Thanks! I'm glad you still like it :)
Thanks :)
Thanks, again...:smirk:
Ok, I will decrease the housing space from 14 back to its original space of 12.
Thanks, again...again :smirk:
No problem!
Vince this idea is looking very well done. This troop is getting so much support from everyone, looks like we have a new troop for Clash of Clans. Have ya' gotten any news from Supercell about your idea yet? Because I can't wait to see this troop in action some day. This troop would be a great addition to the game, it fits the theme perfectly, and seems very unique now that certain changes have been made. This just seems like a troop that would be in Clash of Clans.
Gonna revive this thread. What is it doing with these lowly Page 2 Threads?
Back to the top we go!
With the Volcano Spell, this could deal tons of damage...
The Volcano Mage seems like a really awesome idea other than it looking so close to the wizards. In my opinion it wouldn't feel like a new unit, just an update to the original wizards. If it was something else with a new concept I think it would fit better. Other than that it is a cool idea just needs a little bit of updating:)
This is a very popular thread, not a bad idea either, just needs a name change
Thanks. How is it not different? It has its own special ability and nothing is the same besides the concept art. You do realize that's just a rough sketch right? Thanks, but I feel like you didn't read the thread.
I think he means the inferno spell. And yes, I agree, the two ideas were meant to go very well together.
Thanks. Man, I wish someone would read at least some of the previous comments though, :smirk:
I think he was talking about my Inferno Spell.
Your idea is great but I actually would appreciate it if you could send me the graphics of a serpent and a dark barracks 8 which represents snakes.
Must revive. Down in page two? C'mon now.
Although i I do love this troop and can't wait to see it in the game, at this point it doesn't need to be up here anymore.
SC is well aware of this troop and either working on it already or has already dismissed it.
Let new ideas get a little bit of show time on the front page
Edit: That is unless you actually have something to say
Hey Anthony!! I have a tons of ideas! But I dont have a partner to work with me! So. May be we can work together (1brain is smart but 2 brains are ×2 smarter). What do you say!?
Thats Pretty cool+Unique like some of my ideas.
What is PM and VM!?
I love this idea! I also have some ideas for some troops and spells and I found some good ones on the forums that were pretty interesting like the anti splash damage spell and the cold finger defense but this is one of the best ideas I've seen on the forums! Great Job!
Anthony I know this is dumb but rate your own thread and rate it five stars. It's ridiculous that it's rated four stars still. Everyone vote!
Thanks :)
Explanation is below :smirk:
I know, it would be so cool if I were the creator of the most popular forum troop and spell idea...:p
I did a while back after it was rated four stars. The first two months it had 5 stars, but eventually the haters came I guess. :p Yes, it would be great if this thread was returned back to a 5-star rating!
This is good and should be easy for them to program. But they'd change it way too much info.
I LOVE THIS TROOP! Just needs a name change (Supercell ruled out mages) and make it so that inferno spells (you know what they are) Give them 1.5x the hp.
Sounds like a good idea, but I am not a fan of the name.
Cool idea, though!!!
Nice idea! Obviously put lots of thought into it. Maybe just put it between witches and lava hound or between golem and witch. Didn't think it would be a troop that should be more expensive than lava hounds
Thanks, you're saying my thread is too detailed? That's what usually makes Supercell want to read it, knowing you put a lot of time into it :smirk:
Thanks yous so much! :smirk: I don't want to add any relationship with the Inferno Spell yet though because neither are in game :smirk:
Thank you! As I have said before, the name is just the current name, it can be changed at any time.
Thanks! To my knowledge, this troop costs less than a Lava Hound
so why does this get so many comments that are good and my inferno archer gets all bad ones?
Nice idea of a new dark troop, I see you put a lot of effort into making this thread a complete one, and also nice images :) I don't really have any comments to make about it, it looks really good and the stats are well thought. Just a question I have, when you say it can hit 4 buildings at once, and it has a 45dmg/attack at max level, does it mean each of the buildings will get 11.25dmg? Or each gets a 45?
Well, probably because the inferno archer is bad. That just tends to be what negative comments mean.
However, I've seen plenty of good ideas shut down because they weren't about what was posted. Please, keep your question about your inferno archer on your inferno archer page. I don't want this to join the "Shut Down Thread" club.
I would say because people seem to like this idea :smirk:
Thanks yous very much. No, each building will get 45. Thinking back, I will probably decrease the damage, I totally forgot he can affect 4 buildings at once. :smirk:
Yes, please keep this thread on topic ;)
Here's what's new!
*Fixes in the "Army compositions" section to make it more understandable
*Damage greatly decreased at all levels! But remember, the Mage affects four buildings at a time so his DPS maybe 25, but he's causing up to 100 damage per second on his own!
*New trivia/FAQ about that ^^^
*Five new defensive strategies! Completely new ways to set up your base that are more descriptive than the two old ones!
Hmm looked through the whole thread again, and looked at the time it took to make this troop. Would anyone want to wait (20 minutes) for a troop that takes up 12 spaces, does little DPS, and acts more like a supportive troop by weakening other structures for the rest of the army? Maybe we could lower that a little, perhaps? I'll let you decide.
Question: In your thread it says;"The Volcano Mage's lava only effects ground units" Did you mean it can only support ground troops?Ex: VM weakens a structure, causing ground units to deal more damage, except air units. Or that it cannot attack air units in general?
Had me confused, I suggest cleaning that little part up for all the new people that read your idea. Anyhow, everything else is looking good.
I might have missed something but does the mage boost the other mages attacks? So if 3 mages attack a building they would do 75 damage per second each on 4 buildings and they affect other troops too. Is there a max amount of troops the can affect at once. It sounds like an awesome idea, I'd love to see it implemented. Maybe it could take 11 or 10 spaces because other troops don't as well as being able to fit 3 in a cc.Quote:

Stacking defense allows them to burn down golems quickly which would be needed for this.
Maybe remove or reduce the spread. If you are going to allow a damage stack than reduce the % significantly. At 100% damage boost wizards would be two shotting everything.
Finally, and this has been mentioned before, please change the name. Honestly volcano mage is absurd and it looks identical to the wizard. Maybe adjust that as well.
Overall I like the concept but without some tweaks and in some areas overhauls I don't see this being implemented anytime soon.
Thanks! No, the Volcano Mages' damage boost can stack, but the damage boost will not affect other Volcano Mages. Also, the Volcano Mage can take down as many troops as possible in one shot, as long as they are packed together because of his 0.3 tile radius splash damage.
I have lowered the housing space to 11 :)
Okay, I have reduced the spread to two buildings at once, but he can still target multiple units if they are packed together.
For your third part, hundreds of people have already said they don't like the name Volcano Mage! Maybe I would consider it if people actually suggested a new name instead of complaining about the one there is. :smirk: Plus, I can't change the thread name, and Supercell can change the name of the troop if they want/choose to implement it.
And for the artwork, this is just a rough sketch! I'm not even the one who made the artwork, so I didn't know how it was going to look like prior. If anyone can make a drawing of this troop that is better, be my guest. But again, out of all 770 comments on this thread, I'm getting tired with the constant complaining of the name and the picture, and not really focusing on the idea itself.
Sorry about that Aluxtu, but I just took this as a chance to tell people to turn their criticism into CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. :smirk: Rant over. Deep breath.
But it's too much like a wizard
Only supports and weakens structures to Help ground troops only? Or cannot target air troops? wasn't completely specified in your reply.
And if the VM doesn't help air units, such as the minion deal more damage, then it sounds sketchy. Why wouldn't air units deal more damage to the weakened structure? Perhaps you should have the VM support both ground and air units, but also have it unnable to target air units.
:l
Why not just call it a pyromancer since that is essentially what it seems to be. Considering the first things you see are the name and the picture they will most likely receive the most feedback. I think the overall concept is interesting but I would need to see this unit in action to say for sure. 3 of these guys and a wizard following in the wake of a king and/or queen would pretty much burn everything down instantly in my mind but maybe not.
Wow... I've quit the forums for a short amount of months, and the progress in this thread has really shot up. Congratulations Anthony, fantastic work!
I'm not going to say anything anymore.
Yes, it only weakens structures to ground units...but I guess I will make it ground and air, although it would be kind of hard getting the Volcano Mage to support your units with an air raid, it would only be useful with maybe Minions.
Well, I'm not changing the name right now. So :smirk:
Thanks! Haven't seen you around in a while, glad you still support it :)
To be honest, the Volcano Mage does sound like a really great idea, but if it were to be worth that much dark elixir I personally think it should have a lot more damage per second. It also has a lot of look similarities to the wizard, so try to change up the look a but.
I can't change the picture because I didn't make it. :smirk:
Here's what's new!
*Hitpoints decreased slightly across all levels
*Range decreased slightly to 3.5 tiles
*The Volcano Mage can now only target and affect two buildings at once
*Training time greatly decreased to 10 minutes
*Housing space decreased to 11
*Damage slightly increased at level 2 and greatly increased at level 3
*Damage boost slightly increased
*Training time greatly decreased across all levels
*Added image for my newer Inferno Spell at the bottom as a preview, as well as adding an image of the Volcano Mage on that post
Yes, it only weakens structures to ground units...but I guess I will make it ground and air, although it would be kind of hard getting the Volcano Mage to support your units with an air raid, it would only be useful with maybe Minions.
Minions are widely used Vince, I use them quite a lot. With a Horde of Barbarians and Minions, the VM could play a huge part. Of course we'll need wallbreakers and tank troops for the VM but think about how beneficial this troop could be. Might be better to have this troop support both ground and air, because all air units attack structures on the ground. Let's just do it. :/
People that always use minions and/or balloons won't use this troop at all if it can't work for them. Plenty of people mix ground and air attacks in, this troop could be in a strategy like that, ya know? There is absolutely no need to worry, because anyone can fix up an interesting, unique, and never before seen troop composition before and make it work.
The attack at Levels 1 and 2 need a buff, Level 3 is fine.
Level 1 to 15, Level 2 to 25
I've listened guys :)
Here's what's new!
*Damage boost increased across all levels
*Training time, training cost, and housing space increased
*Hitpoints increased across all levels
*The Volcano Mage now gives an initial damage boost to nearby units when it is first deployed; half the damage boost it gives to buildings, but lasts the entire raid
*Damage increased at levels 1 and 2
*Movement speed=17
Really good idea! Nice job :)
Thanks for suggesting, but that's an odd movement speed and is only 1 smaller than his current speed. Mind explaining why?
Thanks :)
Thanks, I guess  Not really sure what you're saying :smirk:
Here's what's new!
*Description fixed
*Damage boost increased across all levels, thus also increasing the initial damage boost
*Confirmed that the initial damage boost and the regular building weakening effects do in fact stack
*Hitpoints decreased across all levels
*Training cost raised across all levels
*Training time increased to 15 minutes
*Added strategies with my Inferno Spell and Smasher's Knight and Drought Spell
Hmmmm. Now I'm not sure about the ' permanent damage boost' this troop gives when other units are placed near the VM. Probably better to give this ' Damage boost a radius of some sort. Even if the damage boost is miniscule, many troops with the permanent damage boost could cause a lot of destruction. You already know what I'm going to say after that.
I suggest maybe getting rid of the damage boost, and just stick to the statistic where the VM hits a structure and weaken it for other units.
I added this feature so it would be able to support units that would likely be separated from him.
The Volcano Mage is fairly balanced right now, as he has low damage and very low hitpoints as well as a moderately high training cost and housing space. Just think of this unit against all the Town Hall 10 defenses. And yes, Supercell always adds a defense level or something when they add a new troop, so don't expect this troop to be super overpowering.
But it again Town Hall 10 deserves a really cool troop since it's the last Town Hall so far. This initial damage boost was actually added to make it more balanced. So sorry, I don't plan on changing/removing this new feature anytime soon. :)
I think its great and unique, but in the last strategy, what is a knight?
This would be my dream troop to tell you the truth I've been thinking about a troop like this for awhile just didn't have time to work out all the details. The only thing I think could make this any better would be to make it a hero instead of just another troop having it spawn wizards would be amazing
Oh, that would be the popular Knight troop by TheOneTheyCallSmasher. Click the link and you can view it :o
Erm...thanks, but I prefer not to have it a hero and making it spawn wizards and making it...completely different than it is right now :smirk:
Heh, yeah that's the link to the Knight troop, Spider Pig.
I like the overall look of the troop (evil wizzy) along with the attack strategies it would enable! Being able to manipulate and include it in ground and air attacks would definitely be a positive game-changer. I also like how it's compatible with the haste spell making it a special ability.. I would like to know would it be efficient to use in all air attacks? Perhaps to allow lava pups to take out the AQ faster in PentaLava attacks? :)
It's another member of the forum, just like you :smirk:
Thank you! Yes, this troop would be efficient with air attacks as well but it would only work if either he gives his initial damage boost to Balloons or Lava Hounds, and with the Mage being a ground troop, if you want him to last the whole raid with an air army I would support him with Golems or Heroes (thus encouraging more people to use a hybrid attack!)
Thanks! It might seem OP, but remember that this troop is unlocked at Town Hall 10 and just imagine all the Teslas, X-Bows, and Inferno Towers firing upon your army.
It came from an old troop suggestion called the Alchemist. What he did was make structures take more damage and do a "burning" damage himself (say, causes 15 damage per second even when he's not attacking it)
I liked the idea so I used the make structures take more damage part, but I changed around and added some stuff: the concept of the troop itself, all of these details and images, the different strategies, and of course added the ability with the initial damage boost the Volcano Mage causes. :)
Does his boost when he spawns affect air troops?
Still the best!!!
And I got rid of Illuminati:smirk:
Maybe you've heard this before, and maybe it's not the best idea. But I like the sound of "Inferno Mage" volcano and inferno both deal with flame, and as inferno towers are a th10 powerful defense, it makes sense to me to name a powerful th10 troop an inferno Mage. Not my troop but wanted to put my two cents in. Great job coming up with this and managing the press that comes from it so well!
I honestly like the name the way it is now. That's typically how I want to refer to this troop.
Thanks, but if you want to bump this thread I prefer you make an actual contribution like asking questions, making suggestions, tweaking stats, as I don't want this thread to be closed from bumping by OTHER people.
Doing these things will both bring my idea to the top if you like, and give me a chance to respond so people can understand this idea better. Maybe you can even suggest some strategies to use this with :o
WIZARD they have mostly every thing in common they have the outfit the pose they have the same ability they both shot fire but after all its a good idea:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
How big is the 'Small damage boost' when units are placed near the Volcano Mage? Couldn't find that anywhere.
xD look at this...
VM has made it to Google Images!!!
https://www.google.com/search?q=volc...w=1024&bih=677
Anyways, I think the damage boost should be slightly nerfed and the attack slightly buffed
My idea:
Level 1: 80 percent
Level 2: 100 percent
Level 3: 120 percent
DPS:
Level 1: 20
Level 2: 25
Level 3: 30
Thanks, I agree :)
Um, I'm going to let Jim Bob explain this because I was going to go off on a big long paragraph about this :smirk:
Exactly. You handled this much better than I would have :)
Equal to half of the Volcano Mage's damage boost. (130% damage boost, 65% small damage boost)
Cool :smirk: And I will think about this, but remember that I want to have level 3 to have a big jump and stats and make this troop less reliant on damage and more reliant on damage INCREASING. But I will take this into consideration, thanks :)
And nice, 800 replies and 50,000 views! Finally, this is IMPORTANT:
Give it a staff and its good to go.
The damage boost to troops is way to over powered. I could drop one of these guys off in a corner followed by hogs around him to grab the boost. I wouldn't even need to send a lot. I could do bursts of 5-6 to avoid a group getting killed by bombs. Can you imagine a hog that gains a 65% boost to its already high damage? Additionally this raises the question of how it impacts defense when in a clan castle? I was a little unclear but does it also boost your defense as it runs outside permanently? It seems like this guy is taking on a game changing/breaking set of abilities. You're stacking all sorts of damage boosts on him. I would stick with just the boost on his targeted buildings, otherwise I don't see it ever being introduced to the game.
I agree, the permanent damage boost when troops are deployed next to the VM needs to go, but he said 'small damage boost,' so perhaps we haven't anything to worry about?
I think we should have the VM just weaken buildings for other troops, giving this small damage boost may be a little too much.
Cool troop
This is a very nice idea, and a great thread as well!
Quick question, what happens when the volcano Mage dies/goes out of range of the troops it gives a damage boost to? The troops still get the damage boost right?
And can he boost the damage of air troops?
Good idea, I like it. Would be hard to change the art now though but I'll try :)
Main brain? Try ONLY brain. Well, at least my troop is so popular it's spreading to other places! :smirk:
I'm going to answer this with a simple sentence: That's the only way I thought of to make the Volcano Mage useful and allow him to support all troops.
And no, on defense, he does not boost defenses he boosts defending Clan Castle troops.
In my opinion, the VM was too weak to be a town hall 10 troop when he only had that ability.
Thanks :)
Well, the VM targets buildings so to take advantage of that damage boost, troops (yes it also includes air) must be attacking that same building unless they already have the small damage boost.
There's two things: the damage boost upon deployment (aka small damage boost) and the regular boost the VM gives when attacking a building.
Small damage boost: equal to half of the VM's normal damage boost. Any nearby unit when the VM is first deployed will gain this small boost and it will last for the entire raid (or until that troop(s) being affected dies).
Normal damage boost: when the VM is attacking a buildinrgg, he does damage and makes that targeted building take more damage until it is destroyed. Will only affect one building at a time, but he does small splash damage so it is possible it could affect multiple defending CC units at a time.
Get it now? :)
Have you contacted SC?
Everyone who likes this troop, change your avi to the VM!!!!:smirk:
Glad you like it then :)
No, they've probably seen it now anyway :smirk:
I would, but I'm too lazy...:smirk:
Now you can view the newest edits to the thread on the original post itself, under trivia! It's becoming too much of a hassle to comment and say what's new, so now just look at the Original Post to find what's new. This goes for the Inferno Spell as well. Cheers :)
P.S. I am also back from vacation now! My usual response rate should resume, so please keep posting your feedback ;)
