Im about to check this beast out, other clan mates of mine have fallen in love with this strat. Anybody tried this?
I tried but the CC "wizards "always eliminates my troops
Yes, with varying degrees of success --- its not quite the walkover that the whinging nerf brigade go on about.
I've won some, and lost some, and in war those that tried against us, have only managed 2 stars on our top th9's --- yet to be three starred by it myself.
I found the bases i could get 3 stars were the ones with 4 central ADs covering each other. This meant rage spells could be dropped later in the attack , and when the first 2 hounds died, the pups were in range of the rage spell, making up for the lack of minions - so precise timing is required.
Just my experience so far ---- I like it so far, and will keep practicing -- but to be honest, so far in war, in our clan, those that 3 starred us, more often used hog based strats..................
Lavaloon in the right hands is deadly... better than 4 hounds is 3 hounds with a golem or two that are designed to tank and kill the opposing archer queen, clan castle troop and also take out an air defense (or two).
Then have the hounds circle the base, releasing hounds in a clockwise or counterclockwise motion with targeted balloons (2 per defense building). Rage loons to get to the AD and continue r
working AROUND the base.
Check out some of the war recaps on my youtube channel to see how this is done.

If mastered, It's probably the best strat out there right now for 3 starring th9s.
I've got 6 stars 2 wars in a row with quadlavaloon 4 rage on bases higher up than me.
The bases have to be ideal tho, some bases with awkward air defense positioning may cause this strat to fail so it really depends on the base.
I think it works well IF your 4th lava hound is from your clan castle, allowing you to train more loons or minion. Minions and loons tend to be spread out. If they are in ur cc you can only drop them in one spot all at once while lava hounds are dropped at key spots n the the max you'll have in your cc is one lava hound, it's the same as if you dropped him from your own trained troops. Do you follow me? It's hard for me to express my though written out vs if I could just show you. But yes to 4 hounds, with one in ur cc.
Quattrolavaloon is better than quattrolavaloonion... no need for minions when using 4 lava hounds. works best on symmetrical bases. lava pups + rage will help destroy cc troops if they're chasing lava hounds. rage placement is important in helping your loons push through the base.
...which is why it's not the best strat out there. In fact, there is no "best strat". Different bases yield 3 stars in different ways - some are weak to hog attacks, some to GoLaloon, and some to QuatroLavaLoon. No minions, as 3stars has said, they will help you get a 2 star but will hurt your chances at the 3 star.
Lava Hound based war strategies are the strongest attacks available for the least amount of lab time.
That doesn't mean they are the strongest overall attack, or that any given lavahound strategy can 3 star any base.
However, when prioritizing which troops to upgrade, for your War based troops, Lava Hounds should be one of the first. This is because the components of Lava hound based strategies are small, and the Lava Hound upgrade is relatively efficient (meaning, the improvement you get for the investment you give is solid).
For lava loonion, assuming you went to TH9 with all relevant troop levels caught up, only requires:
Lava hound to 2: 10 days
Balloon to 6: 10 days
Minion to 5: 10 days
So, 30 total days to get your LavaLoonion up and running, and 20 days to get *most* of the way there.
GoWiWi, on the other hand, requires:
Golem: If you got it to level 2 in TH8, you have 26 days of upgrades (12 and 14). If you didn't, you have 36 days.
Wizard: If maxed in TH8, 0 days. If not, you have 8 or 5 days.
Witch: 10 days
So, best case, you're looking at 36 days. Worst case could be 51 or 54 days.
The smartest priority, in my opinion, is this:
Hound>2, Loon>6, Hog>5, Witch>2, Golem>3, Golem>4, Minion>5.
This gets you to 95% of the strength of LavaLoonion, and 100% of the strength of minion-free QuatroLavaLoon. Plus, level 5 hogs can help with a lot of different variant attacks.
Then, you unlock witches to help clan donations, and honestly, using 2 level 1 and 1 max golem (CC), you can already use GoWiWi to most of its effectiveness (and it'll only get better as your golems upgrade). After that, you finish up your golem upgrades, and then you round it out with your minions. GoWiWi on its own is mostly a 2 star strategy, and that's why you need max loons and max hogs to get the most out of it. So, even when you have Golems Witches and Wizards all maxed, you still need additional components to turn it into a 3 star attack.
Fit hogs in there somewhere if you already have them at level 4. If you've skipped them, I wouldn't bother adding them until after minions are done. Hogs are still extremely strong at TH9, but if you're not experienced at using them, or you've neglected leveling them, it might not be worth it to get them at this stage in the game, until you've got the rest of your troops up to the point where you're 2 starring max'd TH9s. Once you get to that point, you should focus on hogs to 5 to help you 3 star.
