how many nhs are competing?

Im just curious to know, without mentioning any nh names, how many nhs seem to actually be competing in your derby?
Has anyone come up against any obvious bot farm nhs or ones that posted zero points?

In our last derby it was close between us and 2nd place, close between 3rd and 4th but most of the other nhs only seemed to hit around 1000-3000 points in a 26 member nh.

So far this derby there are still a few on only a few hundred and 5th through to 13th are less than 3000 points and weve dropped a few members of ppl who arent playing anymore to be a 23 person nh.

It will be interesting to see, I think, if there seems to be an average number in each derby who participate or not.

Oh, our hood (29 members)'s derby has a 0-score hood. I was surprised until you mentioned bot, which could be the case, but the names in the hood look unlikely. Well, the race this time has quite high scores:

1st: 27696 (us)
2nd: 14479
3rd: 13739
4th: 10905
5th: 9634

I was told that in some races, the #1 has just about 3k pts. But in my race, #11 has 5152 pts and #12 has 2719 pts.

Must be very depending on the NB size.

Mine is just a small Family one - We are only three

atm. (4d17h left)

1 NB with 500+
Rest below 500

Same Picture on the first Derby

In my hood's(30 Members) derby we only have 4/15 neighbourhoods competing. The rest are all at 0 still. Last time all 15 were competing. None of them seem to be bot farms- at least not by the names.

In the first Derby all 15 teams were competing. We won by around 8000 points with fierce competition for third place between 4 teams. Even the 15th team had good points and passed at least two horseshoe posts.

its a very different situation this time. We have got all our horseshoes (we are a very active and fun filled group). Second team has a couple, third appears frozen on 600 points and none of the remaining teams have any points at all.

i suspect this is a glitch resulting from the problems on Monday when the race board firstly failed to open, then showed our points, then they disappeared then teams seemed to shuffle. It's taken a bit of fun out of the race but I anticipate a bit more competition in the next race. Meantime we will put the champagne on ice for the second time. ������

We have 30 members.

In the first derby I think only the top 3-4 teams were competing. This derby we have 15 NHs, all have points on the board. The top 5-6 seem to be accumulating points, the rest not so much, though expect a surge in the next couple of days. We are currently in first place but two other teams are giving us a run for our money. I don't think we have any bot farms but there is one that has 5 or 6 members with very similar farm names

we have 20 in our NH with 2 completely inactive players and a couple that cannot play as often as some of us. Our third place team started with 25 players and now has 27. The first derby all the teams had similar starting members.

Up until this morning there was one NH in our derby with a zero score. They just hit the board a few hours ago.

This derby is more global, last one was consisting of mostly English speaking Neighbourhoods.

I don't think this forum is going to get useful answer, though. Only a minority of people participate here, so you are pre-sellecting your answers for power players. There are probably many matchups out there where none of the neighborhoods are doing much. Only SC will know the real answer to this.

We're the only Nh doing the derby on our board. All 14 others are at zero. Don't know if it's a glitch, luck or a big surprise waiting to happen :-)

Our neighbourhood has 30 members (not all active/participating in the derby) & I thought it was that we would be matched with similar sized neighbourhoods. Seems strange that only 4 would be on the scoreboard, even with the glitches & other possibilities noted. While I'm happy to say our neighbourhood is in the lead, when it's only (really) 3 teams we are playing against...

All 15 nh has points. We are 3rd. 1 and 2 neck and neck. We are 3rd by less 1,000

We have a neighbor hood of 17. We have 1080 going on the last horseshoe. All the other teams are playing, 15th only has 679 pts. Atleast I dont think any are bots.

Already won 1st place in the first Derby and not going to participate in any of the upcoming Derby because the 5th checkpoint can't be achieve by small NH.

I think it is your task problem. From Ranger's table, if all members picked the highest pt tasks, 3 members hood can still get the 5th flag without using diamonds (though a little bit difficult). Of course, if you are in a 1 or 2 member hoods, then it cant be helped, but it shouldnt be compared with the true neighbourhoods in the first place.

Can't be helped? That's the best you can say? Just keep in mind that every big NH first start as a small NH. You can't just simply push the fault to small NH just because we have our reasons to stay small. Its not task problem because:

2 players X 320 (max derby points per task) X 6 (assuming both members used diamonds, and we did) = 3840 Total Derby Points.

Try to prove me wrong by showing screenshots that there are higher points tasks that the current 320. Or tweak it so that smaller NH gets 10 tasks + 1 for diamonds, then I'll shut up and play next Derby. Till then, its still unfair to small NH.

Do you even read my post? Yes, 320 pts is the max pt task currently. Thats why I said 3-member hoods can still accomplish. But it cant be helped since you cant get the 5th horseshoe under current rule if it is 2 members or below.

I will combine what you mention in the other post too. Personally, a direct scale is unfair to big hoods. A max is 1600 pts without using diamonds, if you ask 45000 pts in a 30 member hood, if 1 or 2 member has been away for a week, then 28 or 29 members will suffer. Thats what I mention as inactive member effects to the size of hood. You cant kick ppl out just because they are away for 1 week, right? But if its a small hood consisting of only family members, you could even help playing too. So sometimes the effect can be masked.

Besides, a 1-member neighborhood has no neighbors, so it shouldnt be called a neighborhood. And I really have no idea on which point it should be considered a neighborhood. 2 members look more like a small group than a neighborhood.

What I dont agree is YOUR scale, but if its something like:

1 member: 300 600 1000 1500 2100
2: 400 800 1400 2200 3100
3: 500 1000 1800 2900 4100

So because you can't achieve the 5th horse shoe you are going to opt-out on receiving 4 other prices with a possibility of up to 3 other prizes (if you finish top 3)? I guess that's your own call.. Let me also state this: in the first derby the 30 members NH I'm in also did not reach the 5th horse shoe.. Though luck (in the current derby it's looking slighly better to reaching it tho..)

Our hood is full, and we are competitive, but in this derby and the last, second place is wayyyyyyy behind us. We hope that in an upcoming derby we are matched against a hood that is as competitive as us!!

in this derby, there are five hoods playing, but are dragging the chain, so to speak. They might catch up, but I doubt it.

I wasn't even complaining about 3 members and up. The concern is for those NH with 1 player and 2 players respectively. Why it can't be helped? Because those NH with at least 3 up to 30 can reach 5th checkpoint, then NH with 1 or 2 players should be ignored?? That's the way it is? Why direct scale is unfair to big hoods? I can't possibly accept that the 5th checkpoint is there and my NH can't reach it and yet you can accept that your big hood can do those tasks in a relax way and yet able to reach 5th checkpoint easily? If big hoods think its unfair to have direct scale, then its fair for 5th checkpoint to be lowered and achievable for 1 or 2 players NH, that's all I ask, as long as the 5th checkpoint can be achieve, even if we have to do max (320 points per tasks) and we must buy 6th tasks to reach it, I will stop my complain. Btw, Nick never said a NH must have at least 3 players or else it can't be created because if that's so, then all NH that starts with a leader and slowly recruiting can't be considered as a NH in your dictionary.

There's no matter whether you agree to the direct scale or not, just because those prizes are considered bonus, if SC wants every NH to work hard to reach 5th checkpoint, then every NH should work hard to reach it, regardless of size and such. Whether SC decides to force every NH member to do only 300+ points per task and buy 6th task, its up to SC, but to see that the average points per NH member for big hood vs small hood is so much difference, its just not right.

SC can assume every NH members must spent 10 diamonds on 6th tasks, with max points per task at 320 each, then I don't mind to continue trashing all tasks below 320 to reach a total of 3840 for 5th checkpoint. As for 30 members hood, it should be direct scale to 57600 for 5th checkpoint. Having inactive members is not a good reason for not reaching it if your hood really want those prizes.

With all due respect zen2071, I think the scale as is is fair. If sc makes it possible to achieve all tasks for 1-2nh, then where is the incentive to join a bigger nh? Everyone may as well go solo--less drama, no need to consider the playing style/time your neighbours can put into hay day, no compromises regarding preferences for tasks, etc, etc. While it is possible for a 20+ nh to achieve the 5th goal post easily in theory, in practice, it may be impossible due to inactive members, real life time constraint, willingness/agreement to trash low point tasks due to consideration (as it should) for other members' preferences/do abilities--compromises must be made between laid back/fiercely competitive members, etc, etc.

A case in point, I belonged to a 30 nh and in last week's race, less than half of the 15 teams achieved the 5th goal post.

I know how u feel... our nh is something like 12, 000 points ahead of second place and most of our members still have at least one or two tasks each left.
Maybe sc needs to implement an option that needs to be selected by a leader, co leader or elder each week to opt into the next derby because right now it feels a bit like a one hore race

I'm betting that since such a small portion of the Hayday family visits the forum that there is a lot of people who are unaware of how to trash tasks, which tasks are a good value and which are not. in the next months as people make youtube videos wiki posts and various other internet forums the competition will grow to a more involved level.

hmmm.. in our hood 1st (us) 4500p, 2nd 60, 3rd and the rest 0 points. Strange or what? First I thought this is a bug, but don´t know.:confused: And our hood has 30 members.

I am in a 30 farm NH and there are only 3 NH's participating in this derby. I guess we will have to wait for the next one to see if the thus far ironed out glitches will help with general participation. I do think there must be a heck of a lot of inactive NH's though, but it's hard to tell since you can't visit any of the farms you are competing against to try and see if they are active.

Incentive to join a bigger NH? There isn't any because they will tell me that because I'm lower level than most of them, its rule of thumb for them to help me and I don't have to repay or compensate that, that to me is not working, because I'm a competitive person and I only do fair trade. If I sell at full price for a trade, I expect the same, don't tell me because you're higher level, more coins is not much use to you, that's why you sell at cheaper price to me. Me and my wife left, as we don't want to feel useless. I announced back then to a mod to delete my recruitment posts because I don't want the same thing to happen with my NH just because I recruited more members. Only the Co-Leader there knows about the issues I'm facing there.

I'm just waiting for Nick to tell me, if his team is not going to tweak the 5th checkpoint and my NH needs at least 3 players in order to reach the 5th checkpoint, then am I allowed to create a 2nd farm to join my NH just for the sake of hitting the 5th checkpoint? If he gives me a green light, then I'll stop bickering here. Thank you all for your comments.

I think you are always allowed to have a second farm, as long as you have more than 1 devices. But they never mention whether computer+bluestack counts though. I reported a few farms using those before as reference, but I dont think they do anything at all.

For me, I most enjoy figuring out the puzzle of making things run efficiently and maximizing profits. When I joined my first NH at level 29 it was a requirement that everybody sell at max. I've been doing that since then. IMO giving handouts is depriving people of the opportunity to figure out the puzzle. I'll spend hours discussing profit and production strategy with neighbors. But other than the occasional gift, where the recipient has nothing to do with level, this neighborhood doesn't work as you describe.

Zen, don't lump us all together. There are many kinds of people playing HayDay. Although it can be troublesome to find a good neighborhood fit.

So sorry XYZZY, I went ahead and push everything to big NH. I know I shouldn't have said that, its just that when someone said those in small NH (1 or 2 players) should be punished, then I took it too heavy. I'm sorry I do not blame all big NH, its just that certain players (who happened to be in big NH) are behaving that way. Maybe a lot of the small NH players don't come to forum but as one of the players in small NH, I think I have done nothing wrong in voicing out the issues. If we don't voice out any issues while Derby is still new, once it becomes permanent, changes won't be consider. Btw, thank you for your PM, I replied to you.

I see what you are saying about strategy, it may be taking away a piece of the puzzle. But we also talk a lot about the finer points of HD play too. I guess my selling at $1 may be for more my sake than theirs. Lol, but its hard to sell items full price when you really don't want the money. It makes me feel greedy. I also ask my members to charge me full price. But I appreciate it when they dont. The other coin rich neighbours in my nh also sell for $1. If a neighbour wants items I have and they say charge me full price, I do. Of course trading is just a small fraction of how we help each other so i always try to make lower levels feel appreciated and useful in other ways. Thanks for your insight.

In my neighborhood, if someone is selling to a neighbor for a request it is always at the default price, whether it is a high level selling to a low level or vice versa. If someone just has extra stuff to sell, they put it in their shop for as much as they want, and let people know they have good stuff for sale. I wouldn't think of trying to make a profit (sell for max) when a neighbor asks if I can spare something, that's what the DD is for. ��

And as far as the problem of a 1 or 2 member neighborhood not being able to get the fifth checkpoint, just be glad that such a small neighborhood is allowed to be in the derby at all. In Clash of Clans, you need at least 10 people in your clan to participate in Clan Wars.

Also, SC has always told us clashers that 1 account per device is allowed, so if you have a tablet & a phone you can have 2 accounts.

On Topic: We have 30 in our NH. Last derby, very competitive and we came in 4th. This one, we are in 1st with just over 8,000; 2nd place has 6,300; and 3rd place has 5,100. 4th & 5th are right around 100, and none of the others have anything.

Out of 15 NHs only 1 has 0 points. Our nh is 1st with barely over 16700 points (all 5 rewards wooohooo) and have 27 members, almost all are active and daily players.
Other 13 nhs listed have at least 4000 points, 2nd has around 12000 and 3rd aroun 10000 I think.

SC only mentioned that in order to participate in Derby, we have to join a NH, but didn't mentioned that we have to have at least 3 members in order to reach 5th checkpoint.

First, the prizes are not that great. Reaching 5th checkpoint really not that big a deal

Second, 2 people are not a hood they are a family.

3rd. There are some hoods that do not even allow chat, asking or giving help. They got together for town visitors only.

4th. SC probably does not want to encourage people not to join "proper" hoods - the kind they envisioned when they started them.

Choices in life have consequences. Do not like the consequences, rethink your choice. Want to stay separated from other farmers, that is great. No problem. No checkpoint.

Buy the way. It may offend you, but i really do not need any coin. Nothing left to buy. If you do not want to buy what i have to sell for 1 coin, do not buy it. Problem solved.

Oh this time there was no competition at all. We are like 25.000 horseshoe ahead of the first runner up and we even took over some 240-250 hs tasks towards the end. Normally we do 280+

For the first time there are a couple of hoods that scored zero overall.

Agreed. The prizes aren't something I'm going to lose sleep over. But if they are going to have a 5th checkpoint, at least make it reachable for my Army of 2 :D

30 people isn't a hood, it's a clan :)

It certainly isn't the prizes on offer which make the Derby interesting, it's the challenge itself.

In our NH we learnt on the first mini-derby when we came 2nd, the first full week one we came 1st well ahead of the rest, and we're currently way out in the lead in this week's, something like 10-12,000 ahead of the next NH.

It brings all of us together and we enjoy seeing the fact that we're a competitive NH with great active members.

There is at least one lot who have 0 this week too.

But wouldn't it be good if Neighbourhoods started to become seeded based on each week's results and then got drawn against each other in upper/middle/lower quartiles. Then it would be game on:D

We are second with 8000 points. My neighbors are not daily players, they are doing their best but mostly is business as usual.

I agree totally. I would love to see neighborhood pairings based on power rankings of previous results. Much like real claiming horse races. Every derby has been over for us in less than 12 hours, and we had other nh's that started playing but gave up. As of now, we are 25,000+ points ahead of 2nd place. Last week we had 23,000 point margin victory. Won the first mini derby by a wide margin too. Neighborhood has near 100% participation, operates with the pedal to the metal, and very selective about tasks chosen. That kind of combination is very difficult to beat!

Personally, I think it would make s HUGE difference if SC weren't so stingy with rewards. Its the same oh same oh. Last derby we worked our behinds off, toik first plsce, and got......LEMs! Seriously, all those orders for a marker ant and deed? How about REAL prizes - a barn expansion, the windmill, a bunch of siamonds, etc. You would see a lot more involvement if the rewards were better.

In my hood, we are looking for derby folks. That said, I have serious doubts about how sustainable the derby will remain if the prizes remain so lame.

The game is no different than real life in that we all work a lot harder for things we really want. SC should rotate 1st through 3rd prize winnings up front and make it something people REALLY WANT. Then, I bet you would see some real competition. Just my 2¢…

I disagree with this. There will be a derby every week. You're in an active neightborhood, you'll probably be getting 1st place on a near weekly basis. Giving windmills (or BRTs or whatever) on a weekly basis doesn't make a lick of sense, and just devalues them. I think people should take the fact that the derby runs every single week as a hint to work their derby tasks into their normal farming routine, and not treat it as some huge effort.

I agree with what you said here. Some us don't want a windmill, I already have 2, actually have all prize big decorations except the gramophone. People forget that the game is played by many, not just them and while someone wants it one way, another does not. SC tries to make it down the middle, they are never gonna please everyone and some can never be pleased anyways.

I don't find the derby to be some huge effort, my NH has been done with all their tasks since Friday. The tasks are all things you have to do anyways. I can't tell you what prizes I got for 1st place in last derby I like the challenge of derby's and events not the prizes. If the prizes were something I didn't need they were sold in my shop to someone who does need them.
