I am new to this game (less than ten days).... And I was wondering about the strategy of completely leveling up through TH7-(possibly) 10 without attacking at all. I am currently at TH5 and it seems like a good idea but I am unsure about this as a long term approach,.any thoughts"?

Could you be slightly more specific?
Raiding other people is how you get most of your resources. Mines and collectors are just a supplement. You need trophies to not progress at a snail's pace because you will never get resources. Also, people will attack you anyway and make you gain trophies without you doing anything. As a TH5, you should be at around 800 trophies.
Think about it.
If you play the game… "properly", then a good 90% of your resources should come from raiding. Let's say you have level 9 gold mines. With six total gold mines at town hall 7, earning 2,200 per hour, and the upgrade to town hall 8 costing 2,000,000 gold:
2,200(6)=13,200 gold per hour
2,000,000/13,200=151.5 hours
It would take 151.5 hours, or 6 days, to earn that gold just from collecting. And that is not including getting raided, assuming the attacker will destroy all of your gold mines and taking all resources from them, resetting the collection.
And that's just for town hall 8, which takes 8 days to upgrade to. I don't know about town hall 9 or 10, though… Presumably MUCH longer.
Is that specific enough?
But if everyone is playing that way...no one should be at "0" trophies to attack my leve 7 town hall? And it looks very easy to go down in trophies after a successful defense.
It basically sounds like ...that other than the long wait times...
Actually zero-199 trophies is home to most hardcore farmers farming in the so-called sub200 range. That included my almost maxed th8 alt will.Quote:
