Ice tower (Redesigned and improved!)

Alright, my anti-dragon tower idea was a total flop. I didn't expect it to be so bad but now that I look at it, it was horrible. BUT, from those ashes I tried to salvage what I could and got the idea for a non anti dragon ICE TOWER.
So just pitching my thoughts here:

THE ICE TOWER
The Ice tower, this magnificent spire made from pure ice is home to a wizard that has mastered spells of cold and winter. Just thinking of the capabilities of this structure is sure to give you a brain freeze! Try to be nice to the wizard on top, you wouldn't want him giving you the cold shoulder.

This tower can be built when you reach town hall level 9 for a price of about, one million gold. (In a doctor Evil voice)
This tower has two modes
Burst (like a wizard tower) which has a small radius of affect but has a chance to freeze enemies for a short period of time.
Beam (like inferno tower) Can lock onto a few (3-5) different targets but does constant damage and slows target.

With about three levels of upgrading capabilities (level four maxed)

Level 1: Price: One million gold (purchase at Th 9 and another at Th 10)
Health: 300
DPS: (burst)10, (beam)8
(relevant to only beam mode)
Number of targets: 3
Speed reduction: 15%
(relative to burst mode)
Time frozen: 2 second
Chance to freeze: 20%

Level 2: Price: Million and a half gold (upgrade at Th 9)
Health: 320
DPS: (burst) 12, (beam) 9
(relevant to only beam mode)
Number of targets: 3
Speed reduction: 15%
(relative to burst mode)
Time frozen: 3 seconds
Chance to freeze: 20%

Level 3: Price: Two million gold (upgrade at Th 10)
Health: 330
DPS: (burst) 15, (Beam) 11
(relevant to only beam mode)
Number of targets: 4
Speed reduction: 15%
(relative to burst mode)
Time frozen: 3 seconds
Chance to freeze: 20%

Level 4: Price: Four million gold (upgrade at Th 10)
Health: 450
DPS: (Burst) 16, (Beam) 11
(relevant to only beam mode)
Number of targets: 5
Speed reduction: 20%
(relative to burst mode)
Time frozen: 4 seconds
Chance to freeze: 25%

I know some of it may be a bit OP but that is for you to decide. This is just the starting point for a defense!

Nerf as of 3/31: Halved the health and increased town hall level

Nerf as of 4/9: Troops that shoot fire or explode (Wizards, Dragons, Lava hounds, Balloons, Wallbreakers) do more damage (x 2 maybe?)

Buff as of 4/9: Longer freeze time on burst mode

If someone would be so kind as to make a concept art of this I would greatly appreciate it!

I really like the idea, sounds like a good defense that isn't too OP yet is still cool in its own way (see what i did there). You've done a great job explaining the whole idea and is quiet impressive.

I like it :) just disagree withy modes of firing. I don't think towmhall 7 is the way to go with it :p. Not enough walls unless they add more walls

As far as concept art; It took me awhile to find someone with some artwork. I had to message a Friend. (My wizard tread needed images too.)

I feel the firing modes gives it a bit more personality but we all have our own opinions, also I agree that Th7 is kinda low maybe Th8? I know I have a few extra walls with my current layout.

Townhall 8 might work but that's an additional tower to upgrade with a wizard tower to build. I Wouldn't focus that much on the townhall availability as super cell does decide this.

Fire re modes I don't like because this could be op at higher levels but I suggest sticking with it being 2 choices like you have so supercell and other players can say what they think on it :p

Before you come up with new building ideas you ask these questions:
.) Which attack troops need a nerf at the moment (for example Pekkas)
.) What are the building characteristics to achieve that goal (many small units for distraction)
.) What other unwanted balancing changes or done with this update and how do you counter them (hogs are nerfed as well and get too weak at th8, add a dark drill to make them available earlier)

And then only the last step is:
.) What optical effect can the building have (skeleton trap because it fits the halloween style and looks cool)

If you add buildings just because they are cool it will only break things and not fix it.

This op has a point. You might wanam adress how it affects other troops. For example how I did it:

In my opinion and others it's unbalanced. I did some research on the Internet and YouTube to look at other peoples attacks and how it goes. Mostly the same results as I got. So this may add a little more damage to this attack and might balance it a bit more as it is unbalanced at this point and it has been proven by Battleborn how little skill it takes. I personally watched him place spells on the edge of the base early and randomly deploy and recieve 88% on a nearly maxed base. The dps isn't a huge increase but it's a little to maybe balance somewhat.

Comparing to other ideas that'll change gameplay:
A. "Nerf the lavahound."-LavaHound isn't the issue. It's just how strong the troop combo is. You can't nerf a troop for doing its purpose.
B."Nerf the balloons"-Yeah you could do this, but they were functioning fine before the lavaloonion raids. No need to fix it if it's not broken.
C."Add an Air-defense/Level."- There's not really a lot of space for a new building and this would hurt all air raids not just one. If a level was added then again you would be ruining all air attacks.

Alright, I know its been sometime but I think I came up with the pros and cons of this and also maybe a new feature or two. First off should be the new features as they may change the pros and cons.

New features:
Freeze spell won't affect this tower, it is after all made of ice.

Lava hounds/pups are not frozen or slowed by this tower. They are made from lava so it seems to just fit that they don't get frozen or slowed by the towers icy spells.

Anything that has a fire attack (Dragons, Wizards, Lava hound/pups) will do more damage to the ice tower.

Good and flaws (this will be a general idea of how its not too op or weak)


Good:
This tower won't kill raids, it wont be so strong that nothing can stop it.

This tower won't be a anti air raid or anti ground raid structure, it won't be used against a specific raid.

There is a troop immune to its ability (slowing and freezing).

The tower will not kill everything in a couple seconds, it will hardly do damage but will be used to support your other defenses.

It has a weakness to fire attacks, if proven too difficult just bring a couple wizards or a dragon.

Flaws:
There are only a handful of units that do extra damage to this tower, and only 2 (lava hound and pup) that are not affected by it. If a fire-based ground (dark) troop would be added, it could balance it out pretty easily.

Some may think the design won't fit, and I agree (especially in higher town halls where almost everything is fire based) but I feel it was a good choice because: When there are a lot of fire based buildings, wouldn't you get tired of the constant heat and want somewhere to cool off?

I'm having troubles thinking of anything else, let me know what you think!

Also if anyone has a good idea for a fire based unit or finds one over search, please let me know.

ANY defence which can freeze the troops will completely spoil the balance of the game (unless it's a freeze trap).
Imagine a combo of freeze + inferno. Would that even be sensible?
Hog attacks would be finished. You deploy your healing spell ahead, they get frozen and die by the time it reaches there or keep your tower surroundedby giant bombs.
Barch would be affected very badly. Archers anyway die with one mortar shot, even barbarians wouldn't survive long enough.
The slow troops like Pekka, balloons, golem would just never get enough time to win.

I know this defense sounds like a good idea, would be good for your base. But think of the offensive side? This will make it really tough and almost impossible for th 10s.

I like the idea, but maybe it could appear a little later in the game (town hall level 9/10)? It's quite like the shock launcher on Boom Beach which is a great defense!

Alright I see your slow troops point, but here is the thing: it won't have tons of health, send something to distract it while wizards take it out. A rage spell would make up for any lost speed. Also as an added bonus how about I give you this, can't target air units? And as for hog attacks, they only have a chance of being frozen and when they are its for a short period of time.

I honestly think it is better suited for a new update to the game and for lvl 11th.
As long as it just minorly slows troops down, it doesn't seem op.

BTW, wouldn't stuff that goes boom (wb, gallons, my new troop [check out my activity for more]) affect it more strongly as well. And you also forgot the witch. I also have a new spell that would balance it out.

Ironninja, Frist off, don't use my post as a billboard for your ideas. Second, I do like about the "exploding" troop also but that would only add the balloon to the extra damage list (which in my opinion is now enough for this tower to be balanced).

Also who says they have plans for a TH 11? The day that it comes I will change this idea completely.

I like the idea, but I do think that the chance to freeze is still low (so underpowered lol). I would like it if towers with special powers (freeze, slow, poison) were added.

With all the nerfs I gave it I decided to buff out the freeze time, not much of a difference but still a buff!

It's been awhile since I last made an update to this thread but, I feel its pretty well made right now. If there is anything, ANYTHING at all anyone would want to see please say. Hope you enjoy!
