You said the Volcano Mage is a splash damage projectile unit. What kind of range are we talking about here? Is it small or big?

But I think that when it's on 6th place in Dark Barracks Lava Hound, there will be too much lava if there will come Lava-Volcano Mage on 7th place...

I don't want to increase the damage just yet, because I don't want this to be that reliable of a troop on its own. If I decrease its damage, that will encourage people to use the Volcano Mage with their army as a support troop more.
Now that I think about it, I think I'll increase the damage boost instead.

Yes, I make sure to spend a lot of time on each of my ideas, perfecting them. I'm currently editing my second troop idea, because with the addition of the Air Sweeper, it sort of affects it.

I fully support this idea. Most ideas are repatatives like a Goblin King, Wizard King, etc, those ideas keep me away from new troops and spells.. This is original. It is one of the few things I hope get implemented. Good luck with your new troop!

This feature does not rage other troops, technically. What he does is attack a building like a normal troop, but each attack he makes that building take a certain amount of more damage. So he does not rage in the sense that he does not directly rage troops, nor does he affect their speed.

Hey not trying to be annoying, but what makes this any different from a regular wizard? It seems like it's pretty much the same thing just with different stats and a different appearance/name.
Some people have commented that this troop might be too similar to a Wizard or a Witch (I don't know, ask them). So I've decided to make some clarifications.
Why this is not similar to a witch...a question I never thought I'd answer
The only thing similar is that the Volcano Mage is a ranged troop, and does low/medium damage. However, the Volcano Mage does not spawn skeletons, he attacks buildings to make them take more damage. Also, what's different about their damage levels is that they have similar damage at level 1, but the Volcano Mage's damage DRASTICALLY increases while upgrading levels. The Volcano Mage's max damage per attack is 105 and the Witch's is 35, I think.
Why this is not similar to a Wizard
There are three main things that could make you think this is a Wizard at first glance. Probably because of its name.

Yes, a Mage is synonymous to a Wizard, but a Witch is very similar to a Wizard as well. Secondly, the Wizard is a high-damaging super cool attack troop, while the Volcano Mage is a medium damage terrorizing-when-used-correctly support troop. There is no similarity, really. Finally, the Volcano Mage has a special ability, and I have already explained that which you would know if you read the original post.
I hope this explains to all of you who think this troop is similar to a Wiz/Witch why it's not. But if it doesn't, feel free to comment and tell me why. Thanks.
sorry but to me this new troop is just to much like a wizard he does splash damage and attacks both air and ground units he also uses a ranged attack. how about this a shamen or some type of magical expert. He makes the troops attack faster do more damage or something on those lines. but make him have some attack or he will become the new val. but make him be easily destroyed. on the weaknesses you listed giant bombs the problem with that is when the regular troops like your barb king cross it. the big bomb will hit him and more than likely not the volcano mage. Also mortar towers go after the troop that is the closest and again it would hit the barb king. So maybe add something like he takes more damage from some type of defense.
I like how the damage boost doesn't stack between other volcano mages. Very smart.
This is so stupid. Only about half of the repays are from you commenting when someone else does and then only about two thirds of that actually like the idea. This would be OP. it also looks like a wizard and it is a Mage(other word for wizard) and its splash damage in fireballs. It's also got a hood etc.

I've always waited for a polished thread about this kind of troop, and here it is.
However, I've got some things to say about this.
1) It shouldn't attack
Personally, I believe it should work like the healer - standing on the ground spreading an aura (within a radius) which strengthens allies. It boosts the 'babysitting' role of the Mage annd makes it even more vunerable to defenses. It would significantly up its use because it means that many targeting different buildings can benefit from additional attack damage. Affected troops should glow reddish?
2) A buff in HP is due
It has a measly 3 tile radius, the equivalent of a Wizard and shorter than a healer. It's guaranteed to fall to mortars along with archers and wizards - it can't boost when it's dead!
3) Too much DE to make?
I understand it's supposed to be a 'next-in-line' troop that is stronger, but it's cost surpasses the witch - in fact with it's current stats, wouldn't the endurance and attacking power of the Witch be better than the Mage? I think it should be scaled to make it more affordable in a normal army - it has a relatively low cooking time and army camp space after all.
Sorry, I really couldn't think about anything else. I'll post more feedback when I can think of more points.
But really, it's a really well thought out idea - it might need a bit more thought into applications and practicality.

1) Maybe. I see what you mean, on how it would increase the usability of this troop. That could work well, I think I'll wait for what other people have to think.
2) It is meant to be weak, to strategically place it safe behind other units. At level 1, it has the same HP as a level 6 Wizard, and this troop can be a menace when used correctly. I don't know. As usual, anyone comment if they agree.
3) I will decrease the DE. I agree, the high cost could drive people away from using this troop, and we don't want that :)

I think this troop is great and should definitely be in the game but the damage should be low (like the Witch) and also the name makes me think of it as a Wizard hero. But great idea man.

Major changes have been made to the thread. I added the new Lava Spell Ability. The reason I made this post was important: I know I want the lava spell to double troops' damage, but should it also slow them down, or do something else too?

The attack speed should be 0.5. The attack power should be 20 at level 1. The AI should make the Volcano Mage attack the building that the group it is targeting...
