An archer can always run down the tower to put it out...

It's too bright, sunny & cheery for a game where you are supposed to smash your enemies. Night may be too dark, but how bout twilight or dawn. Just turn down the sun without turning down all the other graphics (buttons, chat, etc).

Many other games switch background &environment with season and holidays several times throughout the year and release huge updates for each without fail.

If SC wanted to they could implement a brightness toggle for your home village easily, which would keep all the buttons and chat as bright as normal.

Seeing others bases in an altered brightness may be a little trickier but I'm sure they could do that as well.

Here's to hoping next year Halloween update with be dark and stormy. :)
