So I just came across the most obnoxious pair of players deriding the concept of rushing. I tried to have a lively debate and explained to them the difference between being a preemie and an educated rusher. They responded by using the most childish insults in the book. I just gave up trying to talk to them and returned to my own business.
My question to all of you is, why do so many people hate rushers, even if the rusher knows exactly what they are doing?
I don't think they understand why people rush. To a lot of people rushed and premmie are the same thing. Being a premmie is always bad but I agree with you that educated rushing can pay off in the long run.
In our clan we despise rushers because it ends up hurting our clan as a whole.
I can get into the whole clan war and where a rushed base sits in clan war XP.
In our experience a rushed TH simply means that the particular player will have much more trouble upgrading the rest of his base. Heading straight to a TH 10 and not working on your defenses can be very difficult to make progress.
This forum is full of examples of the TH farming penalties as well as the rewards for hitting a base larger than yours.
We prefer people who have maxed 90-100% of base before moving up. This will help keep the lag off of the transition from one TH lvl to the next.

People despise rushing because there is a negative stigma towards them, just like gemmers. However, if people actually knew what they were talking about they would realize there are different types of rushers and also a drastic difference between the two.
A smart rusher prioritizes offense (camps, primary war/farm troops, spell factory, CC, etc) and a premie (i.e. person who has no clue) just upgrades their TH/randomly upgrades typically neglecting both offense and defense.
The smart rusher will also focus on key defenses (AD's/teslas/Infernos for war, or splash buildings for farming).
It's quite easy to distinguish between the two. One has the offense, the other is just ♥♥♥♥ all around.
Now, is it beneficial to rush? In some cases yes, or depending on your personal goals/ clan needs. However, in general I'd say it's better not to. You want well upgraded bases with a balance of both.
Then again pretty much all 10's are inevitably 2 starred anyway (maxed or otherwise), and if you have a weaker rushed 10 with a max offense that can also 2 star max 10's....well to each their own.
Personally though I always maxed my TH's. I never felt the need to rush.
Bottom line, some people just want infernos and max troops asap so they rush. Others want a completely maxed base and therefore find it more beneficial to optimize loot and max out their each respective TH's. Neither is inherently the right or wrong way, just depends on what your goals for the game are.
Im a rusher, and I know how it feels like. Many people hate on me, saying tht I am weak. Originally I felt depressed but now I am glad I rushed, as it gives me an advantage on offense. I think the only thing a rusher needs to know is that he needs to farm hard at Th10, like I am now. :)

I have no idea why there is so much hate for a very valid strategy.
In 8 months of play, a maxer would be early TH9 or maxed TH8. A properly played rusher would be a TH9 with lvl 15 heroes and maxed legos at the same time, albeit point defenses 1-2 levels lower.

The problem is that many types of incompletely maxed bases are lumped together. Getting things right is a rare skill, even though it's not hard. As long as archers are within one upgrade of maxed, the TH can likely recover/rush well.
Consider the following items to upgrade as a TH upgrades listed below roughly as an optimizer that rushes would do them. Some items cross over as the CW troop upgrades happen while resource collectors are being upgraded.
- Elixir Buildings
- Farming Troops
- Economy Upgrades
- CW Troops (if CW at this TH)
- Attacking Skill (if CW at this TH)
- TH Level
- Defenses
The CW enthusiast might delay farming troops for CW troops and sometimes puts too much weight on Defenses. There is plenty of solid advice being put out that defenses should be last, so CW enthusiasts generally get it right.
The maxer deprioritizes TH Level and prioritizes Defenses more.
The "bad" rusher tries to do CW without commensurate CW troops/Attacking skill and/or upgrades TH just to get upgraded defenses while neglecting Farming Troops.
The problem for rush optimizers is that people's evaluation tree checks for max defenses as a quick and easy filter to evaluate progression/knowledge. Attacking skill and troop availability/level is much more important, but it's hard to evaluate sight unseen. If I had to write a simple check, it'd be "Does the TH have max spell factory/camps/archers/balloons and all troops/dark troops unlocked?".
Rushing per se is not bad if you know what you are getting into however I am against people saying its the best thing ever without providing warnings on what would happen if you rush incorrectly.
