Let's do some quick math here. I have 7 Elixir Drills and Gold Mines at 3,500 per hour. That is:
294,000 Gold and Elixir I get for a 12 hour shield
I have 3 DE Drills at 45 per hour. That is:
1,620 DE for my 12 hour shield.
So if people were looking at this "problem" economically, it would take, at least, an equivalent of 294,000 of each back from attacks they could have avoided by having their TH exposed and taking the shield. On top of this, when we are raided, we are losing some loot each time.
I just don't see a way that having a defensive bonus is going to encourage anyone to allow more attacks unless it is a ridiculously high amount of money for a successful defense, which will have people attacking to get rid of their shields so they can get attacked again (as opposed to drawing weak attacks as they are currently doing).
There is no good way to make defense as viable as offence without changing the entire point of the game, and as I have said, why not just let defense be what defense is and always has been in every game, sport or war; a means to protect something, not to gain something.
maybe but when you block a shot in basketball it doesnt subtract 2 points from your score, in hockey/soccer it doesnt subtract a goal from your own goals, in baseball when you turn a double play it doesnt subtract runs from the other team. in every sport created a successful defense you keep the goals/runs/point you earned. in this game if you have a successful defense you still lose loot. so if you lose the battle should you not get any loot then? your comparing two things that are completely different.
if on successful defenses i didnt lose any loot then great! but thats not how it is. even on raids that i successfully defend i still potentially lose 250K of gold/elixir and 2k dark elixir, and then i have no shield and the next person can do the same thing, get 30% lose the battle and steal 240k gold/elixir and 1900 dark elixir. so in a matter of a half hour i can get attacked 3 or 4 times losing only one battle but losing a total of 1 million gold/elixir, and 7 to 8k dark elixir. do you lose a third of your points in basketball for getting ur shot blocked 4 times?? nope.
defense wins are not meant to bankroll. That's how you're looking at it.

Hey, I am perfectly fine with a defense bonus. But as someone put it, it is drops in a bucket. My argument is that nobody who can do simple math, is going to change their defense for this suggestion, because the loot gained from it is too measly, and I think, the amount of loot needed to get people to change how they look at defense will be game changing/breaking.
If this is (and i forget which thread I'm on now cause there are so many) just a nice minimal kickback to people who are saving trophies and getting hit big, hell yeah, lets go for it, but if this is the start of a string of changes to effectively MAKE people protect their town halls, I am not for it.
But also lets be honest how many take absolute full use of the 12 hour shield all the time, on average we probably only use 6-8 hours before we get the urge to attack once more. It doesn't have to be much it could be something like 5-10% of resources looted, just something to take the edge off a sting. The number of times I have stolen most of the dudes resources and gave him 39% man they must be reeling by now.
