources, or free gems, or multiple builders, etc, you know how it is.

My answer to OP is right there in my posts. I've only known about and worked on the issue off and on for months now. And I can't bring myself to explain, yet, why thier post count limit idea won't work.

Because of how untrue it is. Obviously you either haven't been here very long, or haven't paid attention to what happens here.

How is that untrue? Havent you seen good threads recieve a lot of support? Like the petition to make heroes usable in wars? Or mastermind's daily/weekly/monthly quest idea? Those recieved lots of support, hundreds to thousands of posts supporting them, and they were occasionally bumped up because they were good threads that people liked. However rules out threads die out after 2 hours since someone says its ruled out and there is no further discussion needed. Obviously you haven't been on this forum enough to see this.

I likely amaze people with my patience with newbies, but yeah, the flood of threads on the same ideas is maddening. I've been able to tune out the annoyance, but apathy (from dysthymia) has been slowing down my ruled out thread reporting. :( But I did manage to get others to report as well. Need to stress not to use 'report' since that gives a bad feeling to people. 'Flagged' is what I use, since 'report' gives a feeling of punishment, which unless they repeat the same thing after deletion, yes, they will be.

You can't troll with the forum's report feature. It pages Mods directly, and they read the message you give. Anyone trying to troll will get band themselves :cool:

You are telling me, with my post count, and my average post length, and my work on this spam problem, and created a good idea thread for every 2-3 posts you have ever made since you have been here, that I don't see good idea threads die in the flood of spam?

You post at the wrong time, and your thread, Regardless of how awesome it is, is on page 3 before the morning comes, and on page 5-7 later on, and it might as well be on page 300 at that point. I've seen ideas here that get flooded off here and put in the game. You just have a very narrow and selective idea what a 'good thread' is, and I'm sorry that you are that narrow minded. But if you ask any other regular forum goer here, they will say the same thing.

Note: 95%-99% of my posts are all in this subforum. Would be kind of hard to not know how things work here.

I have a messed up sleep schedule, so I kind of see the pattern in the flood. There are times where thing on page 1 has a posts no older than 30-45 minutes. I then post on some of the good ones to keep them up, but can only do so much, since we aren't allowed to bump and double post.

My thread made it a whole 50 minutes on the front page haha. 12 out of the 20 posts that bumped my thread to the next page are ruled out ideas. Worlds bets forums ever, amirite?

Yeah... Well, it is active, and full of new people wanting to add ideas. Just wish it wasn't so many already thought up ideas.

Checked out my thread? It could use a bump. It even explains why the post count limit won't work, among several other topics.
