I can't stop TH6 and TH7 completely annihilating my base, right?

So, I'm TH5, and my mostly-upgraded storages are almost full. All the time. My walls are maxed, and basically I'm just waiting to be able to go to TH6. I want to upgrade defenses first and war a little. Maybe I raided people too enthusiastically and that's why I currently have too many resources.
Anyway, I was hovering around 875 trophies yesterday and I lost close to 250K resources in both gold and elixir.

The thing is, and I want to be very clear about this, 99% of the time, people who clear me out are NEVER TH5. Apparently my storages are so appealing that even with the townhall thing that doesn't allow them to get 100% of the loot they still go for my base.

Want to know who cleared me out? This:
- 5 healers + 20 giants and a few archers/barbs. My air defense is currently being upgraded...
- Freaking Barb King level 5 + many, many troops.

Is there a solution to my problem? Dropping trophies? Before this I'd never been raided for more than 20K, and it happened only once.

See, I found a clan that wars a little, and for various reasons I'm in no hurry to go to TH6. However I do need the gold and elixir I have. I think the upgrades for my towers, cannons and mortar will run me about 750K.
As for the elixir, yes I'm almost done with lab upgrades but I still need all the elixir I have for the ups + upgrading my gold storage.

You're better off rushing straight through TH6 to TH7, unlocking Dragons and getting your BK. Time spent at TH5 is wasted. Max TH7.

You'll still be getting smashed by THs above you, but you'll have more tools for clan wars.

There's no way to stop it. You don't get the defensive strength to put up any resistance until th8. Request clan castle Wizards when you log off for your cc and put your town hall in a corner hoping someone will snipe, but you're going to get wrecked by most attackers.

What he sets is right you have to max up everything so it is more difficult to get your base on 100%

The whole farming part of the game relies heavily on smashing 1 townhall below you (only 10% loot bonus).

At th6 you will curse the 200 troops and bk of th7
At th7 you will curse the lvl5 barch of th8
At th8 you will curse the bearded giants and the archer queen of th9
At th9 you start having a chance of defending more often

Overall the game is about raiding more then you lose so you really just need to learn to roll with it when your base gets flattened. Also if your done walls and storages are full you really don't need all that loot anyway.

I would second getting to th7 fast. A th7 with dragons can 3 star any other th7 in war, farming with 4 barracks and 4 army camps is just so much better.

I forgot to mention my TH is already outside, but it doesn't seem to change a thing. I've dropped tons of trophies a couple of hours ago, and so far I haven't been attacked again. :)
I'm waiting for a TH4 or TH5 to attack me and lose but still get the TH.

And I guess I don't need all that loot right now anyway. I mean, by the time my builders are done working and I get the chance to upgrade my defenses, my collectors will have produced more gold and elixir.

Now here's my issue: my cannons need one more level, my archer towers are far from being maxed and my mortar still needs one more level too. All I've maxed so far is one cannon + the wizard tower.

Also, some of my traps could use upgrading, and of course my collectors.

Should I just stay at TH5 for now? I'd really rather max defenses first. Maybe it won't change a thing, but once I go to the next level I'll want new shiny stuff and I'll never get these upgrades done...

Until town hall 7 upgrade once your camps and lab are maxed, there's no point in staying for defenses.

Well, my camp is maxed, and my lab is almost maxed (didn't upgrade goblins and wizards yet, but I don't think that really matters).
I like goblins, but I truly hate wizards. Seems like even if I send a meatshield they attract fire from somewhere.
I guess all that gold could be put to good use on pink walls, right?

Wizards are basically a huge waste of resources until level 5. Before then, the housing space is better spent on 5 archers. It's best to keep them leveled as much as you can, though, so you don't face a month+ of upgrade time when you finally get access to level 5.

Could I 3-star any base at TH7 even if I'm not that skilled with dragons at the beginning? Also, I just saw that the TH6 upgrade takes 4 days. That's a lot. Actually chances are I will have maxed absolutely everything when I get to TH6...
Just not the collectors because I think those are a huge waste of time. I'll max them when I don't have anything better to do.

Yes, 3 lightning spells to take out 1 air defense, then drop all the drags in a line by the other air defense. You could 3 star a TH 7 like that with your eyes closed after the first AD is down.

Not necessarily true.

You lost 250k of each resource in one day as a TH5???

There can only be one reason for that, and that reason is you not managing your shields correctly. You need to attack in sessions every time you break your shield, and not break it so often. Only attack if you know you have the time to attack more than once.

While you're training your army, leave your device on so people cannot raid you.

The game is designed that attacking a TH lower than you is very very easy. I also propose rushing to TH7. When my alt was TH5, I could farm 300k gold per hr. When he was TH7, he could farm 700k gold per hr. My main, a TH9 account can farm more than 1 mil per hr :smirk:

Yes, I did lose 250k in one day of both resources... but I also raided for easily double that. Like I said, I'm way too enthusiastic when it comes to raids. So, I might have broken my shield a tiny bit too much.
I'm pretty sure there is a list of people wanting to revenge me long like my arm, which doesn't help. I'd say half of the attacks I got were revenges. I guess I attacked close to 175 times last season, just for the fun of it. It's a new game for me, and I like to explore attacking options and just to wreck villages. :D

I've decided to settle down and keep the next shield I get.

I would really, really like to rush to TH7, but the next few weeks will be insanely busy for me and I'm not sure it's the best option. I have 15 assignments to turn in (college) before the end of next month. It's totally doable as most of the assignments are easy, but I can't say I'll be able to raid as much as I need to rush.
Also, I'm about to do a 2-month internship basically replacing a full-time secretary for free.

So yeah, that's pretty much it.

I said I would upgrade to TH6 but given my current situation I've changed my mind. I'll upgrade really soon, but not today.

I want to be done with all the defensive upgrades, the lab upgrades and my barracks upgrade for peace of mind.

And while all these fascinatingly boring upgrades are going on... I'll do my college assignments. Let's get all the boring stuff out of the way!
