This is a relatively long explanation on how to lavaloon in war but I feel some key elements in other videos were missed in explaining how to perform successful lavaloon attacks on th9s so I felt it necessary to give more detail to the attack.

Let me start by saying I found your post because I was sick and tired of the golem attacks, which became very unreliable for the 3 star.
So I watched your guide, and practiced a couple times, and went in for my first attack in war.
2 stars-88%. Had one archer tower left that took down several pups at the end. I eventually ran out of time.
I almost cleared the last defensive structure with my queen, needed literally 1 more hit. (darned dark elixer storage was in front of it:(. And I didn't even have my king for the war, he was being upgraded.
With my King, I could have easily used him to clear other buildings and use as a meat shield to get last archer tower taken down for my pups to clean that bad boy up.
His base had 3 level 6 and 1 level 7 air support and a CC chuck full of wizards.
I botched the loon drop a bit because the loons gravitated to one side of the map and looped. I definately need to work on that part of the attack. I am just somewhat confused on how wide to start my loons because of ground only defenses. I am still unsure if it's more important to stretch out the loons to reduce looping and bunching, or to keep the loop more confined to reduce nagging archer towers from nipping at my loons from halfway across the map.
But overall, this attack/guide is awesome. I'm so pumped to have an army that I can control better, and bring some major heat.
And im getting my crew to start using it. This has brought new life to our wars, as we all felt limited to the attacks we used on heavy bases.

Glad my guide helped you. The strat definitely takes some practice and timing.
The most difficult part of the strat is loon deployment. If the air defenses are really deep into the base then you probably want to drop groups of balloons a little before you deploy the lava hounds but not too early that they start getting killed by archer towers, teslas, air defenses, etc.
Additionally, if the air defenses are deep in the base you don't want to drop your hounds too early or else they will all die before the balloons get to them in time to support. Ideally you want the first 2 hounds to explode just as your balloons reach the air defenses they're at so the other 2 hounds start flying to the remaining air defenses while you use your rage to speed your balloons to the other side of the base quicker. You also want to drop groups of balloons at every defense possible creating a semi circle somewhat. If this fails, you will end up having groups of balloons going off course to those defenses that were missed.
This strat is also very base specific so awkward air defense placement or non symmetric bases will be a problem. I know I said to bring just 4 lava hounds but a 5th may help if the enemy cc is full of wizards as they will kill your hounds very quickly.
It will all take practice and I'm still in the process of learning it myself but glad that you found my guide helpful.
edit: I need to credit Ash for introducing the strategy to everyone's attention. I basically took what he explained and built a little more upon it so I cannot take full credit.
I had found a perfect base to attack with this strategy, but it didn't go well.
There was the queen placed right next to the air support, on the outer side of one of the two squared front ADs.
So I drop the hounds, and the Queen runs to the outisde towards the incoming Hound and when it flies over her head, she doesnt follow the hound, but continues to shoot it from quite a ways away. So my lava hound explodes and the lava pups arent even close to her because she ran away from AD and then shot from a distance, leaving her alive to just destroy my loons. I eneded up with 80% and 1 star.
Is there any way of keeping her closer to the AD so my pups will be closer to her to take her out?
I was so excited about this attack before, but I'm afraid of flopping down another 1 star.
Also, does this attack need to have the ADs squared to work?
last time i got that problem too ... quenn rather far from ad ... after shoot lava, she goes back , but luckily my king agro her , and so my quenn kill her at last ...

I can't keep my loons from bunching in the center of the map.
The attack usually goes fairly well, but im leaving only a ccouple defenses that eventually keeps me from a 3 star.
I do try space out the loons, but they always bunch.
Any advice?
