Full skulls

Hi you lovely forumers, I just wanted to share that I have finally got full skulls(well 6 to go but they'll be done before the end of the day so I'm half a day early lol) and now onto filling the coffers in time for my th9 journey which begins in earnest Friday evening. I'm going to miss TH8, but can't wait for the Aq and level 6 giants and loons.
A quick question for you guys, should I get an xbow(or both) straight off the bat or should I wait until new stuff is up to th8 levels? I do war twice a week and have read that x bows are quite a big part of the matchmaking process, please feel free to correct me.....

I have 5 builders. Yes all of the above is on the list to start off th9, I just wasn't sure whether the xbow will hurt my clan's matchmaking?

When I hit Th9 I had maxed resources and farmed very actively for the first 2 weeks. I also had 5 builders. I had 4 builders continuously on elixir upgrades (lab, spell factory, army camps - in that order), with the last builder upgrading the AQ until she was level 5. In between AQ upgrades I dumped all my gold into getting my new walls up to skulls and then adding a few legos. Once my offensive capabilities were upgraded I started working on defences, with the occasional dark barracks upgrade to get the lava hound. I got the new buildings up to TH8 level (including both X bows), then upgraded all the wizard towers and mortars to TH9. I'm currently upgrading my CC and dark elixir drills then plan on focusing on ADs, X-bows, teslas, archer towers, and cannons (in that order). I try to keep both BK and AQ upgrading at all times (currently level 16 and 11, respectively), though sometimes I don't have the DE. Hopefully that helps a bit. PS. I'm not sure about how much the X-bow affects war rankings. But in all honestly they are not required immediately anyway. There's no doubt they are good, but offence always beats defence if you're active.

I suggest 1 xbow, cc is a better use of your gold than second xbow in terms of war. It will enable you to take a max golem right away to execute TH9 hybrid attacks like goho [assuming you have level 4 hogs].

If you really want to be a matchmaking asset I suggest sit out of wars for a little while until SF, AQ level 5, cc and camps are done. By then you can field a real TH9 army which can 3-star many low-mid TH9 bases. At this stage you don't need to artificially hold defense back, 2 xbows are fine.

I farm around 5mill of both a day when I can give the time, but some days as little as 2mill, depending on real life(shudders). I really appreciate the guide, I've read a fair few but yours was the most succinct :)

Yes I have level 4 hogs, I have maxed everything including walls, troops, spells, traps etc. The only troop I didn't do is Valk to level 2, golem is currently in the lab and will be finished in a couple of days. I had debated on sitting war out for a while as I really enjoy advising other clan members of the best war attacks on each Base. Is TH9 as fun as they say it is?

First of all, congratulations on getting full skulls! Its not easy to get it, me myself is still farming for the level 7 ones too lol.

I recommend that you get stuff in this order, depending on what kind of person you are. I will assume that you have all 5 builders, because a maxed out TH8 mostly have 5 builders, I got mine not too long ago too. If you mostly farm, go for laboratory, then upgrade (go)barch ASAP, and get your archer queen. Upgrade your clan castle, and your spare gold can be used for upgrading mortars (splash damage is important). If you are the trophy pushing type, go the same thing applies, but try to get your most needed troops earlier, for example if you use Balloonion a lot get your balloons first. That's what I do too, no rule against that. Lastly, if you are the clan war type, aka you do mostly clan wars, go for x-bows, splash (mortars and wiz towers), upgrade lab and cc (as always), and for lab get your most used clan war troops, normally wizards and dragons. I recommend upgrading your barracks too, because witches are important for TH9s (IMO). Barch can be done after that.

If you prioritize war you should forget TH9 defenses entirely and do camps, CC, and troops first.

Building Xbows right off that bat are a noob mistake that most early 9's make. It ties up valuable build times when you need things like your lab, SF, camps, CC, Queen, new elix storage, etc way more as an early 9.

You could at least start an xbow if you want however, as even while they are building they will still be able to be used in war defense.

Also, keep in mind the higher you upgrade defensively, the higher you will be ranked on the war ladder. As a fresh 9 you will lack the offense to hit most 9's (especially mid tier and higher).... so make sure you have the offensive power first before you upgrade too many defenses. Xbows are ranked pretty high in terms of ladder/matchmaking so keep that in mind as well.

If war is less of a priority, then just upgrade your splash defenses and primary farm troops first. That or sit out of wars until you have the offenses/defenses that you feel are adequate.
